Summary: Good product for the price; needs work, as expected.
Review: Expect to be a beta tester; performance is somewhat random, but I hope it'll get better as the firmware is updated. So far the average download speed from 30 ft. away is ~18Mbps, while the upload speed is ~22Mbps. I'm using the Linksys WPC54G card on my laptop. Performance does bounce around more than it should. I really don't quite understand why the upload speed is always faster; it should be about the same. I hope it's a bug. Using WEP doesn't decrease performance, which is nice.Overall, it's a lot faster than 802.11b, which never really exceeds 5Mbps either direction. It would have been great if we could get at least 27Mbps transfers. Cross your fingers the final 802.11g implementation will improve the performance and stabilize the speed. One bad thing: This product doesn't support UPnP (Universal Plug N Play), unlike their older routers. You won't be able to use file transfer, video conference, etc. with MSN/Windows Messenger or any other UPnP enabled applications. Bad move from Linksys. I also found an incompatibility with a couple of old Prism based 802.11b PCMCIA cards; they can't see the network at all. I'll be logging a call with Linksys. My Agere 802.11b cards work fine, though.

Don't buy this router yet unless you only use linksys 802.11g stuff

the linksys post a new firmwire and it solve the problem with the 802.11b issue. if you have some problem with this router, go to [linksys website]and update the firmwire.

Summary: So far, so good- some updated features over BEFW11S4
Review: I bought this to replace my 1.5 year old BEFW11S4 (ver 1). My Sony Vaio Laptop with 802.11 (built-in) could never connect wirelessly unless all other devices in my network were turned off and the router was reset. It was determined to be a router problem. This new G router has fixed the problem. Also, it is thinner, has a more detailed front panel (more lights- like DMZ indicator), and has an all new browser-based setup interface (more detailed than the previous versions). Works great. Havent tried the 54 speed yet, but will in time. Home is all wireless plus a few CAT5 connected devices. I combined this with the WET11 wireless Bridge and my Xbox live is smooth and wireless. Note: If still using 802.11b make sure to adjust wireless transmission rate (on advanced screen) to Auto. Mine shipped with it set at 54 only and my wireless devices wouldn't interface with the router. Once I changed the setting, it worked perfectly.

Review: I received my Linksys WRT54G Wireless 54g Router and Linksys WPC54G Wireless 54g PC Card and I all I can say is WOW!
After an upgrade to 802.11B several months ago (BELKIN wireless router and card) I was very happy with the wireless world in the home/home office environment. However, after receiving my LINKSYS 802.11G setup (thanks Amazon for superfast shipping!) of both their .11g router and PC card I can say that it is worth the upgrade to the new standard!
While I was able do everything I need to do (Internet, Network printing, and file access, Games, etc) with little delay on my network with the 11B, The linksys is a noticeable improvement. That slight hesitation with .11B I often encountered is now a distant memory. Range and signal is far superior to what I had before. In a 2 story townhouse with God knows how many old coats of lead paint and numerous potential interference issues, I have yet to not maintain a connection signal of 54. After a walk around my yard and surrounding area with my laptop, I suffered no serious drop of signal until hitting the far edge of the router's range
As always with Linksys, setup is quick and painless. Within 5 minutes of opening the box, I was plugged in, rebooted and surfing the web. In a worst case scenario, Linksys has always given me super tech support for any questions or minor issues I have run into in the past (I have owned several Linksys Wire Routers) so I have no fears if something pops up in the future. Backwards compatability with 11B cards helps ease the pain of those folks out there hesitant to leave behind a high dollar investment in their old cards to upgrade to this router. I have a Belkin .11B card that is performing with no problems (albeit at the .11B speed) as well as my new Linksys .11G card in another laptop.
Though Linksys may have leapt out of the gate before the 802.11g standard is completely agreed upon, I have no doubts based on what I have heard and read that any changes to the standard will be handled via easy firmware upgrades to the router (how many times have we already had to update firmware on wire and 11B hardware?) with little to no pain.
Bottom line, I am by no means a rocket scientist or computer super genius, but I do know what I like: quick,reliable performance with minimal impact to my wallet or daily schedule. As in the past, Linksys delivers all that and more as is their norm.
In an age where nanoseconds are often the difference between 2 items, this sets the standard bar a notch higher for the rest of the wireless community.

Summary: How can you review a non-shipping product?
Review: LinkSys says they are the first ... Apple helped develop the standard and will have products out about the same time, if not sooner than, Lynksys. In any event, how can people give 5 stars to a product that ISN'T EVEN AVAILABLE???

Summary: Worst piece of junk ever
Review: i can't even begin to explain how bad this product is. Quite frankly, it's a disgrace to America as we know it. For this company to have the audacity to actually sell this thing is beyond me. What they have basically done is taken a piece of metal and shoved some wires in it and have claimed it can give one wireless internet. I would rather have spent the money wasted on this product on something more useful, for instance lobbying congress to eliminate this product.

Summary: Kick butt!
Review: At first, I was very disappointed with the range of the router. But after further investigation, I realized that the setting for 'transmission speed' in the router setup was set at 54 Mbps instead of the default of 'Auto'. Once I changed this to Auto - things ignited.
I live in a three story apartment and have the router on the bottom floor. I am able to get 48 - 54 Mbps on the third floor - Impressive. Even with my 2.4 Ghz phones on, I get great signal strength and quality. If your seriously looking into going wireless - this product is a must have!

Summary: Cooking with GAS!
Review: Received the 54G router and two cards today. Setup took only a few minutes and laptop is now running almost as fast as when hardwired. Ran into same problem I had with earlier version of 802.11a cards with XP: the Zero Config would not establish a link to the router, so had to install the non-XP Utility and hit the refresh button. That started the link immediately.

Review: I was waiting for wireless to be faster then 11mbs. This linksys router does it for the RIGHT PRICE. For about the same price as 11mb you can get 5 times the speed. The range is terrific, I am using this for my home and I was transferring at 50+mbs from my backyard. Easy to configure, and the price is right, great technical support. I had an issue where the laptop could not see the router, for some odd reason the default channel did not work in my house, go figure, after speaking to a patient technician we worked it out. If you are going wireless THIS IS THE ONE TO BUY.
