Rating: Summary: Okay, but needs improvement Review: Compatibility: For USB connection: like many third party print server, this server does not support many LexMark color inkjet printers (information from LexMark and Hawking technical support). From my own experience, it doesn't work with LexMark Z705. For laser printer (USB), it works with Samsung ML-1710 laser printer nicely.Performance: The server must be **reboot** if I turn off the connected printer (Samsung laser). That's annoying for me. Usually I keep my laser printer power off, since I mainly use inkjet. Everytime I turn on the laser printer and want to print, I need to login to the print server and reboot, it takes about a minute in my Win2000 P4 system. Hawking technician told me it's normal of this server. I know other print server will not do this. So I only give it 2 stars.
Rating: Summary: It works fine for me Review: Fantastic. Finally my girlfriend can print without having to turn on my main PC. We both have bought laptops and now we can print from anywhere. We have a home network. 2 desktop Pcs and two laptops connected to the DSL internet via a NetGear wgt624 wireless router. The router has the two laptops connected through the wireless connection and the pcs via cable connection. The router is plugged into the wireless router. It took a little set up but nothing fancy, just went through the manual 20 odd page manual (very small pages have no fear). It all works fine now printing from any of the computers to either of the two printers. No other PC has to be on for it to work. I have a old HP Laserjet 6L connected in the parralel and and old Epson Photo stylus 750 in the USB. The laser powers itself down all the time but this never seems to cause problems for the print server. I recomend it. I can't see any reason not to for the money it does exactly what I need it to.
Rating: Summary: not durable Review: For me configuration was a snap and it worked the first time, both with XP and Linux (Xandros). It only lasted about 24 hrs and it was dead never to be revived.
Rating: Summary: Flaky Review: I was first worried when I installed the unit and it required my to install and run some server management software on my local computer. To me, the whole point of a network print server is to get something that is standalone and autonomous. The product often hangs and requires a reboot (unplug and plug.) When it does choose to work it is much slower than my last print server. I am thinking about ditching this product and buying the Linksys EPSX3 which I wanted in the first place, except its much more expensive.
