Summary: Order the NetGear router instead!
Review: Order the NetGear router instead! This units too lightweight.

Summary: Easy to use, works just like the box says it would!
Review: I absolutely love this product. It made setting up my own home network a snap. Now all my computers can share the same T1 line, as well as each other's files. Additionally, it provides the security of a hardware firewall! I can specify which ports are open to which computers, rendering the computers MUCH more protected from the outside internet. Plus, the router is small and easily sits on top of my subwoofer. You can't go wrong buying this.

Summary: Great product - Dicey customer support
Review: The router itself works great! I have a full configuration using the Linksys router and their wireless access point which is working fine. Easy set up, but be prepared to wait if you need to call their customer support line.

Summary: Worth Its Weight in Gold!
Review: The EtherFast Router is one of the easiest to use and most functional networking products I have encountered.

Setup was a breeze with the QuickStart manual (even on a Mac, which is not specifically supported in the documentation), and the six computers in my house were up and running within a half our.

I have not had to reset the router once, and it has yet to malfunction in any way (even with my DSL line going up and down).

If you have more than one computer and need (or want) to share a line, this product is worth every cent. It is most definately a five star product.

Summary: Great, easy tu install and use, also for INTERNATIONAL users
Review: Hi,

I live in santiago de Chile, here in Southamerica. I have a DSL line from the first local company to offer DSL here. I was affraid this Router had some US specifics on it. But I bought it, I installed it here, and it's PERFECT.. Really incredible. So, if any user outside the US is willing to get this babyu, don't be affraid, as long as it works in Chile, it will work everywhere ! :) I am using it with a NOKIA (M51) machine for DSL, my phone company here in Chile is www.manquehue.net

PROS: ----- - Very easy to setup. - Transparent use and setup for NON-Technology guys - Fits vertically or horizontally (important for space savers) - Great performance without gliches so far nor drops. - Firmware upgradable, great for new protocols to update - Great Firewall, I have run many test's like the one from Symantec or CNet, and my system is very secure agains hacker attacks - Web based configuration - REAL out-of-the-box solution

CONS: ---- - All configuration menues and manuals in English (important to consider for international customers) - Does not include a basic CAT5 cable, you have to buy it by yourself. - Status LEDs don't give a good feedback on what is going on. - Since it has web based configuration, it requires MS Internet Explorer to use it, this is not good for users who use browsers like Opera or other not so well known software.

BOTTOM LINE ----------- I pay 1 Internet broadband connection, and I browse the web in my home with 3 compputers at the same time AND I have a router/switch at home... What else could you ask for US$120 ??

regards, Alexander Schek

Summary: Great product, Insanely BAAD Support
Review: This thing has been working great since May, when I connected it. The couple of times I called Linksys' support, I wanted to hang myself. So 5 Stars for the product, and NEGATIVE 10 Stars for support. It does exactly what I need it to do, as does the Wireless Access point that I have it connected to.

I have a 100% Linksys solution (all cards, routers, hubs, wireless, etc.) and it all works great. I just dread having to call their support number. So until something blows up, I love these products

Review: Can I use this product for a wireless broadband connection, what about by-directional-sattelite?

Summary: Great product
Review: I installed this 4-port router on to a cable modem and except when I tried to make something that was working perfectly work better, I've never had a problem.

As for tech support, I've never been more pleased! The longest wait I had was between 5 - 10 minutes, and every time I spoke to a tech, I was up and running within minutes.

I hardwired my entire house, pluged a PC (all running WIN98 or WIN 98SE) to every port, and they all worked flawlessly - the first time. To tell the truth, I'm sorry I didn't get the 8-port version. If you plan to add more than 4 PC's, consider one of ther 8-port jobbies, then you can add a server and a hub to create your own SOHO network for a fraction of what a pro would charge.

I high recommend this product.

Summary: Painless
Review: Hi! I used to use internet sharing from Windows 98SE for more than 3 computers at home. The connection doesn't work as stable after I switch to another DSL company. Then, I try to use WinProxy. It works slightly better. However, the line is "cut" from time to time. I have to restart my computer whenever it happens. I finally decided to move on ... stop spending time on these software. I decided to purchase a stand-alone hardware, Linksys 4-port DSL router. That was a painless experience. I got all computers up and running in less than 15 mins. Seting up the router software in web-based format is very easy. Key in the configuration like IP address as provided by your ISP. Then, configure all computers to "OBTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY, it will automatically address numbers to all network cards. Doesn't slow down the connection at all. No need to leave 1 computer on all the time while using (software internet sharing) The connection is very stable and less intruders attack there after. Highly recommended to those have some basic understanding on how TCP/IP works. Every steps are common sense without reading the manual. New babies may have problems since the manual is not well written. Tech support will take you forever to reach. Be aware!

Summary: Worst Customer Service EVER
Review: I purchased one of this company's products and I have NEVER encountered worse customer service. The 800 number rings and rings and when it finally answers you are on hold forever. When you finally get through to the tech support department, there is an operator who takes a message under the guise that someone will actually return the call. When someone finally called me back (after I repeatedly called them to check the status of the callback), the person could not have been in a bigger hurry to get me off the line. When I followed his instructions, my computer locked up and then he said he could'nt wait for me to fix my computer so he hung up. He actually hung up on me! I could'nt believe it. When I called this company to find out the name of the President, the person answering the phone was reluctant to provide it. When I asked for the President's e-mail address and address so that I could send a letter, this person refused to provide it and also hung up on me. If you are stupid enough to purchase this product after my experiences, all I can say is that you better know what the hell you are doing because Linksys certainly will not help you.
