Summary: A very good router
Review: This is a very good router. It comes with a CD guide which makes the router very easy to configure. The only problem is there is an irritating soft whining sound that comes from it.

Summary: Works Now, But Tech Support Poor
Review: First of all, I have America Online (AOL) as an ISP and it is compatible with very few routers. Linksys is one that claims to support AOL. Could not get it to work initially. I went through four days of back and forth with AOL and Linksys and never could get Linksys on their tech support line--waited over 90 minutes one time. AOL said "not our our problem, dude!" both times I called them (those of you comtemplating AOL as your Internet provider, are you listening?) Linsys' web site has some good support documents, but nothing that helped me enough to get up and running. Finally established an email dialogue with Linksys and got it worked out, although they too initially took the "not our problem" approach. Works great now, but really not worth the hassle.

Summary: Works as advertised
Review: At the same time I bought the Linksys Cable Modem, I bought this router/switch to allow all the machines on my in-house network to access the Internet. It replaced my previous hub without a glitch, and smoothly connected to the cable modem. Everything works perfectly! An added feature I wasn't aware of, but which turned out to be helpful, was the ability to filter a particular MAC address to prevent access to the Internet. Quite handy, that.

Summary: Invaluable tool for anyone with high speed internet access.
Review: Anyone with a DSL line need to have this incredibly valuable and easy to use tool. With the threat of someone taking control of your computer for use in denial of service attacks and the swarms of nasty viruses, there is no reason to pay this small price for the security it will afford you. Because of the this router works, it acts as a hardware firewall, that is (as far as I know) impenetrable. Also, unlike software firewalls, this router will NOT eat up your system resources and slow you down. As far as anyone knows, your computer does not exist when you use this router.

Those are the great benefits above the fact that it allows you to share your internet connection with anyone in the house. Four ports are more than enough for many users, and for those looking to expand, you can uplink to additional hubs. No more software to open and close your DSL connection, the router takes care of that for you, and keeps your connection live 24/7.

Bottom line: very valuable security investment that makes having high speed internet VERY enjoyable and easy to share.

Summary: Dead after 12hours. Expect 2++hour tech support wait.
Review: All four ports went dead after 12hours of use. Router was not responsive, computer stated network cable disconnected, none of the port leds lit up, after an hour of cross checking and bypassing, determined without a doubt router ports died. Waited 2 hours on hold without a response from tech support. Product was new in factory sealed box and setup quickly, but died and Linksys was not there to make it right. Very disappointing.

Summary: Worked like a charm
Review: After trying to install several routers and having lousy instructions (I'm not all that computer savvy) and having no success, I had given up. But then a read a commentary that read that the Linksys BEFSR41 plus Zone alarm (free download)pretty well protects a home computer. I decided to order one and give it a try. I'm running Win XP Professional. And, oh my, the first attempt, everything worked like a charm.

Summary: Once Set-up, works like a charm!
Review: When you get through the technical side of setting this product up, you'll find that adding, and removing devices (usually PC's) to the network is a sinch.

I use this product to split off my Internet Access to 4 pc's in my house. I had some slight setup problems when i began, but calling techsupport and having them help me was a breeze.

Now i simply plug my modem Cable wire into the Wide Area Network (WAN) port, and my computers Cable wires into the "pc" slots, and the entire network is off and running.

Simply add some of the Network Adapters (software that allows devices to communicate between themselves) and you're off and venturing into some extra-ordinary territory!

You can play games online (without crashing: a hub-like symptom which is non-existen here) and you can do other things like share internet connection, share files, and share a printer among many users.

Good for Small business use ore home use.
The price of one month of Internet access will buy you unlimited connections in one house!

Although you can now buy the "wireless" version of the same product it can get costly. So watch out. It may be suffice to get this one for the price... (also remember that if you buy the wireless product that you will not only pay more for it, but you'll be required to buy more expensive network cards (wireless) ones that will interface with your Router.

The wireless one is generally (2) twice as expensive, as are the network cards.

Note: network cards are the devices you need to have in your computer that allows you to plug into the router. (it is the thing the cable wire plugs into in the back of your computer). Suffice to say, if you are using Cable now (for internet access) you'll be fine to buy and set this up.

Summary: easy to set up even with PPPOE
Review: My lousy ISP (rhymes with ...) has only PPPOE connection by DSL. I got a new PC and wanted to network the two. I thought I was going to have to drop one provider and switch to another - a logistical nightmare.

I didn't!

IT took me no time at all to set this thing up to work with PPPOE - in fact it works better than my PC alone because it is smart enought to reconnect when PPPOE locks up (all the time).

It's seemless, fast to set up, it works, and it's dirt cheap. What more could you possibly ask for!?

Summary: A step above the rest
Review: I bought a Belkin four port router early last year and have had nothing but problems with it. It continued to lose connection with the net and was a bit of a pain to set up. I jumped onto Amazon.com and found that almost 900 people have reviews this item and out of those 900 people, three fourths of them loved it. That told me something about this product so I went to ...and bought it. You know what? They were right. This thing was SO SIMPLE to set up it was funny. I have never yet lost connection and get near 1 mb download speed with it. It has been a dream come true for me. Not to mention it works with my Xbox live. If you are thinkg about getting a router for your cable/dsl connection, this is the one to go with. The only thing that is wrong with it is when you are standing near eye level with it it makes a high pitched noise that you can't hear as soon as you are below it or more than a foot from it. Other than that this thing is perfect.

Summary: Mine was defective
Review: Easy to set up and configure. The port forwarding UI was simple and flexible as well. One of the four ports was broken. Good thing we had a hub already.
