Summary: good security features and good range of signal
Review: With 256-bit WEP available and coupled with MAC filtering I feel very secure when I use this router. The MAC address filtering does seem to block LAN access as far as my tests have shown. I have two wireless NICs one in each laptop each with different MAC addresses. First both laptops were connected to the router and then I turned on MAC filtering and clicked apply. After the router restarted itself I went and checked to see which laptops were connected and they were both still connected. So I tried a bunch of other things to see why the router was letting the laptop connect and the only time MAC address filtering worked was when I rebooted the router with the reboot button. After that it seemed to not let the laptop I specified connect. So it seems as though the router will not boot a MAC address if it's already connected, and it needs to be rebooted not just restarted to actually block the MAC addresses it has in it's list.

The only thing is that the router seems to reset the time and date stamp everytime you reboot. It's a small thing, but it was annoying at first. So just don't set the time and date until you are done with everything and you wont need to reboot again.

Other than that everything else has been working as it should. There are little qwerks but I believe they will be fixed in the furture versions of the firmware.

Summary: Fast Speeds, and Very Compatible
Review: I have recently had the pleasure of installing this wireless router at my home office and I'd have to say it was very easy. I have many clients who come in to my office area and most of the time they have a laptop with a wireless card. Being in the business I am in we are always exchanging files accessing the Internet and printing things out. Everyone that has come in here has been able to connect to my wireless network and transfer files, browse the web, and print out documents. There has been a wide range of different brand names and we have been able to get them all working eventually. It is one of those things you don't really think about until you need it and when it doesn't work it really cramps your progress. I am very happy with this router and would most definitely recommend this to others who need to get other wireless adapters connected quickly.

Summary: Has been running like a top since day 1.
Review: I had this installed for me by a friend of mine who knew more about computers and networking than I do and while he was here he taught me some stuff. He let me know how I'd need to reconnect to the Internet with this router if my ISP dropped my connection, or how to troubleshoot if I had a problem. What I am getting at is that I found this product to be pretty cut and dry as far as setting it up goes. It took him about 10 minutes to get my PCs connected to the Internet and I was learning what this thing actually does in the next 15 minutes.

I have found that it is fairly easy to understand, thanks to the documentation and simple menu items. I feel much more confident about administering this router when problems arise thanks to the documentation and my friends help. M

My wife is able to connect to the Internet using her laptop from anywhere in the house now. We are all enjoying the wireless freedom and the ease of use.

My favorite part is that I haven't had to actually fix anything because the router has never seemed to fail or lose a connection. Although I do feel confident enough to fix it if and when it happens.

Summary: READ THIS FIRST!
Review: I am always a good fan for D-Link, but not for this one.
You really have to wait to see what they can change in the next firmware release.
This 22MBps should be the best choice on the market, but you should KNOW THE FACTS before you decide to buy it. Especially if this is for your BUSINESS!

Many of you bought this wireless router for the MAC Address control capability and falsely thinking that your LAN will be safe from the intruders. Now think again!

For the WIRELESS part, this router only supports CONNECTION CONTROL to the internet, NOT the ASSOCIATION CONTROL which basically means although you stopped the unauthorized user from being able to access the INTERNET using wireless( your neighbor stealing your bandwidth ), BUT it will still allow connection to your INTERNAL LAN ( your neighbor poking your Microsoft network )!

Before a wireless client can access your LAN or WAN through your router/AP, it needs to be associated with your AP. Their older DI-713P has the ability to reject the Association based on the MAC Address Allow/Deny list. (Heck, even my other unstable Compaq CP-2W can do this!) Without this capability basically anyone can associate to your AP! Hence compromising your internal LAN's security.

Most mid-range wireless routers on the market will allow you to SEPERATELY control wireless portion and LAN portion of MAC addresses. This one combined them together. This is a bad thing! In most case, wired LAN is 99% safe from outsider. So putting all the computers on the MAC list will be a hassle, especially if you have VIRTUAL SERVERS which are not using DHCP. (You can¡¦t see them on the DI-614+ web interface, you have to either use ipconfig to figure the MAC out or check the MAC label on the card! )

As for the virtual server, you can only have a list of 10 settings which in some case is not enough. Other than these, this is a NICE router!

