Rating: Summary: Good Design Horrible Support Review: I still do not have the D-Link working. Support is permanently busy and don't respond to emails (or at least are very slow). Followed the directions out of the box and it fails to connect to the internet. Very frustrating first experience. Documentation is poorly written and does not have good troubleshooting help. Just wait til you sit on hold for 30 min - 1hour :(
Rating: Summary: Just what I needed! Review: I used to use Windows 98 ICS to share internet connection using a 56K Modem. Now that I have the D-Link DI-804 connected to my business LAN, surfing the internet in my business LAN with DSL was made possible. And I no longer have to use windows 98 ICS. I was even successful to hook two of our old PC's running on win 95 browse the web using one single DSL connection. DI-804 built in DHCP, needs absolutely no configuration. It automatically assinged IP addresses to my client PC's running on Windows95 and 98. Talk about security, the DI-804 provides safety and security from external hack attemts. It acts as a natural firewall.Think about this... a safe and secure port blocking device, DHCP, firewall, NAT, 4 n-way 10Base-T/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet LAN ports, 10Base-T WAN port, multiple machine/OS compatible . It has everything you'll need to setup your small business/home LAN, worry free!
Rating: Summary: Excellant Product at an affordable price Review: I've been using this router for about 4 months now and I have no complaints whatsoever. Installation is a breeze and adding other users to my network was also hastle-free. The router comes with a HTML menu that allows you to easily setup a webserver or FTP server if you please. The built-in firewall utility keeps a log of all attempted attacks on your computer which is also useful. Finally, the most attractive feature about this product is the price. It's priced much lower than other competitor's routers yet the performance is the same.
Rating: Summary: Simple and powerful Review: Installing the DI-804 is very simple and straightforward, even for those with little technical knowledge. For the more technically minded, if you've been put off by the comments that you can't customize the access ports, don't worry! You can, but only through the console interface, not through the web interface. If you telnet to the DI-804 from your "intranet", you can configure specific port mappings, mapping inbound traffic on a specific port to any port on any of the internal IP addresses. This isn't documented in the (thin) manual supplied, but it's fairly clear and straightforward when you are logged in to the console. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: I am impressed! Review: Let me start off by saying I know nothing about routers or networking. After waiting over an hour for my tech suave friend to arrive and hook it up for me I decided to see what I could do. Well, I was up and running, literally, in 5 minutes. Let's put it this way: You open a web browser (like netscape or IE), type in the default IP address in the booklet, hit Wizard setup, hit Next 4 or 5 times (since it is mostly configures it for you) and I was done! Personally I think it took under 5 minutes, but I know some of you would think I was lying or over exaggerating. It has been rock solid too. I am extremely pleased.
Rating: Summary: Great price - great product Review: Mine works perfectly, no complaint at all! I and my 3 roomates now can share high-speed DSL internet connection and even play games through LAN without spending about [price] bucks more to buy a hub. If you want to share Internet within your house, this product is definitely what you need!
Rating: Summary: Max throughput == 5MBit. Review: Not much to say, this is like many others this kind. What I realy like is the backup capacity. I use it hooked up to a cable modem, and use an ISDN line for backup. Works lovely. There are other things that I'd like to have found, like an easy way to block the access to some addresses, and DMZ handling too. Anyhow worths every cent.

Rating: Summary: This Gateway ROCKS! - Super Easy Set-up and Works Perfectly Review: Once I recieved this in the mail, I was excited to try it out, but didn't think it would be so easy. You usually get a computer related product and you will have to shut down your computer, open it up, install drivers when you boot back up, etc. etc. The DI-804 was Super Quick and Easy to install. All i had to do was write down what my network settings are now, and change them to detect IP Automatically, (2 minutes), plug in each computer Physically with Ethernet cables, (2 minutes) and turn the power on to the router and reboot the computers, (4 minutes). When the computers came to, I was able to access the Internet from both computers right away. Then i went to go test the firewall, and my network is in Stealth Mode now. This product is unbelieveable easy to set-up (follow instructions) and works like a charm. I highly recommend this to anyone, who wants to share their blazing cable modem access and isn't exactly a network professional.
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Box Review: Plug and play, non-stop operations for 1 month with no problem at all. Highly recommend. It supports IPSec pass through for more than one VPN connections. Especially the Hacker Log function prevents the DoS attacks from the Internet. (You can see a lot of attacks from the Internet). I am really impressed.
