Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: I got this router today. I am initially skeptical about this router because I could not find any reviews on this product. It took me less than 15 mintutes from opening the box to have my network running. Great product.
Rating: Summary: not good Review: I had problems starting immediately when I received the unit. Customer support is weak. One guy kept telling me to return it. Overall I would return it if I could.
Rating: Summary: great little box Review: I had this thing set up and running in under 15 minutes. I was using dialup on one machine at a time before and now I've got my Win95/98/2000 machines up and running on my SBC DSL using PPOE (people with static ip, DDNS, DHCP, and cable modems will find the point and click configuration options easy to use also). The manual and quick install guide was better than I expected. Overall, a very nicely designed package with a lot of great features at a very competitive price.
Rating: Summary: Run away, run far away Review: I have gone through several returns of this product and can say it is without a doubt the worst computer product I have ever bought. I was constantly getting disconected from my ISP, needing to reboot the thing and when I would reboot it it would often come back and not have the LAN ports active. My ISP has a page that lists when I signed on and for how long. The list is maintained month by month and for the last month I used the dlink I had over 100 entries for connections. The longest time of straight connection I could get was almost a day. This was horrible for trying to chat online and getting bumped every minute or for trying to download files that kept getting interupted. I finally broke down and bought a linksys product (I went all out and got one that also did wireless as I felt it would be good go get a product with longer life for me than just replace the dlink). This thing puts the dlink to shame. The web interface on the linksys is outstanding: organized, clear, fast, and more options to boot. Save the pain and just go get a linksys box (even if you don't need the wifi or think you might in the next year or two they still make a comorable nat/router box) - then you may never have to know how bad the dlink di804 is.

Rating: Summary: Very easy to setup and use Review: I just recently had my computer hooked up to DSL and I needed two more computers hooked up to the same connection. So I checked around for an inexpensive broadband router and found that the D-Link #804 fit my budget very well. I could not believe how easy it was to set it up and get it running. I have used other D-Link products and have been very happy with them. I would highly recommend this product to others.
Rating: Summary: Great Router---if you love lag (on Cable) Review: I needed a router, who doesnt, right? I picked this thing up for a great price, but I wish I would have put in a few more bucks. For AT&T Broadband, formerly Excite@Home, the lag is unbearable. Webpages takes a approx 4 to 5 times longer to load up with this router compared to a direct connection. Why pay 50/month on highspeed internet if webpages load up as quick as dialup? I soon thereafter purchased a Sohoware Broadguard router, and it works EXTREMELY quick, feels like a direct connection. I ended up gaving the D-link router to my brother who has DSL, and it runs very quick, the way I would have liked for it to work on my cable connection, oh well, I guess cable and the D-Link 804 dont mix.
Rating: Summary: Not bad for the price Review: I purchased this product before my cable modem was installed. After the techs left I had this thing going in about 4 minutes. I have run streaming audio/video, internet time, games and they all work. Have only 1 problem. It will not let me use any of my hubs to expand my network.
Rating: Summary: Easy Setup But Lacks Features Review: I purchased this router a week ago. The configuration and setup only took me 5 minutes. But this router doesn't allow me to set the port that I would like to be able to access. Instead it gives you a choice of service ports (ie HTTP, FTP, mail, etc.) that you can leave outside the firewall. There is also one other problem I've encountered. The router seems to stop responding after 48 hours of use. I have to power cycle the router in order to get it to respond. Had I known this, I would have purchased a Netgear or Linksys model.
Rating: Summary: Crashed during configuration Review: I read the manual and was initially impressed with how much was included (the descriptions of how the internet works, the roles of routers and firewalls, etc.). I started the configuration process which seemed very easy through the web browser. When I attempted to save and restart the router (a necessary step), I lost all communication with the router. I tried everything (and at this point I found out how lacking the documenation really is-- How do you use the console port? How do you upgrade firmware if the ethernet connection doesn't work?). After talking with DLink tech support on my dime, I was told I would need to return the router for a new one.
