Summary: This thing stinks
Review: I've had this router for about a year and almost everyday the internet does not work in my room. To make it work you have to unplug it and plug it back in, and most of the time that doesn't even work. I would not recommend for anyone to buy this. It is not reliable and it is not worth a penny.

Summary: Great Product
Review: I ordered this product based on a recommendation from a person on XBOX forum. I was buying this entirely for hooking my broadband connection to XBOX. I had this thing out of the box and running within about 15 minutes. It was incredibly simple to set up, and the disc that is included makes this process beyond basic. I've had this product for over a month now and am very happy I got it. However, it does seem a love or hate it type of thing. On a slight negative side, it does produce a very slight high pitch electronic sound.

Summary: Great Savings, Awesome Product
Review: I recently purchased to product, about a month ago, and use it to network two computers together so they can share my Cable modem connection. It's great, espeacially for the price. I've had no problems. I have an RCA Cable modem plugged into that, then lines running out to two different computers. Have run so far on Win 98, Win2k Pro, and Win XP Pro, NO PROB!!! I reccomend this product :).

Summary: The little router that could
Review: This thing is fantastic. It only took me about 30 minutes to network the whole house, and most of that was time I was cutting and crimping Cat5. The router itself took about 5 minutes total to set up. It works like a champ, and I got my mixed network of Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows XP up and running in no time. A linux box is next, and I don't forsee any troubles there either. Then comes the PS2!!

My only warning, for those of you who (like me) will think you can just go set it up without using the instructions...you do have to configure the router via an exposed web interface. The instruction sheet is very small and gets right to the point, so look at it if only to get the IP address of the router!

... Linksys is the king of home networks.

Summary: Easy as you hope it will be
Review: I hate installing new hardware and software because things so often go wrong. So I spent a long time researching home networking products when my wife and I decided to take the plunge for DSL Internet access and the LinkSys products kept coming up on top.
Installation was a breeze. I popped in an Ethernet 10/100 Network Interface Cards on our two computers, and installed the software for them on both systems. I hooked up the Ethernet cables between the two computers, the DSL modem, and the router. Launched Netscape. Connected to the router immediately. Configured it for my DSL Internet service and our little network. Set Windows to do home networking on both computers, and that was that. Its worked like a charm since day one through several power outages, DSL service lapses, and the general abuse things get just by being in my home office. LinkSys even paid off on the rebates in a timely fashion.

Summary: My dog could have set it up
Review: I know very little about routers, but found this one to be extremely easy to set up. I can't attest to its durability, but it is working without a hitch.
I have an iMac and a Gateway attached to it and a cable modem. I have noticed no slowdowns in speed and all is working well.
For someone who has never hooked up a router, it took me 15 minutes from the time I unwrapped the package until I had both computers up and running via the cable modem on the Net.
Good luck out there

Summary: I will never buy another Linksys product!!
Review: Things started well. Easy to set up. Good firewall. Good DHCP server. Directions minimal, but adequate. I liked it so much I told my father & a friend to buy one.

Then things went south. Mine died... ethernet port quit working. Then my father's quit... same problem. Then the replacement Linksys sent me quit....

Grand total: Of four total Linksys routers, only one (the one purchased by my friend) was still working 18 months after purchase....

Summary: Expect Some Technical Difficulties
Review: When I first bought the Linksys BEFSR41, it failed to work out of the box. After a day of pulling out my hair, I exchanged it for one that worked fine.

That unit lasted me for two years, but it finally died on me recently. One day, after power-cycling the router, it locked up, and its red diagnostic LED turned on and remained permanently lit.

I considered replacing it with another Linksys, but after doing some research, I realized that nowadays there are many other DSL routers out there that have more features, better web user interfaces and, most important, better track records with respect to reliability. What's more, although Linksys has updated this product's firmware regularly, on more than one occasion, a firmware upgrade would break my Linksys and require me to install a previous version whose installer I happened to have saved on my desktop. Given this bumpy history, I decided to explore other options.

I ended up getting a Netgear MR814, which not only has wireless capability but also boasts built-in dynamic DNS support, faster performance with VPN connections and a three-year warranty (versus the Linksys's 1-year) -- along with other features lacking in the Linksys. All this for a product that I purchased for only ten dollars more (after a rebate) than what it would've cost to replace my Linksys.

Summary: Excellent Product and cheap too.
Review: I bought the Linksys BESFR41 Cable/DSL Router and I love it. The setup was almost too easy and it works flawlessly. I now have my two computers at home sharing my one Cable Modem line.I use RedHat linux on both computers and I had absolutely no trouble at all getting the Linksys up and running in less than 15 minutes. Buy this product and you'll love it.
