Review: I finally replaced the Motorola modem that I was renting from Cox for the past two years with this Linksys cable modem. Setup was easy and it was up and running right away after Cox (San Diego) changed their settings to match my new modem.Update: one year later and it's still going fine, no problems.

Summary: Linksys That Couldn't Link
Review: After purchasing, tried to install on my computer. After installing drivers, could not get unit to communicate with my IP.
Used my IP Tech Support and Linksys Tech Support with no luck.
Purchased Motorola Surfboard SB4200 and it works great.

Review: Im a network tech and was hesitant to go to cable. I found that I couldn't go with DSL, so I bought this modem (and purchased cable service) and whamo...715K download\225K upload. This modem rocks and with ATTBI too. I also went with the Dlink router (the fairly [ok] one) and networked all 6 of my computers to the internet. this required additional equipment, however, since they were already networked via dialup, it was no problem. I give this modem a thumbs up.

Review: Easy install, worked right out of box. Just plug it in and everything is done!
Offical tests showed only 5% difference compared to the old one leased from Adelphia, but it is really much faster, at least 30%!
Especially when you download big files from some fast servers. Strongly recommend to everybody!

Review: Renting your current modem? Don't waste your money on a rental that could break down. You could have purchased the modem. You probably won't go back to dial-up, so make a wise investment.

Summary: EXCELLENT CABLE MODEM
Review: Works like a dream with no fuss, no worry and minimal installation. Using a DELL "DIMENSION 8200", this was less than a P and P job. In fact, the USB connection is redundant because the connection goes live to cable with just a coax to the cable port, and a CAT 5 or above link to the NIC. Beats SIEMENS and D-LINK for consistency and robustness. Minimal fuss all the way. About the only Necessary thing is a Firewall or preferably Norton INTERNET SECURITY, which stops any and every problem from Back door Hacker entry to unwanted spam and advertising.

Review: ...Setup on Cox couldn't have been easier. I called their technical support, gave them the MAC number and swapped out the old rental COM21. It came right up and my connection speed is 10% faster than the old COM21. Now I get the maximum speed for my level of service. Ignore [company]alternate photo showing the modem standing vertically, that's the old version 1 modem.[company]is shipping the version 2 which normally sets horizontal and is stackable with other Linksys products.

Summary: An Excellent Product
Review: Before purchasing this modem, I was paying $$$ per month to lease a Motorola Surfboard (SB4101) modem from my ISP. To make matters worse, I had to find a place for the modem, that would be out of the way of all the other wires running to/from my PC. This made it difficult to reset the modem if I needed to. I already owned a 4-port Linksys router, and wished I could stack the cable modem on top of it, thus making my life a lot easier. Linksys has its head on straight. By making several of its products similar in appearance, each component can be stacked on top of the other (similar to rack-mounted appliances), to save space, and keep wires and cables more streamlined. Now that I have the Linksys cable modem, everything looks nice and neat and is so much easier to manage. Thank you, Linksys. Keep up the good work.
