Summary: Dont ever buy a Linksys
Review: I work with a University network, we sell and support all different kinds of NIC's and from experience. there and SMC nic's have always performed the worst. My advice is to go with a 3COMM or, even better yet, a NETGEAR card

Summary: Card works perfectly
Review: Because of a delay with my DSL account setup, I was given the card by my ISP for no charge. I installed it and had it working within five minutes with absolutely no problems on my Win98 machine. My download speeds have been fine. The only change that I have made was to switched the included CAT5 cable with the newer CAT5e(or is it "A", i can't remember offhand)and gained a significant increase in download speed.

Just as in any other product market, consumers have been brainwashed to believe that big names and higher prices = better quality. Prior to getting DSL, the two 33.6k and later two 56k modems I bought for my two computers have all been small name brands. I never had a single problem with any one of them and I also bought each for about $30 dollars cheaper than say a 3Com or a motorola. My parents on the other hand have a computer that had a 3com modem in it that fried. Go figure.

I also think that many average home users that buy these products have limited know-how when it comes to installing and configuring these products. And just because someone tells you they are an IT expert doesn't mean they really are or that they know as much as they think they do. This I have learned through extensive experience in dealing with several of my clients' IT people.

For less than twenty bucks, buy the card. Use common sense while installing it and unless you happen to get a defective card (which even 3com has put on a store shelf)you shouldn't have any problems. And if you do, don't assume automatically that it's the card. In many cases it's probably Windows itself. Call your ISP with internet problems; call you computer tech support about computer problems.

Summary: Warning - They never send this product!!
Review: I ordered this product 1 month back, but haven't received it yet! And they say it won't be shipped for another 2-3 weeks! The whole mail-in-rebate is a fiasco to trap poor customer, because you will never receive the product before the mail-in-rebate offer expires!!!

Summary: Nice card, very nice price !
Review: I had no trouble installing this card in my Windows 2000 Server. I connected my Cable modem to it and success came quick and easy. It has been in use for several months without any problem. Great product, great price. I also have one of these in my Windows NT computer on this network - where it is also working fine. Cheers !

Review: These guys that have worked with networking for ABOUT 2 yrs?! First of all he does'nt even know how long he has been doing this job and, second of all,he obviously did not know what the hell he was doing. This product ROCKS ecspeially when used with their one and only cable router.I installed a 5 pc system from the ground up and used LINKSYS cards also and never had a problem the interface is easy to use and even runs diagnostics also. I highly reccomend this product!! Do not listen to the whinners that do not know what they are doing!

Summary: They work for me in win98 and linux (dist. mandrake 7.0)
Review: I have a client server network at home 6 PC's and the linksys seems to work flawlessly so far. I've been netowrking for 8 years and went from lnepciII to lnetx100 in the last 4 years. Both lynksys cards installed easily and the drivers were picked right up in 95/98(although I did have to browse the floppy to win9x folder to find them). In Linux they work perfectly as ne2000 compatible. I would have to say I am suprised to see so many angry users. I have to give it 5 and a good review!

Summary: Linksys creeping up on 3COM
Review: I took a networking class at my high school this year (the MCSE Networking Essentials) and alone fulfilled the class objective. We were supposed to put together a stand-alone network by the end of the semester with the computers from the previous semester's A+ Cert. class. We had two Linksys ISA cards and a PCI card, and an SMC card. I got to take home the PCI card because they didn't work in the computers we had. It plugged in to Windows 2000 Pro easily, and I had no trouble getting my DSL connection up and running. We're going Linksys to network our home now. 3COM has consistently disappointed me in their modems, and the one 3COM NIC card we had didn't operate! I tried it on at least 3 different PCs, including my own.

Summary: B+
Review: I did not have problems to install or run the card. As for speed, it's exactly same as 3Com's expensive one in my notebook. A 22MB file can be tranferred in less than 9 seconds. Hope this also works for linux(I haven't tried it). ... I gave it 4 stars because i found the cable cannot fit nicely to the card.

Summary: You get what you pay for!!!
Review: A very very poor product. I gave 1 star cos I could'nt go lower than that. I have been networking for at least 2 yrs. and yeah I have worked with the big names. But they never give any problems. I am believer in giving an opportunity to others. So I did and I suffered. THIS PRODUCT DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE RIGHT DRIVER IN THE PROVIDED DISK. I had to go thier website and download the driver. Well, that was not the end. I must have added and removed this about 10 times and finally I gave up.

I am going to return this product and pay little more money and get a better one.

I WOULD NEVER BUY ANY PRODUCT FROM THIS COMPANY.

I tried to call tech support between 9-10 pm and I must have waited for an hour and then I gave up. There is no message about wait..nothing.
