Summary: if only everything else worked that well
Review: This has got to be one of the nicest products I have seen in a while. It does exactly what it says it will, does it well and has the easiest setup I have seen in years.

A word of warning. If you want an industrial strenght firewall, or the ability to customize every possible option then go elsewhere. if you need something that is easy to setup and needs no babysitting then this is for you. Have tested it in Wintel, Linux and Mac X environments (mixed and pure) without a hitch. Would have loved some extra customization abilities (like being able to choose a different 192.168 subnet besides .1) but I'll live.

Summary: basically flawless
Review: Opened the box, connected to a pc and a mac and in about 15 minutes had everything running great. As someone else pointed out, I didnt expect the mac to connect easily but I just turned on DHCP and restarted and that was it.

So far a solid product that performs exactly as expected.

Summary: Mac Non-support
Review: I bought this router because it showed Mac compatibility in the catalogs. I was terribly disappointed when I opened up the instruction manual and turned to the Mac section- there isn't any. I read further and found a statement from Linksys that says their router will function with other operating systems, but they offer NO TECHNICAL SUPPORT for SETUP, CONFIGURATION OR TROUBLESHOOTING ON NON-WINDOWS operating systems.

I was preparing to return the router when I decided to look for Mac support on the Web. I found a few sites that gave instructions for the Mac. After a bit of fumbling and trial and error, I got the router to run. If was not thinking of changing from Macs to Windows based machines, I would have returned it.

Having said that- since I got it configured, it has run flawlessly. No thanks to Linksys.

Summary: Solid performer, EASY to install and use!
Review: I have owned this product since it first appeared on the market almost two years ago. I have NEVER had a problem with my internet connection that was caused by this device. I have used it with a DSL line and a cable line (not at the same time) and it didn't skip a beat. I first had cable, then switched to DSL. Then the DSL carrier went bankrupt and I had to switch back to cable. Besides changing some very simple settings (through its very user friendly web page interface), you pretty much forget the thing is even there! I would recommend this unit to entry level PC user's as well as my hi-tech computer friends and co-workers. It is the most reliable piece of my broadband connection!!

Summary: Good product but it dosn't always work....
Review: It was fast and easy to hook up and configure. But, it just stops working every once in a while. The red diagnostic light comes on and the thing just locks up. Very frustrating.

When it works, it's great and I love it.

I called their tech support and the only thing they could offer was to upgrade the firmware. I did it, and it still locks up.

I went back to using just the modem directly without the router.

For me, it was a waste of money.

Summary: hassle free setup and reliability
Review: I swear by Linksys network gear now. It makes internet connections and home networking a breeze! As well as the added security protection availible (firewall)

I upgraded to the wireless model (befw11s4) cause I have a laptop now...otherwise I would not changed a thing.

Cant say enough. Great support web site too! 5/5 10/10!

Summary: A must for anyone with multiple computers in the home
Review: I love this router. I have owned it now for about a year and have had no problems with it. It was easy to setup. I ran cat 5 wire to all of the main rooms in my house and love the fact that I can plug in just about anywhere and surf the net. I have three desktop PCs plugged in continuously and also have a work laptop that I bring home and plug-in in the family room. It's great. I also have the Linksys Cable Modem with cable service via Knology. It's the only way to go. I have never had any problems with my broadband connection either. It has probably only been down 3 times in a year and a half, each time no more than an hour or two. Count me as a very happy Linksys customer. Also, a happy Amazon.com customer. I purchased both the Linksys router and the Linksys cable modem from Amazon.com.

Summary: This router is awesome!
Review: Well I installed this router today; setup was so fast it was almost anticlimatic! I was concerned that I would have problems because I had to deinstall existing setup. For internet sharing between 2 pcs, I was using Winpoet software with Microsoft Internet sharing activated and two network cards in one pc acting as the server. The existing setup was clunky and the main pc had to be on for the other pc to connect. Before setting up the Linksys router, I took out 2nd network card out of the main pc and deleted it from the network listing. Also uninstalled WinPoet software and Microsoft internet sharing. After that, shut down everything hooked up network cables, turned everything on, used the Linksys web page setup and within 5 minutes I was connected! Both pc's too, together or separately; and performance is way better now!

I don't know why I didn't install this sooner!

Summary: easy setup - Pacbell DSL + WinXP + Win98 + this
Review: I purchased this one since I recently got a new SONY VAIO with
Win XP, along with an old pc running Win98. Both
machines were set up in minutes just by following the ONE
page quickstart. One thing I noted is that after turning
off the VAIO, the lights for that port still light
up, but it goes off for the old PC. That didn't bother me much,
but just curious... Also, CAT-5 cables must be purchased separately.
BTW, its color matches Sony VAIO quite well,
not sure that's coincident or not, but surely fun to
watch. AT [the price], it worths every penny of it...
