Summary: Beware -- drivers may not work on W2000 systems
Review: Ordered a mess of Linksys 802.11b products and discovered their latest drivers don't install correctly on many brand-new Windows 2000 systems (and are troublesome on NT systems). The web site suggests a BIOS upgrade, a hazardous procedure that is completely irrelevant for brand-new systems. Lack of useful technical support (phone messages not returned). I have returned all my Linksys products and suggest you not bother with them unless you have an all-W98 network in mind.

Summary: Beware using on Windows NT
Review: The card works great and was easy to install. The instructions were good and I followed them. Beware, though, of using on a WinNT laptop. Softex does not appear to support this card for hotswap - ok, so I can live with this. But next level of trouble is that suspend mode will not work with the card installed. I cannot close the cover on my laptop without the pc crashing - ok, so I need to shut down before closing the cover (this bites). But is gets worse, what happens when I leave the laptop idle and it goes into suspend by itself - now it is getting annoying. So I can disable power features so that my laptop is always active - but what happened to battery power? All in all, I like the card but it is frustrating to use on NT. Maybe I'll send it back and get the Dell version of wireless pccard which IS supported by Softex. Or maybe I'll upgrade to Windows 2000.

Summary: Best wireless PC card on the market
Review: I use this pc card with the Linksys WAP11 and they work great. The setup was easy and the speed is excellent. The pc card has a small piece that sticks out of the notebook which makes for good mobility when relaxing with it on your lap. Linksys has a great lineup of networking products and they all work well and install easily. Some of their stuff even works with Linux.

Summary: Great way to make you laptop truely mobile
Review: I was very skeptical about this wireless NIC ability to transfer data with a good speed. Well I'am now a very happy with it's ability to transfer alot of info very fast. I did some tests, viewed a news video, listen to radio over the internet and transfered a 20 meg. file all simultaneously without a gletch. Something a 56k dialup could not even do!!!! (I have a broadband connection to the net). This wireless card works so well I will be using wireless networking throught my home. This wireless card for laptops is amazing. The instalation was very simple and had no problems. I connected the wireless AP and router (BEFW11S4) in about 5 min. and the WPC11 took about 10 min. With all the rebooting,this only took about 20 min. to get up and running.

Review: I used this card with the Linksys wireless Access Point with DSL router. The router was not worth anything. So this card may be great with other 802-compatible access points, but its useless with the Linksys one.

Summary: Linksys support and product is excellent
Review: I am using the linksys access point with router and switch along with this PC card. I did have trouble configuring it on my own but after two calls, got it up and running without difficulty. I find that if interneting I don't need max transfer rates and can roam all over my house with my wireless laptop to internet without losing my connection even when my connection icon says that I am weakly linked or even "not linked"! Good product.

Summary: It was easy to install
Review: I don't think of myself as a 'network wizard'. I opened the box, put the CD-ROM in, plugged the card in and let the install process run when it detected the new card I directed it to look for the driver on the CD-ROM. I never looked in the manual (it is still unopened in the box), tried a few settings and it started communicating with my wireless network (I ended up with it set to "infrastructure"). Very Cool!

Summary: Works with Apple Airport too!
Review: I have a home wireless network with two Macintosh computers and one Windows laptop. I use this card in the Windows laptop (A Sony VAIO) with the Apple Airport base station and it all works very well together. It was simple to set up, fast and reliable. By using the Apple Airport base station I can also share one Cable modem internet connection among all three computers. (It works with DSL also according to the Airport manual)

Summary: Good wireless experience
Review: I installed the WAP and the WAC for use in my home. After a few initial setup problems (as one reviewer said - networks are not for the uneducated) it has worked great. I have installed it on Win ME and NT laptops. The range spans an entire three level house. I have cable modem high speed access and everything works flawlessly. I am in the process of buying another.

Summary: Buy a different card!
Review: I received the Linksys WAP and this Linksys wireless card for a great birthday present. After about 45 minutes of setup and tinkering and I had everything configured and up and running. I plugged my WAP into a spare port on an Intel 8-Port switch which has connectivity to the Internet thru a Cisco DSL Router, providing DHCP. Okay, so everything is working and ping returns good results. (Don't forget to switch the WAP to Infrastructure!) The range was POOR beyond belief! As soon as I got about 5 feet away, still in plain line of site, all connectivity dropped. Don't let the LinkSys config tool fool you - sometimes even when it show's 0% strength, you still have a connection. But ping now returned nothing.So, I luckily had a loaner wireless card from 3Com from my Dad. Once I configured out how to get it to talk to the LinkSys WAP, I was in business. Now, I'm about 50 feet away, outside with the connectivty working thru several walls and a concrete basement wall! So, ditch the LinkSys card ASAP if you have any problems. Go with another brand, Lucent has been recommended here as well. So much for keeping the technology all in the same company for better results!
