Summary: Nifty device
Review: I bought a WUSB11 to hook up my Windows 2000 PC to my wireless LAN (using Linksys wireless access point). Setup was very straight forward - per instructions I ran the program on the CD-Rom to install the drivers, then plugged the device in. Although I don't move my desktop machine around much, nor do I move the access point, I've never seen the signal strength fall below 97%. The device is about 25 feet and one wall removed from the access point. The design of this device is very sleak. Dimensionally, its about the size of a deck of cards. The only cable is the USB cable to the computer - there is no power cable required and, just as important, no need to take up a socket on your powerstrip with a plug from this guy.
The one negative is that once I added this device to my home network, the Linksys wireless card I use in my laptop seemed to get a much lower signal strength from the access point. I can't help but wonder if somehow the WUSB11 signal is so strong that it interferes?

Summary: Don't trust techies at Lynksys!
Review: This works fine with our PC. Unfortunately, I ordered after consulting with the tech dept at Lynksys. I gave them all of the specifics on our 2 PCs AND 2 MACS, and was assured that this was the item. Well, almost [price]later, after a call to them, it turns out that they don't have drivers for any Mac OS.
So Caveat Emptor!

Review: I got this because the wpc11 signal stanked. We had to move the tower. this things signal is waaay stronger. i had trouble installing but after 1 hr bingo. i recommend oh the signal goes through 2 exterior walls and a back yard (100ft)

Summary: Had Setup Trouble, But Fixed It
Review: I bought this along with a SMC Barricade (SMC7004AWBR) to share an internet connection. One computer (Windows XP Professional) is wired and works very well. I plugged the WUSB11 into the other: a one year old high-end Dell with Windows XP Home. Its connection did not work for two months. I spent many hours trying different configurations, but the connection was never consistent. The Dell would complain of IP address problems and the repair function wouldn't work, it would work unless the computer was left alone for a while, its connection would come off and on and so on. There was no clear pattern; it just didn't work without intervention 50% of the time. Then, and I recommend this for all who buy this, I removed the Ethernet card from the Dell. I disabled it before, but that was not enough. Take that thing out! After that, I changed nothing and it has consistently worked for a few days now. I tried sharing some files, but that caused the whole network not to work and, for the first time, caused the wired computer's internet connection not to work. I unplugged and replugged everything and it was back to normal. I will not press file sharing - both computers can connect to the internet quickly and effectively and that is enough for me. The signal is strong and consistent through two walls and a ceiling and despite another network and many apartment buildings nearby. Despite my troubles, I would buy another WUSB11 if I got a laptop.

Summary: Does exactly what it's supposed to.
Review: What can I say, I wanted to connect my new desktop computer to my wireless network. Rather than purchase a wireless card that could be installed within my computer, I read the reviews and found out the reception was much better using one of these external devices -- and it's nice that I can move this device from computer to computer if I need to or keep the device a small distance away from my computer (in case I ever decide to put my computer in a cabinet or whatever). Furthermore, setup was pretty smooth, the included software made it easy. And, this Linksys device works just fine even though my wireless base station is made by SMC. Plus, it's [inexpensive]. Overall, it's a great value and it performs exactly how it's supposed to. If you're interested in adding another computer to your wireless network, consider buying this product.

Summary: Linksys has a good reputation, but it didn't work
Review: I purchased this adaptor and the Linksys PC card to set up a peer-to-peer network between a notebook and a desktop. After several days I gave up. I was never able to make the connection. Technical support would only tell me if I had the configuration set up properly, but stopped short of helping make a network connection. Following the suggestion from some of the other reviews I read, I returned the PC card for a Netgear card and tried to make the connection with the Linksys USB adaptor. Still, no success. I ended up returning both Linksys devises and purchased like Netgear hardware. The connection was made almost immediately and I have been happy with the network since.

Summary: Simple installation! No problem
Review: I just installed Linksys USB adapter after my D-Link DWL-120 died after 1 yr of use. It took me less than 5 minutes to set it up. It works great! After my experience with D-Link products and technical supports, I'll stick with Linksys products. I haven't tried Linksys technical support yet. But, my other Linksys items have worked so well and have been so simple to install, I haven't needed to contact them.

Summary: Great Product
Review: I wasn't sure which adapter to get, the PCI or USB. I didn't want to open the case all the time if there were problems. So I decided to go with the USB. I'm using Windows XP Pro. I also got the 4 port switch WAP. Installed and running in less then 5 minutes. Installing the USB adapter on XP was a breeze. Just popped in the CD and away I went. Setup was very easy and fast. My XP box is on the 2nd story, and my WAP is in the basement. I get excellent connection with 11Mbps no problem. Have not had to update any firmware at all. Out-of-box setup.

Summary: Everything is wireless these days but does it really work?
Review: ... After some research I determined that instead of pulling wires through the walls and playing around with things like that I was going to go the easy way. I found out about wireless networking. I looked into it and discovered that Linksys had the fastest wireless capabilities. Though it was nothing special it could go up to 11 MB/s if the computers were within 100 feet of each other. Further away and the service dramatically declined. But it was easy, just install the software, hook up the components and I was ready. Or so I thought. This begins that drama play titled "Norwaynick vs. the wireless network." ... I was very eager to get it home and set it up. I sat down in front of the computer and opened the packages. Inside I found instructions and the products. First I read the instructions to set up the access point. The access point was what was supposed to send out the signals to the little stations which would be at every computer. From the beginning my experience was poor. The instructions were very difficult to follow despite the fact I know quite a bit about computers. When I did get the access point installed and hooked up I went on to the little "stations" or wireless USB network adapters. I had to install all of these, which were also difficult to follow and then plug them in. Finally, a few hours later everything was done, or so I thought. I went to try it out on the computer that powered the access point first. Success! It worked and the speed was just as usual, although here the access point and station were just a foot apart but it made me very hopeful. On to the next station. I went to my next computer. No signal. The signal was not being received and when it was it was only 10%. It needed atleast 80% to work properly. The same thing followed on all the rest. I was so unhappy. All of the computers were easily within 100 feet of the access point and according to the box the signal could stretch to 1500 feet. So what was the problem. I went back to the one that did work and after a little inspection I uncovered an very disappointing fact. The wireless was not working there. Instead the cable wire was going from the cable modem, into the access point and then to the computer, by the USB wire that was supposed to configure the access point to that computer. If I unplugged the USB network adapter (or the little station) everything still worked fine because I was sending it to the computer via wire. ... Moral of the story. Don't go wireless with networking yet. Everything else might be wireless but this just isn't dependable. I would never recommend using this to anyone so save yourself the hours and money and either put in the ethernet wires or hire someone to do it. PS: Now I have the house wired with ethernet cables.
