Summary: Excellent for sharing high speed internet
Review: This unit worked great for the simple task I had for it. All I wanted was to connect two computers to the DSL modem and provide security against attacks. The basic setup was easy to follow and I had it up and running faster than a dial-up modem or printer. The interface is entirely web-based and very straightforward.

As far as security, I ran a security check on it from www.dslreports.com and the unit scored a zero (perfect score).

The only reason I didn't give it an extra star was the fact that the advanced options didn't have any explanation. The documentation assumes that you know what you're doing and what it is you want. In other words, it explains how to use some of the advanced features but not when or why to use them.

Summary: excellent product
Review: I bought and hooked up this router yesterday. I was a bit apprehensive, but everything went without a hitch and is working well so far. I have not tried the print server feature yet though. It took about 45 minutes. However I had also bought a SMC network card but had problems with that--after installing the card in my win98 system , windows could not find the driver on the supplied CD-rom! Had to return it.

Summary: Returned product after one day
Review: I bought this router to make my internet connection more reliable. It went down three time in the first day (I wrote a longer review here but lost it when it went down the third time).

I did call SMC technical support which is available 24x7. They had me set the link speed/duplex from Auto-detect to 10mbs/half duplex. This did not fix the problem. She told me I needed to keep rebooting the router. I'm sure the router has been much more stable because others have given this five stars but I can't trust the uptime on this box and based on my one star experience.

Summary: A very good router
Review: After doing an entensive research on routers, I decided to buy SMC7004ABR. It's a very good router and very easy to install. I have two computers (will build the third one later) and all of them have network adapter card installed previously. All I need to do is to connect my PCs to SMC7004ABR router.

Later, I connect this router to a DSL modem. After some settings, all my computers can access the Internet through router.

I recommand SMC7004ABR to everyone who is looking for a good router.

Summary: it goes strong after 3 years of use
Review: I have nothing much to say about this little hard-wired router
SMC should keep producing this product
the most impressed part is stability
almost no disconnect/hanging with verizon DSL
the print server works fine as well
the only gripe is a little bit slow with UDP, no big deal
SMC has made some masterpieces
this router
SMC 2804WBR (grey version, not silver one), this one REALLY HAS SUPER RANGE with appropriate antenna, better than MS MN700, both "624" so-called Super G

hoorah, SMC!
