Rating: Summary: Always having to reset the modem Review: This modem works marginally..I have had to reset the modem at least twice a month since I purchased it..After nine months it died...
Rating: Summary: Why Not 5 Review: Well not to be to picky but the price was right and this modem has yet to fail me. I have purchased 3 now and no problems but the truth is you should never really expect your broadband modem to fail. One Exception would be possible electrical damage but other then that if the thing doesn't work out of the box then you either bought the wrong thing or it is broken. Anyways back to my rating I would have givin this product a 5 if it was DOCSIS 2.0 but 1.1 is good enough for my needs at the moment and truthfully there is little difference. The reason for a 4 rating at least is this modem keeps itself cool. For one other modems I have used tend to give off a lot of heat. There are more then adequate vents on the top and bottom of the modem. When you take into account how small this modem is compared to others it really works better. This is a good thing since you can stack linksys items and if you are like me and want to keep them out of the way and ususally in a less then desirably ventilated area you don't want it to overheat since that can lead to a life reduction in the product. So Enjoy your bandwith.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic with Adelphia Cable Review: Just got this and a Linksys Router set up for a PC with Windows XP and an old laptop with windows 98. The install took minutes for both Windows XP & 98. Fantastic speed through Adelphia. Trivial Install. Two thumbs up.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Product Review: I have had this modem connected for three weeks now and it seems to be faster than the modem I was using from Cox Cable. It also works great with the WAP54G that I got.
Rating: Summary: This modem has major design flaw Review: This modem has a design flaw that causes it to lock up if the bandwidth gets too high. I am fortunate to have an ISP that provides very high bandwidth, and this modem locks up anytime the bandwidth exceeds 1.5 Mbps for more than a few minutes. I know several other people on various cable networks that have the same problem. It works fine as long as you are only playing games, surfing, etc. but if you download a lot of files or use file sharing networks, do not buy this modem!
Rating: Summary: Works out of box with Charter Review: This is the first cable modem I have purchased and was warry about problems I had heard of others having. Opened it up and called my ISP to change the MAC address (read it off the bottom of the modem). They said it would take about 15 minutes for the modem to connect ... 5 minutes later it was connected and working fine. I figure without that [money amount]/month charge it will pay for itself in no time.
Rating: Summary: Good Modem Review: I tried both the Toshiba PCX2200 and this cable modem. I found the Toshiba one is a bit more rigid but the linksys one is a bit faster. I do have a problem with this modem. I seem to have to screw and unscrew the cable connection most of the time for the connection when turning on and off the modem. I agree with the last reviewer on the heat problem. When they are separated, they are cool but when they are stack, they get hot. That's the only thing I don't like about stacking especially when they are turn on at all time. Anyone experience melt down?
Rating: Summary: I returned it. It wasn't compatible! Review: I returned the Linksys BEFCMU.10;ver2, because I didn't check which version Linksys modem was compatible with my local cable company's system before I purchased. This version(#2), at the time I purchased, wasn't. Had it been compatible, I'm sure it would've worked fine. I've not had any trouble with Linksys products in the past. I've rated this modem with a 3 as I wasn't able to test it.
Rating: Summary: Great product Review: I replaced the Toshiba modem that I was renting from Cox ($15/mo) with this Linksys cable modem. Modem prices have dropped considerably since I got cable 2-1/2 yrs ago. The setup was very easy (I get nervous around computers). I used the ethernet port to make the connection. It took a simple phone call to Cox to change their settings to match my new address and I was up and running in no time. Haven't had any problems. I use this cable modem in conjunction with the Linksys 4-port router. Another convenience is that the cable modem can be stacked with the cable router.
Rating: Summary: Works great with Cox Review: I bought this modem and did a self-install with Cox High-Speed internet and was up and running in about 10 minutes. I highly recommend this modem.
