Rating: Summary: Terrible products Review: I bought the 2502 powerline ethernet connector and the 2521 powerline access point. I was adding them to a network which is using two NetGear XE-102 powerline connectors. The Netgear products installed instantly without any software (except to add encryption, if you want). After several hours neither Siemens/SpeedStream product worked. Passwords are required for each device. You have to match to the default settings on the access point for all your devices. Forget it. It's a nice idea to have a powerline access point and I hope Netgear develops one. The instruction booklets are cryptic and useless.

Rating: Summary: Works right out of the box Review: I bought the SS2502 and the SS2510. They work fine. Never a problem. They are fast and reliable. I'm going to buy more SS2502s. A great, inexpensive way to wire the house.
Rating: Summary: Why pay more? Review: I originally decided on this item because of its inexpensive price. And the fact it was Siemems/Speedstream. It was everything I expected. I just plugged it in, connected it to a HUB and viola, ethernet available in any room. It's inconspicuous. I have one in the corner of my living room connecting to my Airport Basestation. Makes a much better location for the wireless.

Rating: Summary: WON'T MAINTAIN A CONNECTION!! Review: I purchased the Siemens 2502, 2521 and 2501 Powerline adapters and connected them to the outlets in my home, (which is less than five years old). The setup was easy but the included instruction guide stated little more than "plug it in". The problems began when I installed the included configuration software on my three computers equipped with WINDOWS ME and discovered that the utility program either froze Windows or took close to 2 minutes to start. The SpeedStream Support staff is aware of the problem and told me that "the programmers at Efficient Networks are working on it". The biggest issue I have is that none of the three Powerline products will stay connected for more than 10 minutes! I have tried changing outlets and even tried hooking up the adapters at my friend's house but these things simply refuse to maintain a connection. Bottom line: Unless you enjoy loosing your network connection and having to get up and reset adapters every ten minutes, stay away from Siemens Powerline products...at least for now.
Rating: Summary: Speedstream Powerline ethernet adapter from siemens Review: I use this product to connect an Xbox to my home network with a DSL modem from sprint and it works great! Their was NO setup required, just plug it in, connect a standard eithernet cable to the xbox, plug in another powerline adapter close to a standard router, plug it in there using a standard eithernet cable and I was up and running! I also bought a third powerline adapter to plug in a notebook and I tested it just about every outlet in my three story house and it worked every time!
Rating: Summary: This little "wall wart" is pretty amazing! Instant network! Review: I was skeptical of whether powerline networking really worked. So I bought two of these little "wall warts" and they instantly talked to each other to create a room-to-room network. Each wall wart plugs into an outlet just like a power adaptor, but sports a single ethernet jack on the bottom. If you hook two of them up, they talk to each other and create an instant network in your home, no need to wire Cat-5 cable, and no "dead spots" as with wireless networking. I wasn't sure how it would work in terms of TCP/IP - but it is simple. Think of powerline networking as extending the reach of your regular ethernet cable. The signals go from ethernet into your wall on one end, take a ride (hitchike) on your home's powerlines, and hop off at the other "wall wart" in the next room, where it becomes ethernet again. For example, I was able to tempoarily move my DSL modem from being next to my computer to my bedroom phone jack and power outlet. That is how I am surfing now- through the power lines, with my DSL modem sitting in the bedroom. Most people will use a router (at the head-end) but it doesn't have to be that complicated! The one negative (at least for my situation) is that I am unable to get the wall warts to communicate if the seond one is in someone else's condo other than my own. I had hoped to share my DSL connection with my fellow condo owners using only wall warts. Various reviews claim that these homeplug technology transmits signals as far as your neighbors down the street. That is obviously wrong (tech support confirmed this). It works fine across rooms in a single dwelling but the signals will not cross a circuit box, at least not in my experience. While this is a bummer for me, I think most people will like this, since your home network s obviously more secure if your neighbors can't detect it! Again, another advantage over wireless. All in all, a pretty amazing product. Note that the included manual is extremely lightweight-then again, you won't really need a manual. Note: to test the connection between wall warts, install and use the "Siemens Powerline Configuration Utility", don't rely just on whether the 'link' led lights up on the wall wart itself. Overall, Highly recommended. Makes it easy to create an instant network without laying down Cat-5 cable.
Rating: Summary: Useless Review: Save your money. Unless you connect over the same circuit the connection speed is next to zero. I bought this product after reading the Speedstrem liturature touting that it would work in larger houses - over 2000 sf. Mine is 3000. Actually, it only works on the same circuit - say in the same room. Nowhere else in the house can I get a decent connection. Useless.
Rating: Summary: Worked great Review: Worked right out of the box for me. The literature for configuring the "network" password is wanting, but with the help of a web search I was able to do it.
