Rating: Summary: Excellent Product, quick and easy install!!!!! Review: Okay...I was a little leary. After reading all the reviews on this product and several similar products I was worried. I had seen where some had trouble with AMD PC's as well as the WinME operating system. Well both the PC's I wanted to network are AMD and one is running WinME. I ordered the Network in a box, with the thought in the back of my mind that I would probably have to return it. However the install went great and the network was literally up and running in an hour. The instuctions are very clear, although they don't mention WinMe at all. I just installed both as Win98, but I did have to searcht he setup disk for the NIC drivers on the WinME machine.Next we had a cable modem installed. Connected the modem to the switches uplink port, installed the sysgate software that came with the network on one machine as host and the other as client and both pc's had simultaneous Internet access! I am a complete novice to networking so I was quite timid about all of this. Completely happy with this product!
Rating: Summary: waste of time and money Review: That is 4 hours of my life I'll never get back. I have one system operating Win95 and one on ME. The driver disk that came with the networking hardware seems to be missing the drivers. The support website makes no mention of how to adjust for WinME at all. None of the suggestions they offer for for Win95 corrected the problem. I started installing the cards at 5 pm (the card installation went quite smoothly, 15 minutes for two computers), and it is now 9:05 and I am giving up. I have spent the last 4 hours downloading drivers in every conceivable way. I am taking this worthless box of hopes and dreams back to the store first thing tomorrow morning.

Rating: Summary: I like the switch, not the cards Review: The switch works great! The cards wouldn't work under Red Hat 7.1. I gave up and got some [inexpensive] Netgear 10/100 cards. The version on these cards is v4.1 which is supposed to be supported in OpenBSD 2.9. I could not, however, even find a driver that would compile under Red Hat 7.1 with the 2.4.2 kernel. I think some people have had some success with a later 2.2.x kernel.

Rating: Summary: Excellent value and performance! Review: This is really an excellent package. I wanted to note that the picture you see on Amazon.com is of version 1.0 of this set, but you'll actually receive version 2.0 (newer blue hub, lots of extra software including Activision's Soldier of Fortune game). This kit is perfect for sharing a DSL connection, and I had it up and running in no time.
