Rating: Summary: Works great, but short cables Review: This is so straight forward and works fine. The ONLY fault I can find is that the cables are pretty short (3 feet, I think). This unit also uses a slightly different type of cable than your normal KVM, so that can be a hangup if you want to extend the reach.Other than that, it's a great item.
Rating: Summary: Linksys - Rock solid as always! Review: I looked at other switches before I found this one. Once I saw that Linksys made an affordable KVM switch I ordered it. As with other Linksys products that I have, I plugged everything in, and it worked. No hassles, no configuration, it just works! Linksys makes products that are affordable, and above all else, they do what they're supposed to do. Just for informational purposes, the two computers I hooked up are running different operating systems. One an old Win98 that my wife likes, and one a Lycoris Desktop/LX (that I love!), This didn't even cause any problems. Buy Linksys with confidence (and try Lycoris Desktop/LX (Linux desktop looks like win XP, and behaves very well ...) if you haven't seen it yet, you'll be amazed.
Rating: Summary: Highly recommended Review: I would recommend this KVM without a second thought! My two PCs are a Dell running WindowsXP and a Gateway running Redhat Linux. My wireless Logitech mouse is also working well. I've been running for 6 weeks without any problems. The cables are skinnier than some other manufacturers, but I'm running 1024x1280 at 75Hz without any noticable problems. The CTRL-CTRL hotkey also works well. You just can't beat the price!
Rating: Summary: Best bang for the buck. PERIOD. Review: I bought the KVM kit for [money] earlier from amazon. No regret, best bang for the buck. Heck, the KVM cables will probably cost more than the kit, go figure. My mouse scroll function stop responding after a while of use thoguht. Throw the sucker under the desk and use the Ctrl - Ctrl switch, forget the toggle button. Price is too expensive now, they used to have it [money].
Rating: Summary: Excellent product Review: I own one of these and just purchased another. It takes 5 minutes to set it up and with the touch of a button, you can switch between 2 computers and not have all the extra bulk on your desk. Linksys makes quality products and this is definitely one of them.
Rating: Summary: Linksys PS2KVMSK ProConnect 2 Port Compact KVM Switch Review: In a nutshell, this is an awesome solution for someone like me who works from home, trying too juggle a laptop and desktop pc in a limited work area! I love the funtionality (ctrl 2 times to switch :) it was a breeze too install, I got a killer deal (1/2 of what it would have cost retail) PLUS free shipping from my friends at Amazon.com -- I am INCREDIBLY HAPPY!
Rating: Summary: E-Z Computer Control! Review: This is a really useful item if you have a pair of computers, but limited space for monitors and keyboards. Since I frequenty build up new computers, I need to have a way to test them without disrupting my normal work station. This works great! There is no disruption of control features, and no video artifacts that plagued my other mechanical setup. Easy to setup, easy to use, easy to afford! Great to hookup laptops to full size monitors, too!
Rating: Summary: Works But Does Not Switch w/o 5V Source Review: Bought this to switch VGA source between my PC and my Dreamcast videogame console. Found out afterwards that it needs the 5V power from the keyboard in order to switch. Works fine with PC's but be aware that this KVM only switches if it has the 5V input from the keyboard. Ended up buying a mechanical switch instead made by Inland. Total price for KVM box plus cables was about the same.
Rating: Summary: simple, efficient, and it works! Review: Just wanted to echo the sentiments listed here and say that this is a great product. I just recently networked my new Windows XP computer with an older machine that runs Windows 98, and everything I went through to do this was a major hassle... except this KVM switch. No incompatibility issues, no software, no additional equipment to buy. Use either the button on the KVM switch or double tap the control button to go from one computer to the other. If only everything else about computers were so simple!
Rating: Summary: Not for IBM Review: As anothre post states this does NOT work with IBM ThinkPad. I have T20 with a docking station. It starts working up until you log-in then freezes. The only workaround is to swap the ports after the freeze--ridiculous! I'm very disappointed in Linksys.
