Review: I got this router upgrading from my Netgear RT314 router. I couldn't be happier. This router works just as flawlessly and easily as my last one. Of course the added bonus is the Wireless network I now have at home.I am actally writing this review from my kitchen table about 50ft away from my router through a few walls with Excellent signal strength and 128 bit WEP encryption enabled. The only thing I'd like to see is the ability to disable the SSID broadcast. Even that doesn't bother me though, as all of the other security features in this product pretty much eliminate fears of wireless hacking or squatting on my network.

Summary: Great value, strong signal
Review: I have an Inspiron 8200 laptop with True Mobile 1180 mini-PCI card installed (802.11b). I wanted to be free to roam the house and back deck with my laptop, so I looked into WAPs and wireless routers. I worried about this router's capability to go through walls and looked into 802.11a/g solutions. When I saw the price of the a/g solutions, I decided to stick with 802.11b transmitters. I noted that routers cost the same as WAPs, but have 4 ethernet ports. Even though I have a Linksys cable router, I decided to go with a wireless router, too, since I have 3 PCs and a port replicator wired into the router. Can never have enough ports! I looked into verious brands of wireless routers. Netgear appeared to have the best signal strength from various reviews. I bought it and hooked it into my existing Linksys router. On my laptop, I had to delete my 1180 card from the "Bridge" section of "Network Connections" in Windows XP. It popped up in the "LAN" section. After that, it was a snap. With the router in the basement, I receive strong signal all over the house, even in my second floor bedroom (up 25 feet and over 25 feet). The speed is just fine. I am completely satisfied.

Review: I love this router. I had the RT311 and it was time to upgrade to wireless. The setup was easy. One note on wireless...Do not place the wireless router in the kitchen. I turned on my microwave which interrupted the signal and cause the network to disconnect. Once the microwave turned off, network was fine.

Summary: just got it and...
Review: so far so good. I am new to the whole networking concept and I was a little concerned that I would not get it. But right out of the box the netgear MR814 looked great went perfectly with my computer and the room. Very attractive design was a plus. But the real test is how it performed. Set-up was easy, however, I did have to call tech support because I was not getting a connection to the net. The staff walked me through the process and I was on in about 5 min. The next thing that I have to do is network my Windows XP PC up to my wireless USB adapter. I will update you on it's performance and tell you my opinion. You might wonder why I gave it only 4 stars. I am waiting to add or delete a star when I set up the wireless connection.

Summary: EASY setup, flawless so far
Review: I can't believe the reviews about the easy setup were true. But they are. I have a Comcast cable modem. Without any software, CD, or configuration it worked out of the box on XP. Just connected it, and rebooted everything(router, cable modem, and computer) and I was online! Truely easy setup. I never even had to go into the setup config at all. I connected the MA101 USB to my upstairs computer, XP installed the driver - again no software needed except for XP's built in drivers - and I was online upstairs. The whole thing took less than 20 minutes total for both computers. What a wonderful product!

Review: I upgraded from the LinkSYS WAP11. Works a lot better, I am seeing better wireless speeds. Also it was very simple to set-up, it took 5 mins to get everything working. Must have for home wireless networks!

I used this router to replace a router and separate wireless access point. It was up and running serving a cable internet connection to 2 wired and 2 wireless PCs all in under 5 minutes. I've worked with a Netgear router before, so the management webpage look and feel was familiar. I like the fact the antenna can be upgraded to a higher gain one if desired, though the signal's going from a second floor to notebooks on the first floor at diagonally opposite ends of the house about 60 feet apart and through 3 plaster walls. I'm quite satisfied with the signal strenth: the notebooks' XP connection qualities vary from "very good" to "excellent." I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Summary: Easy to install and Signal is Strong
Review: Netgear MR814 is a well designed and nice looking product. The installation is easy and without any extra configuration. Just plug and play, then it works. I purchased it because it comes with one WAN port and four RJ45 ports. I just need to buy a wireless card for one of my laptops which is far away from the Router, the other one still can be connected with a network cable. I can save my money like this way. There is no problem with my two laptops running XP at all. The signal of wireless connection is strong enough. It took 10 minutes to setup everything. The only thing I need to do is interconnecting the Cable Modem and Router with a RJ45 cable, and makes the wires look neat. That's it. So simple. It happed to me that the Netgear Router can not get IP. This is for your reference, turn on the Cable Modem first, then Netgear Router. You can also to go to system admin. web page to get the IP manually.

Summary: This is the router you need!
Review: I am so very happy that I purchased this router. I am not a techie, so the prospect of creating a home network was daunting, to say the least. Still, the idea of paying twice the cost of high-speed Internet service was abhorant, and dial-up was killing my productivity. Then along comes Netgear! Between this and the wireless card, my whole life (as far as home computing anyway!) has become immeasurably better. If you are a non-techie, like me, you will probably take great comfort in the helpful and professional support team at Netgear. These friendly folks walked me through installing it and never grew tired of the questions! I highly recommend this product!

Summary: Does exactly what it's supposed to do
Review: When I decided to go wireless, I first went with the D-Link AirPlus series, figuring the extra speed would be worth it. Unfortunately, it had to be reset 1-2 times a day at minimum, so the network would always go down every few hours. After returning the D-Link gear, I did some research and the Netgear MR814 received many good reviews from people. This time, my goal was stability and the Netgear truly delivers. Setup was ridiculously easy, and after installing my Lucent pc card in my laptop, our wireless network was up within 30 minutes! The installation was painless and straight-forward - the instructions that came with the Netgear are concise and very well-written, so those of you who are not as computer savvy will have as easy a time setting this up as an experienced network administrator. Not only that, but the network has been up without any downtime since I installed it one week ago (24/7). I highly recommend the Netgear - setup is well-documented and easy, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. *UPDATE - 1 month later*
I have had NO problems whatsoever with the Netgear yet. It has not gone down once, connectivity is always great (though I live in a 1 bedroom apartment). An added bonus - those annoying Windows Messenger pop-ups have stopped as the router does not broadcast my IP address.
