Summary: Print Server -- NOT
Review: This thing is a piece of junk. Won't talk to HP USB printers, shows OFF line in utility software, yet the printer as online.. basically, a great idea, poorly executed.

Save your money until they get it working.

Summary: Tech Savvy
Review: Well, after trying to get this item to work for several weeks, and having used up a full ink cartridge, I'm sending it back. Their product description is very untrue: I was never able to get the bi-directional functionality to work; the only way I was able to get my printers to work was to use the ip protocol (their tech support advised me that that would be the only option, and I run Windows XP). This is a terrible product, and I will never again purchase anything by Hawking Tech, especially with other companies that put out products that actually work!! What makes my waste of time and resources even worse is that Amazon.com will charge me for the shipping. Oh well, lessons learned.

Summary: Avoid like the plague
Review: While Hawking Technologies in their packaging (and website) CLAIM that this product is compatible with most USB printers...this turns out NOT to be the case. After a frustrating 2 hours with setup and the beyond poor documentation, plus another 45 minutes on hold with Hawking tech support it turns out that this so-called print server is INCOMPATIBLE with the most popular brand of USB printers on earth, HP, along with one of the most common brands of DMP's, Panasonic. You would think they would make this very important fact known in their pitiful website (even in a FAQ) which is all but absent of any real tech support. Never again will I touch a Hawking Tech product. Horrid products, misleading advertising, nonexistent tech support.

Summary: No problems - a great solution for Home Office
Review: With trepidation I bought this print server after reading the numerous bad reviews. Call me crazy - but I was willing to take the risk because I could not find a comparable offering to fit my needs.
Like most people I have acquired a rather nice collection of printers: true laser b/w, high-end multi-function & a high-end photo printer (all of these are HP printers) I also have the need to provide access to multiple users in the household. I searched high and low and this was the only 3 printer print server I could find that mixed USB with the Parallel Port.
I consider myself technology competent - but certainly not savvy. It's true the manual is not the most intuitive - but after downloading the latest version of the drivers and firmware from the website - installation was a breeze for all 3 printers for multiple computers.
I had no problems with bi-directional communication - no problems even supporting the Multi-Function printer.
I have it attached to a 10/100 Switch (not hub) and all my systems are running XP (some home ver and some professional ver).
Can't attest for customer support - because I didn't need to call.
Just wanted to add a rare positive review for this product.
