Summary: Easy and Trouble-free Installation, Excellent Performance
Review: I am using this router to network 4 computers and provide broadband access to all 4. Although these computers use a variety of different Windows operating systems, the router installed in a matter of minutes without any trouble, and performs flawlessly. It is an excellent buy!

Summary: Anti Hack
Review: On a High Speed Cable System, recovering from being HACKED (Beware of Trojan Horses) was fast approaching a full time job. I haven't been hacked since the virtual 'Drop In' installation of this device. (I also recommend TDS3 software to clean and keep them out.) No Server software is needed to place other machines on the same Internet Hookup at full speed, with the DHCP server is built in to this 'Box'. Just plug them in, either 10 Base T or 100 Base TX. Works equally well with DSL or Cable Modem. This is the 'Best Price' I've seen on this item.

Review: I have 4 of these and have had them since last July 2000 before they got cheaper. 2 at home piggybacked so that one handles the public IPs I have on my iDSL and one is plugged into that one to handle all the 192.168.* type NAT addresses. Works great. I only wish the uplink port was 100bTX too. Also have 1 with a spare configured already at my colocate server location at an ISPs in another state. works great as a pure ethernet to ethernet router. That one is routing a whole class c where 50 addresses are in use. Only problems were some config problems and utter lack of manual info (last summer at least) on how to set up advanced features.

Review: I ain't no techie genius, and I linked up the two pc's in my house in about 20 minutes. From reading the other reviews it shouldn't take much longer to setup my cable modem when I get it either. "If you have the means I highly reccomend picking one up."

Summary: Quick and easy
Review: I recently hooked up my Linksys 4-port Cable/DSL router to my AT&T cable system and it works great. I would recommend having the router there when the installation people setup your cable modem. If the guys are nice, they'll setup the router with you so you won't have to rename your computer.After that you can go in and configure some of the advanced features if you want. I got the 4-port so I can hook up the computer that is right next to the cable modem and I'll connect the Linksys Wireless Access Point I just purchased to one of the other ports. Then add Wireless access cards in my laptop and my other pc so I don't have to worry about running CAT-5 cable throughout the house and our patio. Works great. I would highly recommend it.

Summary: Stops hackers in their tracks
Review: I run Microsoft's Personal Web Server on Windows 98 from home so I can access my files from work. Although BlackICE Defender worked well for months, it coundn't handle DoS (Denial of Service) attacks. Some creep in Spain had shut out my system by continuously grabbing all open connections; no one else could access my system. Linksys to the rescue! It did take a little while to learn what ports needed to be open for the services I wanted to use (21 for FTP, 80 for HTTP, 113 and 6667 for IRC and 6688 for Napster), but now I am back on the air. Thank you Linksys and death to all hackers and their offspring. BUY THIS NOW!

Summary: EASY to setup in 10 minutes
Review: I had read many reviews saying how great this router was and I also found quite a few ripping it. I was also considering the Netgear. I decided to give this Linsys the shot knowing that if is wasn't any good Amazon would readily take it back. I could not believe how easy this was to set up. I first used DHCP. That was so easy I went straight to setting up Static IP's. I love this router. Feeling pretty cocky about now I decided to upgrade the firmware which was also very easy. Just read the manual and the web page if you have any problems. My boss bought the Netgear at the same time I picked up the Linksys and he had some difficulty setting ut up. I love the logging and port forwarding features that this router provides. If you want to save some money you could always use Linux to create a Natting firewall but why this is so small, cheap and easy, virtually no learing curve.

Summary: Work's Great with Cox Cable
Review: Was able to make a static Ip address with this item and use DHCP to run four computer's, on the net, at the same time. Adding switch(8 port) to use uplink. I am sure it will do the same job. If you have cable, grab one of these fast. It does not give you a log on hits to your firewall, but I do not need to see it. I just want it to work and it does. Very well made and a great price.

Summary: Very nice piece of hardware
Review: I have a LinkSys 4-Port Etherfast Cable/DSL Router running on a home LAN. Right now it's sharing my cable modem connection between my Windows 2000 box, my Mac G4 tower, my Mac G4 Cube and my Debian Linux box. It was quick and painless to set up. I can't say enough about this unit and how happy I am with it. I would have given it 5-stars but..... My two pet peeves are that the manual and documentation have too little information about advanced topics such as IP/Port forwarding and important tips like how to get IRC (ident) working with the router. While the manual does mention these things, they explanations are too brief. Also, if you're using this on a Mac network, it's not as easy to upgrade the router's firmware and the manual gives you no explanation as how to do this. If it weren't for the above mentioned discrepancies, this would be a 5-star rating. Hardware-wize, this baby simply rocks!
