Summary: Great device
Review: I bought this linksys device 2 years ago for my cable modem, and its still purring today. Simple to install, and a breaze to update the firmware. It will do 99% of what all home users will need it to do.

Summary: Cisco
Review: This router is junk. You can buy a cisco router on ebay for roughly 3 times as much and it will have 1000 times the functionality and reliability. Why would you buy anything lesser?

Summary: Not Mac Compatible
Review: I sne this one back as it is not Copatible with Mac OS. I called and they said they had no need to offer Mac compatibility. A refreshing candor but a loss of a sale.

Summary: Excellect Performance, Excellect Product
Review: I was given this router as a gift, personally, I had been looking at Netgear Routers, however, now having used this Linksys router for about 4 months, I am recommending them to everyone. For starters, (and this REALLY impressed me because I was planning on spending the AFTERNOON getting it working) I got this up and running within 5 minutes of taking it out of the box. There's hardly ANY configuration to do and once it's up, it's up. There are lots of Advanced settings that can be tweaked and in the instance where I needed to do some Port Forwarding to my internal PC's IP Address, it was easy to accomplish using the built in Web-Browser based Configuration Utility. Transferring files internally at 100Mbs is just awesome. I like the design with the "stackable" feature - I've already filled my 4 ports! Now I am considering getting the Wireless version of this same router and when I do, I'll simply link them both together via the Uplink ports and then stack the new one on top. I'm very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to connect multiple computers together to share files/internet access.

Summary: Fast, Easy Setup!
Review: I set this router up to share access between systems running Win XP and 98. Setup was a flash, and the router works great! I highly recommend this product.

Summary: Seconds Please
Review: I purchased my first Linksys router over a year ago and it has performed flawlessly during that period. I have Win98 computers connected to the system and a DSL connection to the internet. The step by step setup instructions were easy to follow and my network came on-line the very first time. It was not necessary for me to reconfigure the default settings other than changing the Password for Administrator access which is recommended by the company. Adding additional computers was easily accomplished by simply plugging in the cable and restarting the computer. Be aware that when you add a new computer it may be necessary to change your default Internet access settings to LAN (Local Area Network) to prevent the modem from attempting to connect. I am able to share files, access the internet, share my printer etc with no problems.

Occasionally, when my DSL provider disconnects me and re-connects with a new (dynamic) IP address, it is necessary to reset the unit in order to restore internet access. It would be better if the unit detected when a new IP address was generated and was able to reboot itself.

I have reached the capacity of four computers connected to the router so I intend to purchase another one to expand my home network. That way, everyone can have their own computer connected to there very own internet port.

Summary: Affordable Networking
Review: This is a good affordable router - nothing special but works very well and easy to use - It does have some more advanced features in a seperate area of the control browswer.

If you would like to start home networking this is a great starter product. It offers security and affordability.

I give it four starts because there are many routers on the marker of higher quality than this one. But for what this router is - it is great

Summary: Linksys is my preference for all networking needs!
Review: I have cable modem, and the cable companies monitor your usage by your MAC address built into your NIC (Network Interface Card). With this router, you can clone your MAC address into the router. Then, you can run a peer to peer network without the cable company throwing you a curve. Linksys has a good manual that comes with this, showing you how to configure your home network using only one IP to multiple computers. This is also a 4 port, saving you from buying a hub. Great price for a quality piece of equipment. How do you know what your MAC address is? The manual will tell you how to find out. Usually running winipcfg in the run command will tell you (Win 98, ME). Once set up, you'll never have a problem. I actually learned how to do this in computer school, but only Linksys has the cloning feature, from what I've heard.

Summary: absolutely happy with it.(except the cabling hassle)
Review: I am so happy I purchased this product for just one thing. My companys proprietary VPN works only with the linksys NAT/Router. My friends had purchased other brands and they could not get it working with remote access VPN connection with my office. I do not know the real reason though, something to do with IPSec pass through and local DHCP assigned ip address.
I am very happy with the configuration stuff, all port forawarding and DMZ and everything is very easy to configure.
It worked right away with the default configuration when connected to my cable modem and three computers. Had no trouble since the start.
The only problem I faced in setting up my home LAN was the cabling problem. It really took lot of time to find a better cabling method for my house!( I have some extra holes in my house to be closed before winter!)

Summary: TOO Easy to Install...
Review: The router is GREAT. I've never raved over a product but this was almost too easy to get up and running. I had some challenges using my Verizon email account because of packet size issues on Win 98. Once I upgraded my desktop to Win2K though all was well. The router appears to improve the performance of my DSL service. Set up was a breeze. On my WinXP laptop, I did not do anything; just plugged it in and it worked (thank you Microsoft). Am about to connect a Macintosh though so we'll so how it goes. But I'm convinced...
