Summary: RCA Needs to Update their Manual
Review: The manual that came with my DCM235 cable modem is a cross model manual that does in fact say that the download speeds are 3000Kbps. That is not to say that the DCM245R does not have 32Mbps download speeds. The thing to remember about this stuff is that like telephone modems, the rated speed is going to be greater than what the system actually provides. Most cable operators are providing speeds between 500Kbps and 1.2Mbps. My 3000Kbps cable modem is just fine, and most gaming can operate at those speeds just fine. I think that for what the infrastructure is currently capable of, a person could find an equivalent performing model for a cheaper price.

Summary: It just works...
Review: The RCA Digital Cable Modem (DCM245R) is a cable modem that just works. First purchased in June of 2002, my unit has never given me one bit of problems. During those times when something seemed wrong, it was due to the cable network NOT my modem. I have been able to count on a connection day in and day out with this unit. It is DOCSIS compliant which means that it should be usable with many of the cable networks out there. However, check with your cable provider to make sure. I can hardily recommend this unit as it has withstood the test of time and continues to provide me with exceptional service to this day. Highly recommended!

Summary: Factual error in other review?
Review: The specs listed for the RCA DCM245R on the sites I have checked state 38 Mbps downstream, not the 3 in the other review. I'm rating 5 stars to balance what seems to be an inaccurate review.

Summary: This isn't compatible with most routers
Review: This thing is a piece of junk...it stops working and needs to be rebooted weekly. I have tried 3 routers with it and it only works intermittenly. It is not recomended....BTW does anyone want to buy a cable modem?

Review: Until 2 months ago I used Com21 modem that often was disconnected from my cable provider. I called Charter and complained; they imediately replaced the COM21 (said they had issues with that brand before) and replaced it with this RCA unit. Not only I had no problem ever since, it is also lot faster than the previous unit. Highly satisfied with this product!
