Review: My experience with the BEFSR41 was very good. Installation and setup were straightforward. It's been operational over a year without any problems. I just installed it and forgot about it. The Linksys support page is great and provides all the information needed to keep this unit current. I would purchase this item again.

Summary: Terrible customer service
Review: I bought this router brand new at Compusa and within four weeks, it stopped working completely. It took four phone calls and six emails to Linksys to get a return authorization number and then another several weeks to get the router back.The new router has worked fine for over a year which is why I didn't give it just one star. Additionally, the manual had no information on setup on a Mac and they do not offer Macintosh tech support. If you own a Mac or value good customer service, I would not recommend this router.

Review: Further, I worked (until recently - darned techie field) for Nortel, and have used it's VPN client flawlessly with the router since I bought it in August of 2000, even via my wireless connection (linksys, of course), to get to the office, as well as other VPN clients at friends'offices. Also, another reviewer said that he'd reached the maximum of 4 computers on this box (4 ports), and that he was going to buy another. Just buy a hub/switch. I blew 2 ports on the router after a power hit, so I have my access point on one of the 2 remaining, and a 12 port switch on the other, to which I have connected 3 other PCs, with the obvious intent of expanding my network. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents.

Summary: What an Easy Network Deal
Review: I am a Netwok and Systems Administrator. Back when I was first starting to gather computers and Road Runner was just starting to emerge I though that I would have to buy more than one IP. I didn't know how easy it would be to set up my own network at home. Now with the LinkSys Router with a 4 port switch I can do anything that I want to. It is fast and easy. Want to transfer things from one computer to another, it is as fast as you can blink. Transfer your entire music or video collection in a matter of minuetes. I really love this product and would recommend it to anyone that needs more than one computer connected to the Internet.

Review: This is the best of the low priced router's on the market. Only comparable to similar d-link models. Quickly sets up with included CD Rom. Talks you through step by step. Perfect for the newbie setting up their first home or small biz network. Easily configurable for more technical users through a web browser interface. Comes with built in hardware firewall making up for lack of icluded software firewall. There is a link for a low priced 4 user license of Zonelab 3.0 and Pc Cillin 2000 anti virus software.

Summary: Incredibly easy to setup and use!
Review: I bought this router after reading the reviews here. All I had to do was open the box, pop in the CD, and 5 minutes later everything was configured. It could not have been easier.

Summary: VPN no problem. Works great.
Review: Responding to the earlier reviewer who said they had problems with VPN, perhaps their VPN software doesn't correspond to the IPSEC standard. I have no problem VPNing into work using both the Nortel and Symantec VPN clients, connecting to a Symantec VelociRaptor firewall on the other side -- works seamlessly every time. I've had nothing but positive experiences -- even with the advanced features -- during my past year of ownership. I plan on buying the wireless version eventually as well.

Review: Its a gread device, it work excellent, My daughter ir very happy because now she do not need to use my computer to conect to Internet, she use his computer. Now we have a net in home.

Summary: Easy to Use, even a dummy like me can do it
Review: After several failed attempts to set up a home network, the linksys Router and linksys network cards made the job easy. I successfully networked 3 machines, Win 95, Win 98 SE and Win XP to my cable modem through the router, and the Network is working great.

Summary: Very Satisfied Customer
Review: I've been very happy with the BEFSR41 for over two years. I bought it at a store in the early days when they were selling for nearly $200. I have a Windows 2000, Win NT, Win. 98SE and Win. 95 computers networked together, working flawlessly and all enjoying cable internet access. What more can you ask for?
