Summary: Thought it was ok, but it's not
Review: Well I did read all the negative stuff about this product before buying it... Didn't think to believe it.On the first day the router crashed once, rebooting it fixed it and it worked fine for a couple of months, and now the problems are setting in. It will just stop functioning about twice a day when you're transferring data through the router continuously (eg. long downloads) and need resetting to get back on the net. The access point also goes down when this happens (stays visible but no data can pass). This is getting frustrating. If you don't use the router function it seems to perform fine. Range is excellent. Mostly the router that disappoints. The limited (10) custom portmaps was very restrictive too.. Oh well. Hope for some firmware updates!

Summary: Version 4 rocks with New Firmware
Review: Plugged it in and had a bit of trouble getting it to connect to the laptop. I am using a usb wireless adapter that I got from compusa. The new firmware just happen to deal specifically with that manufacturer. I installed the new firmware and Presto...Had excellent connection through out the house.

Review: for some reason when I purchased this item at radio shack I thought it would work for my speedstream 5100 from SBC DSL but it doesn't. I also purchashed the wireless pci card and spent a total of 155.00 and no response thank you

Summary: Just lucky? I don't think so
Review: Well, I've read some of the bad reviews and all of them seems to refer to the v4 of the product and all the positives ones refers to the v2 of the product...so make your choice!
I personally own a v2 and have recommended and installed this product to several clients and friends and we all are very happy and worries-free.
No compatibility issues of any kind: I've paired this device with different brands of wifi and wired ethernet products (Netgear, D-link, Ambicom, 3Com, USRobotics, ZyXel, Actiontec and some others).
The range is good enough for common environments, if you need some extra signal strength there is a variety of antenna upgrades out there to serve your needs and your budget.
Concluding: this is a good product, well built and reliable. I'm really sorry that Linksys is ruining his reputation with the version 4 of this device.

Summary: does the job
Review: The linksys router does everything promised. Very easy to install, I was getting around 350mps internet download. Only draw back is the router is kind of bulky unlike the netgear, but oh well.

Summary: great, no problems
Review: I've installed 2 of these and both worked right out of the box and have worked since without incident. I will probably get another for my parents' house, which says a lot about the reliability of this thing. I guess the only downside is that it is kinda funny looking at least in my opinion; it is bright blue, boxy, has huge antlike antennas, and flashes green lights as it works. Definitely one to hide behind a plant or something.

Summary: Don't waste your money
Review: I work hard for my money, most people do. And nothing ticks me off more than feeling completely ripped off. This router is a piece of junk, and its not just the wireless function that is a joke--connecting directly to the ports via cat5 cable won't help either. If you are a casual web surfer going here and there, then you might get away with this product. If you download anything more than 1 MB of data at any given moment then walk away. Don't look back. Buy something else. Trust me. It keeps timing out every minute. Looses the connection completely and your downloading software (or streaming media player) can't restart the connection automatically so you have to do it over and over again. I ran a diagnostic broadband speed test and comparing being jacked directly into my cable modem vs. using the wireless or wired function from the router, I get 1/3 the bandwidth if it works at all. READ ALL THE OTHER BAD REVIEWS, I AGREE WITH ALMOST EVERY ONE OF THEM. Buy something else.

Summary: Solid Router
Review: I got this router because and when it came with a firewall. If it is still offered with this firewall it is only a sofwear firewall and not hardwear. The firewall only covered one computer and expired after one year. I had a trailwear version of the softwear installed so it was pre-expired. Also the router leaves the port 113 closed or unstealed and unless you set the firewall to a dummy forwading ip it will not be fully stealthed. Aside from the firewall miswording earlier, this is a solid router with decent range covering the floor above and below through numerous walls and doors. I have a 1500 cable internet connection and test at 1600+with or without the router at early morning hours no difference. (Also experianceing 200 or less sometimes during peak hours alone as well) Average test about 1350-dsdreports With 4 computers all wireless going my internet connection is slowed consideralbly but still reliable and decent testing 100-750 average. During peak hours we do suffer near outages and peak time but I think this is only due to sharing*non-dedicated bandwith. I do NOT plan to add more computers to the network without dedicated bandwith due to newly limited bandwith availibility. Average work workstation distance about 25 feet Average 3 walls or floors wood, drywall (carpet not calculated). Everyone on then nework is for the most part satisfied with the network. Four stars for the router living up to expectations.

Summary: Good product with some misguided reviewers
Review: This router has worked well for me. There seem to be many bad reviews, but a few of them seem to be from incompetent users. The web interface for configuring it is pretty good, but you may have to play with settings. It simply can't guess the information it needs. You may have to talk to someone who understands routers. Having any router/firewall between you and the internet may interere with certain programs connecting to the internet. That's kind of the point. Making these programs work may require a little extra tweaking. Finally: walls, floors, and other electronics using the same frequency *will* interfere with your wireless signal to varying degrees. If you have a large house or lots of obstructions, you may want to also get a wireless access point to cover more area. Wireless routers tend to have more horizontal range than vertical . This is a pretty good router which should serve the needs of most people. It provides some security and lets you get all your computers online.

Summary: Bugs are known by everyone except Linksys apparently
Review: Be sure to read all the reviews here and on other message boards about this product before buying it. I won't rehash my problems, but only say I've had the same sporadic connectivity problems to the internet that others have documented. Here's the short version: Wired or wireless connections internal to the network work fine. Connections to the internet are crappy. Specifically items that require sustained connections, like downloads, uploads, IM, etc. For example I got a new PC and installed Windows XP on it, then went to windowsupdate.com to get the thing up to date: I had about 25 updates to install. I had to install each update separately and try several times on each download for a connection that would last the duration of the download. It was horrible - off and on it took about 3 days because I couldn't just select the updates and go. I then did the exact same thing with another PC, but this time I unplugged the router and plugged the PC directly into the DSL modem and it worked flawlessly. Linksys support was useless - they told me to adjust my MTU settings which I tried all over the place - to no avail. I've heard from friends and other reviewers that this issue is specific to this version of the Linksys router, but since they don't care much about my problem I'm jumping ship and going with a Netgear. Other than that it's great!
