Summary: Sluggish, erratic connects
Review: It is a cheap residential gateway and it behaves like one. It has the wierd behaviour of dropping packets, sluggish transfers. Using a remote terminal app through the router like ssh was a nightmare. Some sites would time out while connecting. I did upgrade the firmware - but in vain.

I suspected my roadrunner uplink at first, but then i connected my computer directly to the cable modem and the connection behaved MUCH better. Over a period of 5 minutes, a ping dropped only 2% of the packets when connected directly to the cable modem, vs 30% when connected via the router. The problems started to appear once i tried to change some settings (NTP server, domain name etc). But I could not reset to defaults by using the button at the back !

Some computer links would just go down and the router would show a steady blinking activity. My laptop's internal network port would drop the physical link to this srouter, but work fine with my other DI-704.

Stay away from this cheap stuff.

Summary: Perfetly Easy Setup - Plenty of Features
Review: I recieved this in the mail the other day and when I got it open it was actually smaller than I suspected. It's little, but it is cute little. I was able to configure it correctly with my ISP to establish a connection within aout 5 minutes. I casually browsed through the rest of the features that are available within this home router and I was impressed. You can set a schedule for a PC to be able to connect to the Internet. (great for kids)

I also heard this is more secure than other routers because it doesn't only have NAT, but Stateful Packet Inspection as well. I don't notice anything, but if they say it's more secure then I guess I will have to believe them.

Summary: Does the Job, most of the time.
Review: This was the typical plug and play router on the market. You plug it in and it for the most part configures itself. You can "tweak" it out if you prefer or just leave it alone. You do or should download the firmware upgrade. I have had it up and running for over a month now and had to reboot the router twice for "non-connectivity", once might have been my fault. I didn't have to rebuild it from scratch like other models and brands in the past. You can clone you Mac address, use dhcp or static addressing. You can configure it so that you pc is seen or hidden to the outside world. Block PC's from accessing the internet, or schedule when they are allowed to access the internet. Great for those Home networks with kids in mind.

Summary: Yes, it DOES work with Ameritech DSL & XP
Review: It took me awhile to figure out what was wrong, and why it wouldn't work. After resolving a different Ameritech DSL issue, I found out that the free download version of Zone Alarm was horking (technical term) my PC. Seems that even when ZA wasn't running, it somehow put the clamp down on port 80 - which is what you go through to administer the router.

Now, if only I can figure out the firewall protection and know what I'm getting. The only poor part of this router is the documentation for novices.

Summary: Everything has been Working Great for Me!
Review: I have WinXP on both of my computers and I use a SpeedStream 5360 DSL modem along with Earthink ADSL and everything has been working great since I set it up a couple weeks ago. I am astonished at the features you get for such a low price. I wasn't looking for anything special when I was shopping for a 4-port router so I got the lowest priced one. To my surprise this has parental control settings (block domains, URLs, certain PCs from accessing the Internet, etc) plus it has better security than just the routers with NAT.

I have had no problems with this router since the 10 minutes it took to install it and support was able to help me out, eventhough I did have to wait quite a while on hold. Overall I have to give it 5 stars because I really haven't seen any flaws.

Summary: DI-604
Review: I am still trying to find my other computer. Only one internet access available so far. Firewall C-D rom is a program that will offer to sell you a firewall. Reminds me of OCR scanner software :). I got 30 days to send it back so I guesse I will try a while longer to find my other computer and access the internet with both my Home Computers. I been trying a week now.But one good thing, I have learned a little about networks :)

Summary: Does not work with my ISP as well !!
Review: I was shocked at the amount of work this product required to configure and I could not (for my ISP atleast). The Customer support also is very bad. They did not get back to me in time for any of the clarifications I requested. Overall, a horrifying experience in configuring it and trying to figure out whats wrong.

At the same time I also would like to say that Linksys Router worked great in the same situation. I just plug it in and it works just as I expect!

Summary: A Whole Lot of Features for Not a Whole Lot of Money
Review: This is actually one of the least expensive routers/switch/firewalls I've ever seen on the market. I have been following the router market for the past 6-8 months or so just because I was interested in getting one, but I never really had that much money to spend. As soon as the DI-604 came out I was excited about how inexpensive it was, but was a little worried about why it was priced that low. (maybe they cut some features out or slowed it down)

Then I read all the reviews I was seeing online. Everyone praises this router for its ultra fast speeds, lots of features, and low low price. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase and I just can't believe the price is so low for something so outstanding.

I really couldn't praise it more, just read the other reviews.
