Summary: Not recommended
Review: I purchased this wireless router hoping to replace my 3 years old LinkSys router. However, after playing with it for several hours, I decided to return it because of the following (using firmware 2.18):1. MAC filtering: Can't make it for wireless only. Once it is enable, it is for both wireless and wired network. This is the MOST annoying part. I mean, why do I want to enable MAC filtering for my wired network??? 2. Router configuration: Very primitive comparing to my old LinkSys. 3. Enable/Disable Wireless: It didn't really disable the wireless network(physically). It shoulded be called "allow/deny all" access instead. Once the wireless is "disabled", it does still broadcast the SSID. 4. No way of disabling SSID broadcast for security reasons. Finally, I have to give DLink credit for making upgrade firmware so easy (Web base), which is a big improvement comparing to my old linksys router.

Summary: Poorest product I had purchased recently
Review: Being in charge on a mid sized ISP I have purchased thousands of dollars of network cards, routers and related equipment. In a moment of weakness (Store was out stock of brand I wanted) I purchased the D-Link AirPlus DI-614+ router and matching PCI card. They are installed 1 floor apart and about 10'of distance. I consistently adverage a signal strength of 45-55% and see packet loss of at least 10%+ consistently. What this means is that my T-1 connection is reduced to about dial up speed if I am lucky. I called their 24 hour phone support to ask for assistance and they said that their product sometimes has problems between floors and recommend that I buy a repeater router. They got to be kidding, performance of 3% of rated claims and they expect me to purchase additional equipment from them.

Summary: Major problems abound
Review: Even with their most recent firmware release my problems are still present. I have 2 PCs with their AirPlus PCI nics and a laptop with a thirdparty wireless nic. My top of the line Toshiba laptop w/ integrated wireless nic constantly experiences network outages. The signal strength and quality is excellent, yet the network drops at least once a minute and then reconnects shortly thereafter. I even went as far as to reinstall the O/S. The PCs with the AirPlus nics seem to be working great though. They seemed to have fixed the bandwidth problem and I am finally getting some decent download speeds. If you plan on using a third-party nic, do not buy this router. This item should never have been released with the major problems that it has/had. Too many people have had issues with this router. When I contacted tech support last time (which was useless), and I told them I was using their feature to not broadcast the SSID, the gentleman asked "why". I told him because its a great security feature and I want to use it! He said you dont need that and basically told me not to use it, not explaining why when I asked him. I went as far to tell him, you provide a feature and you don't even support it? This feature does not work. I will personally never buy another D-Link product. I don't even want to sell this item on E-Bay because I don't want to stick someone else with this inferior product.

Summary: Airport Card / Ibook & Wireless PC Lovers Dream!
Review: The D-Link 614+ 4 Port Wireless Router is the best router on the market, hands down! Don't just believe me, go to techtv and look at the review yourself. The D-Link Router is very easy to setup and is friendly to wireless apple airport cards and other pc pcmcia wireless cards for laptops. I was up and running in 10 minutes. The only issue, and I stress only, is that when you plug this router in and start your computer up, you may need to disconnect your cable modem or DSL and reconnect it again. Your computer needs to know that its ip changed from the direct cable modem connection to a firewall router. Do it a couple of times at least and it will work. I'm confident that was the problem some users had on this review. The did not disconnect their cable modem and router, reset them both, and reconnect them while the pc was off. 5 out of 5 and for the $, its the best item on the market.

Summary: Works great, just plug and play!
Review: No problems setting up the router, just plugged it in (in place of our existing 4-port D-link DI-704) and it worked beautifully. We have Cox cable modem service with a static IP address so I don't know if it works with DHCP (see other reviews). Signal strenth is great, 100% even downstairs. No compatibility issues with my Belkin 11mbps pcmcia card. Haven't tried WEP yet so I can't rate that either.

