Summary: Incredible value
Review: The combination of features and the price make this a great unit. Before I start, a word of warning - I use the product with RoadRunner in Columbus, Ohio; we are a pure DHCP with no login style of cable system; your "mileage" may vary depending or your ISP.

I had this unit setup and working in 5 minutes. 1 - Turn off the cable modem and your PC. 2 - Install the DSL router. (Use good quality NON-crossover cables.) 3 - Turn on the cable modem. 4 - Turn on the DSL router. 5 - Turn on the PC. You are done. For most people, this is all that is needed.

Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1 and check the release level of the software. Then, check LinkSys and verify you have the latest version. A couple of the early releases had a few "gotchas".

I have used this router with a combination of machines running NT 4.0, Windows 98, Windows 2000 (Professional and Advanced Server), and Red Hat Linux with no problem (There shouldn't have been since this is a standard DCHP server and NAT box.)

I just finished a 60Mb down load with no problem.

Some people may need more functionality than this box delivers (advanced filtering, etc.) This is NOT a $2000 Cisco router and it doesn't try to be. Check you needs and if you are a typical SOHO user; this unit will most likely fill the bill.

Summary: Just Perfect!
Review: I have recommended this to all my co-workers and every single one of them have purchased this unit. It's perfect. What other products give you firewall protection, DHCP, ability to set up your own internal network, and a 24hr excellent support? Only this. If you have more than one computer, with high speed internet service than there is no question. This is perfect. Plus, you don't have to be a network guru to set this up. Might as well advertise this as plug-n-play!

Summary: Excellent product, terrible tech support
Review: Instructions were clear and easy and setup was a breeze. I had one minor problem - wound up being how I had Networking setup on one pc - but I called tech support and was told I'd receive a call back shortly. That was 18 hours ago. I found my problem in the meantime and the product does everything it claims to do. However, if you have a problem and want fast "24x7" support (as they claim), don't count on it.

Summary: Easy to Install !
Review: Fine piece hardware for a SOHO network. It was very easy to connect an configure the unit. The qucik installation guide instructions are little bit different to the instructions given in the the user guide. I followed the quick guide and found every thing in working order in a matter of few minutes. However I called the tech support prior to installation and found out that they are slow to respond. It took more than a couple of days for a tech guy to call me. The only draw back is that Lynksis not providing a category 5 patch cable with the unit. So while you wait for the router to arrive (that is if you mail order it like me) run to your nearest computer store and buy a piece of network cable and avoid any suprise.

Summary: Linksys Success Story
Review: I can hardly call this a success story, but I will because, linksys claims they have a tech support staff 24 hours a day.

At 12pm I called the 800 tech support number, and was welcomed to an operator that assured me that a tech would call me in two hours. At 10pm I called the 800 number again to find out that I was still not contacted and that at midnight call backs would cease. He assured me that a senoir tech would call me in the morning. Once again I call at 12:30am only to find out from another operator that the techs were still doing call backs through the night.

This tech support staff is nearly as good as the billing staff at pacific bell.

I really hope I can talk to a tech that can help me get my damn dsl/cable router to work correctly.

Summary: Great product-Excelent value
Review: I use it with Road Runner, and I had my router working in 15 min. I lost a little bit of internet speed (but never lees than 800 kbps). Just the switch feature itself is worth the cost of the router and the Firewall protection is excelent.

Summary: Great Router for the price
Review: I have seen lots of products like this, but this is the first one I've seen that lets you have advanced configuration control. That is great for us geeks, yet anyone that can hook up a stereo system could start using this product right away.

The lack of ports is no big deal, since it is a switch, there is no problem using the uplink to a simple hub if you need to.

Highly Recommended.

Summary: Drops connections when used for PPPoE DSL connection
Review: Continuously dropped connection to my ISP. Customer support lacking, didn't receive a return call until several days later. Router is now a paper weight.

Summary: Linksys Rocks
Review: The Linksys Cable/DSL router is a great price for what you get. Other Companies have the same product out like UMax Ugate 3000 but at almost twice the cost of the linksys. Also the Linksys supports VPN and the Ugate does not. I would recommend this to others that would have to purchase additional IP addresses from the cable companies. Great solution and great price

Summary: Linksys Comes through
Review: There are many other devices out there that do the same thing, Like the UGate 3000 however, the UGate doesnt support VPN, I have one of the Linksys BEFSR41's and Love it A must need if you are on a Cable provider that requires that you Buy a second IP address
