Rating: Summary: NETGEAR Fan! Review: As stated in the other review, this product is housed in a sturdy metal casing, has lots of indicator lights, and comes from Bay Networks.I use my DS-108 in a 100% Netgear environment. It is connected to my NetGear RT-328 ISDN Router. I have had no problems with this piece and it worked as advertised right out of the box. The support for NetGear products is great! You can get lots of answers from the NetGear website as well as register your products online too. I am a Systems Administrator for a growing software development company, and I give NetGear two thumbs up! If you can't or don't want to pay big bucks for Cisco, 3Com, Intel, then NetGear is for you-- the most BANG for the BUCK!
Rating: Summary: Mediocre Hub With Issues Review: I've been using this hub for about 6 months now and am looking to replace it. About once a week, it hangs unrecoverably and requires its power cord removed to power it off, then replaced to reset it. In short, it is really a pain, and since hubs like this are a dime a dozen you would probably be better off with an SMC or a D-Link.
Rating: Summary: Mediocre Hub With Issues Review: Net gear is owned by by Bay Networks, which does not make rinky dink equipment. This hub has solid metal construction, sockets in the front, and lots of flickering lights that show the tranfer speed, and show who is connecting at either 10 or 100 Mbs. We use it to share one (adelphia 2-way cable) internet connection among 6 PCs, along with files and printing. No problems so far. This hub handles the standard hub task with ease, and with a utilitarian aesthetic quality that you won't see in 3com's white plastic. 3Coms tries to disguise their hub as an external modem- why? (p.s. I'm confused as to why 3Com's 8-port 10/100 hub costs over twice as much)

Rating: Summary: Netgear Equals Superb Service Review: This holiday season I was a good santa and purchased numerous wireless networking products for my various family members. Sure it was partially a selfish act as I wanted to be able to easily connect when I went to visit, but for the most part it was just an act of giving. I purchased mainly G products and they varied from routers to USB adapters to PC Card adapters. I did also purchase a couple of B products for those in the family that already had some wireless networking products (yes, I know they are backwards compatible but I didn't want to take any chances).
Only two members of the family had installation problems (considering my family is very non-technical I was quite impressed) and those two people both had yet to upgrade to Windows XP SP2. The rest of the family members were up and running within minutes.
As for the couple of family members that did have problems, well they called me first (of course) and I told them to just run back through the installation procedure again. This solved the problem for Uncle Dennis but Grandma Joyce still couldn't get it to work properly. I reluctantly told her to call Netgear's technical support (hey the reviews on Amazon haven't been too pretty for their tech support). I however was quite pleased when an hour later I got an email from Grandma Joyce thanking me for the great gift. I called her back and she told me that after fiddling with the settings with the Netgear people she was up and running within 30 minutes.
Overall, I consider this the ultimate test of product quality and support and I would give Netgear two thumbs up.
I hope this review was helpful to you in putting your mind at ease regarding ease of setup and trust of technical support if needed.
Rating: Summary: Way better than Linksys! Review: Too many Linksys hubs getting cooked. I've replaced several of them with this hub without a problem since. NETGEAR TAKE NOTE: When you have a LOT of Netgear components, you want them all to look/stack in a uniform manner! So why the silly silver oval garbage with the dim LED's??? I like rectangular blue metal! It's a much more professional design to work with. Get these hubs before they're all gone and all you can get is funny colored plastic.