Summary: Rated best wireless router by PCWorld
Review: This router is by far the best. In a recent PC World test, it was one of the cheapest and fastest available. If you connect with a AirPlus wireless card (like I do, I bought the two in a bundle), the speeds and ranges are extraordinary. The interface is easy enough for a novice to set up or detailed enough for people like me to tweak everything they want. You can block/allow virtually any kind of access many different ways (IP, domain name, MAC address, etc). I can't say enough about this product. I bought it a semester ago and it still is one of the best. Don't delay, espically with this price!

Summary: DI614+ problems and tribulations
Review: I bought the D-link wireless router to go with my home office net and it workd well except for a mechanical, not computer, problem. I hooked everything up to directions and when it became necessary to plug the Cat5 cable into the router it wouldn't fit! The cable keeps popping out of the jack. Thinking it was just a bad cable, I tried 5 others and got the same results. After calling support, I was given an RMA and they shipped out another unit. Happily I hooked it up, but I had the same problem. I called support again and have another RMA.
I also happened to see a tech in a large, well-known outlet store, who said he uses D-link routers and has never had a problem. He asked me to bring it in for a free inspection and that's just where I'm heading today.
I'm using it with 2 desktop pc's and an Axim 5 with a CF card WiFi adaptor and it works well when the cable stays put. I get a message on my desktop that a network cable is unplugged, then another that says cable is reconnected.
Try before you buy!

Summary: Buy all D-Link Products!
Review: I have 4 D-Link products. A DI-604 (router), DWL-650+ (laptop card), DWL-520+ (desktop adapter), and this DWL-900AP+ (Access Point). I love them all. The installation of each product is easy to do since they each have good documentation and even a setup wizard on some. Configuring them to work with each other is super easy since they pretty much work out of the box with each other. Makes sense. As far as this 900AP+ goes I am quite impressed on the actual range I get and the strong signal that travels through 2 walls to get to my desktop and I still get above 75% signal strength.
The ease of use of this Access point is a huge plus since all you need is a web browser (internet explorer) and the password. Setting up 256-bit WEP makes me feel safe and only when you have all D-Link can you have this high of encryption. Otherwise you just have to settle for 128-bit WEP. I was impressed with this access point and it has lived up to what it is supposed to do, so I am very pleased. All the other D-Link products work flawlessly as well. Also the tech support for D-Link picked up pretty quick the one time I called them. They were also very helpful in their quest to find my answer.

Summary: Easy to Use and Works Very Well in My Home.
Review: I was able to install this with no problems at all. I had one wireless PCI card adapter (DWL-520) in my desktop, and one CardBus adapter (DWL-650+) in my laptop. Everywhere in the house I was getting a strong signal with no packet loss. I was impressed with this router because it has such a low price, I thought I might get a lemon, but I gave it a try anyway. I sure was glad I did because that same night I bought it I had it up and running perfectly. It was easy to secure my wireless connection, configure the firewall, and all that stuff. I since then sold this router to move up to 802.11g speeds. I got the DI-624 because D-Link had done so well with this router/AP combo. I made another good decision thanks to D-Link. I recommend this router if you are on a budget and the DI-624 if you want the 802.11g stuff. One thing to keep in mind is that it is a good idea to keep the same brands of products. So if you buy this router buy a card that goes with it. You will find it easier to install things and the speeds are better when you have D-Link with D-Link. Makes sense huh?

Summary: Don't buy any D-LINK products
Review: I bought DI-614+ wireless router and DWL-520 NIC card. The PC that has the card is only 40 feet away from the router but it cannot receive the signal or very week (sometime got connected and disconnected rightway. This means my installation should be correct). The specs of both products say the indoor working ranges are more than 300feet. Customer service from D-LINK is horrible. Each time you call for help you have to wait for more than half an hour. I have tried to call support agentsfor 3 times. Each time I got aome one for help after long long waiting but none of them could give me a solution. Generally, it is a pain to buy D-LINK products.
