Rating: Summary: good product...easy setup no hassles Review: This router is awesome. Easy to setup. After reboot it found everything on my network....2 pcs, an apple airport, and my ps2. I didnt have to setup port forwarding on the ps2 to play tony hawk pro skater 4 online. I am by no means a network monkey but if you want an easy to use router that looks like a can of sardines you cant wrong with this product.
Rating: Summary: Very easy and so far reliable Review: I just got it and it took me 2 minutes to get it up ad working with 2 computer connected to it (Windows 2000 and Linux Mandrake). I'm a network consultant and it is dummy proved. It actually improved the speed of my network connection because my ISP runs a lot of test and the traffic on my public network segment is very high. The RP614 is just handling all the outside traffic, releasing my network card and my computer. I recommend it.
Rating: Summary: better than a linksys... Review: that's for sure. i've been through two linksys standard four-port cable/dsl routers that decided to stop working. rather than buy a third (i don't care how highly rated they are anymore), i did some quick and dirty research and found this one by netgear, at around [$$$]less. bearing in mind that i'm a bit of a tech geek, installation was completely painless, and i was up and runing after a few minutes and a restart. however, i'm using it for its most basic purposes and i haven't checked out any of its features. but it does what its supposed to do. i've had to reset it a few times in conjunction with my modem, but that could have to do with my ISP as much as the router itself. the unit is light, attractive, and compact, and is easily hidden away on your desk or computer cart. if you're looking for a basic router to split your connection and share files, then you've got nothing to lose with this one.
Rating: Summary: Great Low Priced Router, Easy setup Review: I picked this router up after doing some research on customer reviews on different brands/models. I was deciding between this RP614NA and the FR114P (also Netgear). I finally decided on this one after it ended up in my Amazon gold box with an additional discount. The router setup took about 20 minutes for 2 PC's sharing AT&T Broadband Cable. (One XP and one Win 98SE). Another 10 min and I had the network up and going (file/printer sharing). Probably would have went even quicker if I had more networking experience. As far as speed, I haven't noticed any drop by adding the router. The bandwidth test on CNet comes up about the same depending on the amount of traffic. I have not used the port forwarding or content filtering features, yet, so I can't comment on that. The only thing I wish it had is the DoS and SPI security features of the FR114P. However for half the price, I can't really complain. If you are looking for an inexpensive router with basic features and easy setup, I would definitely recommend the RP614 based on my experience. If you want the additional security features and internal print server, you might check out the FR114P.
Rating: Summary: The best Router!!! Review: I consider myself to be pretty computer literate so when I had trouble routing dsl to my two computers I became very frustrated. After spending countless hours trying to install two other routers (linksys, d-link) I was about to give up. Then I read a review of the netgear and thought I would give it a try. Within minutes of opening the package I had both of my computers online and surfing the web. The installation was flawless and I couldn't believe it only took minutes to install when I had worked for hours with the other routers that I tried. This router also works well with macintosh and can rout computers with different operating systems (xp, 98, etc.) Don't waste time with other routers--this one is the best hands down.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding! Review: Ditto to every 5 star review! This router does it all, and starts doing it within 10 minutes of taking it out of the box. I wish all hardware were this easy to set up.
Rating: Summary: It doesn¿t get much easier than this Review: I've had this router for about 3 months now and I haven't had a problem yet! It comes with setup instructions for just about every type of Cable/DSL configuration there is. Setup took about five minuets. Although it's not required Netgear has a firmware update that allows for remote administration along with other additions. This is a great router for Newbie's and Advanced users alike.
Rating: Summary: Easy to install and configure, worth the price paid Review: I tried setting up a Linux firewall awhile ago, and it's not easy. When a family member got cable modem, I figured I'd try this setup for them, and see the differences. All I can say is, it's a breeze to setup and configure, and as a defense against attacks it's more than adequate for the home user. I ran a few security tests against it, and it passed with flying colors. Do yourself a favor - save yourself some system resources (ie - don't install personal firewall software) and use a hardware solution. Nice job, Netgear!
Rating: Summary: This fish can like router itÂ's just Perfet!! Review: I Recently get this little gadget, at firts I was no sure about the purchase becouse thereÂ's some Linksys very good options, Even after itÂ's arrival. I was so soprised about the litlle fish can like router.... but it works like a truly Plug and Play device!!!(and itÂ's a router), I conect my pentium IV based machine with Windows XP Home edition and my old pentium MMX 200Mhz with MS WINDOWS 95 and both worked from the start!!, well no technical bla bla, at the end itÂ's true that itÂ's not a state of the art device but for home aplications itÂ's just perfect. (Ah!, and works nice with PS2 network device too!!)
Rating: Summary: Great Router.. Review: While I only had this router for a few days, I must say I am very impressed with it. I hooked it up to the network, set my computers to DHCP (W2K, XP, Win98, Linux) and everything worked. Didn't have to enter any configuration data (which was very cool!)The web-based interface is nicely laid out and provides ample on-screen information to help with most tasks. The router supports domain blocking (based on domain name or keywords as well as time of day/week), logging, ability to email alerts, port forwarding (ie run a web server/ftp server inside your network), Dynamic DNS interface, and much more.. Easy to use, easy to setup, easy to configure...