To me, the major problem is the false sense of security they advertised. From the reviews I can see ppl thinking that way without knowing the truth.

I believed their software engineers will be working on this soon. When that¡¦s been fixed, I will definitely buy it again!

Summary: MAC USERS ALTERNATIVE
Review: Fairly easy to install, this one even has better encryption than the AirPort Base Station and I saved [alot of money] I had to buy an AirPort Card because D-link does carry cards compatible for MAC, but this was a blessing because the it installed inside my laptop above the PC card slot, leaving the PC card slot open. The install was even easier with my Dell Desktop, hooking it up to 1 of the 4 ethernet ports in the back of the DI-614+.

Summary: low price and lots of features
Review: I was mainly interested in this router because of the price to feature ratio compared to others. It has so many features and such a low price that I am amazed that it can be offered at this price. Lots of security features, 256 WEP, URL/IP/MAC filtering, SSID broadcast can be turned on or off, and a bunch of others.

The setup was rather painless and short, and I had my internet connection and wireless access up and running in about 20 minutes.

Summary: Great Product and Awesome Security
Review: I have Earthlink DSL via PPPOE with static IP and this router was super easy to setup. The web based manager provided me with a setup wizard which lead me through all the steps to get up and running on the Internet. The wireless portion of this router is almost just as easy to set up. I chose what channel I wanted to use, changed my SSID from default to whatever I wanted, enabled 256-bit WEP encryption, and set it up so only my wireless MAC addresses could access my LAN.

All of this was done within about 15 minutes, including physical install and configuration.

Plain and simple, I am very pleased with this product because of it's ease of setup and security features. (On a side note, make sure to upgrade to the latest firmware so you get the option to NOT broadcast your SSID to the world for even better security.)

Summary: One problem with PPPOE turned out to be with ISP
Review: I am giving this product 5 stars because I have had absolutely no problems with it since I got it. Except on the initial setup trying to connect to my ISP via my DSL line since it is a PPPOE connection. I had some wrong information about my PPPOE settings from my ISP so everytime I tried to connect I would get errors. That was all fixed with a quick call to my earthlink customer support.

The wireless portion of this router was where I thought I'd have problems, but it turned out everything worked like it was supposed to right out of the box. I was pleasantly surprised to see how easy and quickly I was able to get my laptop up and running on the internet. There are some advanced settings that deal with performance on the wireless end, but since everything is working fine, I have no desire to mess around and accidently break something.

Summary: essential parental controls and fast enough speeds
Review: The feature I like most about this device, besides the wireless, is the parental controls that are available. I can control what websites my children's' computers wont see, and when they are allowed or not allowed to access the Internet. This is also helpful for keeping out unwanted users on the wireless portion of the network. The rated 22Mbps is perfectly fast enough for our family to play games online, share files, browse the Internet, share a printer, and everything else without waiting forever.

Setup was made extra simple because of the quick install guide and the setup wizard. Once you plug it in you are shown the setup wizard so you can start configuring your router properly. As soon as I had the settings correct I couldn't click the status button quicker than the other computers connected to the router and were ready to browse the Internet. Our other computers have D-Link 802.11b+ cards in them.

I am very satisfied with the speeds we get, the setup process, the parental controls and the price for all of these features fits well. Knowing your family's computers are safe and protected without having to punch holes in the walls or climb in the attic is a great feeling. This is well worth the purchase.

Summary: good product, but not as advertised
Review: I'm using DI-614+ and DWL-650+. It's very easy to setup, but you need to install driver (without the card in your laptop) first. Otherwise, windows won't see the device. This is a step backward compare to other PC wireless card.
Speed is another thing that these products don't work the way they are supposed to work. I can get only up to 11 Mbps instead of 22 Mbps.
