Summary: Only works for 2 months
Review: I bought this wireless router 2 months ago. In the beginning,
it worked fine. However, after around 2 months passed, it
start to drop my laptop from wireless network every 5 to 10
minutes. After the similar situation appeared several times,
you will find the wireless network indicator light doesn't
flash anymore. At the time, you need to reboot this router again
to make it work for a short time. Then repeat the similiar steps,
every several hours. :(
I give it 2 stars because I use it as an expensive hub now. :Q

Summary: Excellent product
Review: After I got the wiring straight by following the easy diagram, Almost as soon as I started the CD that came with the product, it was finished. At first I thought there was a problem, since the setup was actually finished in about one minute.

I have it running for 2 days with excellent range (my laptop is 30 feet away with 2 concrete walls in Seoul, Korea apartment. I get a very strong signal by using SMC USB adapter. (unfortunately Netgear does not have a stylish USB adapter as the main router).

Excellent and easy to setup.

Summary: Do your homework on support first, then choose the hardware
Review: Although this has been well recommended by many authoritative reviewers, I had no success at all connecting this with an Apple G4 laptop with built in Airport. Tech support from Netgear was limited to only the most rudimentary suggestions before they required paid support to take over.DSL Provider only supports 2-Wire brand for wireless assist and Apple couldn't resolve the connection issue. So, although It works fine with the routing of wired connections, you need to be certain you can get help if wireless doesn't interface.

Summary: Great buy
Review: I am not a techie but I found getting the wireless connection with my laptop up and running very easy but the tech support is horrible. I believe that Netgear have outsourced their support to India. The wait on both occasions that I called was close to 30 minutes.

Summary: Mail-in Rebate from Netgear is a joke
Review: I bought this router and the MA521 card in September. The router and the card worked fine. But I still have not received the promised the mail-in rebate more than 3 months later.

Summary: Works like a champ!!!!
Review: Installation supposed to be as easy as 123 but wasn't. Inexperience technician make it seems like hell. Anyhow, it is a great fun at last. I must confess that the signal strength amazed me. I received signal in all area in my building. My PPC WIFI works great. Overall, it is a nice and cheap piece of equipment. For the price, you can not beat this. It works for me like a champ. Almost return it because of poor tech support. At last the right tech support help me out. It is great!!!

Summary: great router... ! PPPoE only, pptp troubles
Review: This router had me pull my hairs for the first 3 weeks, it kept hanging after several hours. I tried applying the firmwares, that didn't help.
Support was fine, but they instructed me to do a reset, and basic stuff like that.
So I decided to change my ADSL protocol from PPTP to PPPoE, having done so my connection is working flawlessly, over 100 hours of ongoing connection.
Wireless support is great, my tc1000 connections nicely, even through brick walls. (11Mbps), also using the Orinoco Gold, works nice.
didn't try WEP, I have it restricted by MAC addresses.
also UPnP works good with windows XP, especially when using Netmeeting.

aside from the fact that its 'old' 802.11b standard, its a great product once you get to tweak it for your system.

I'll recommend it to WiFi enthusiasts beginners with a very limited budget. If you got some more to spend, move on to the 802.11g where current-future resides.

Summary: Be sure to upgrade the software
Review: I installed this with the MA401 card in my laptop and wired it to my desktop. The wireless connection kept cutting out every 3-5 minutes until I upgraded (for free) to the latest software. However, this upgrade would have been impossible if I had not had my desktop wired to the router (since the laptop's connection wouldn't stay long enough to transfer the files).

The router's fine, but the firewall is not as configurable as SMC and Belkin products I've used. It's also the largest home gateway I've used, though standing on end it doesn't use too much room.

It comes with a personal firewall which seems OK, but a bit rough around the edges.

They throw in a patch cable! I love it when companies don't skimp on little things like that.
