Rating: Summary: Outstanding! Review: I had this thing up and running as advertised in less than 5 minutes. This kvm is by far the best deal out there; other products either require power and/or additional kvm cables.... This product will allow you to keep your old computer as a workhorse rather than turning it out to pasture (or the glue factory!).
Rating: Summary: Video problems Review: I have a Windows XP and Linux box connected by this KVM. The linux display is now slightly fuzzy and flickers, making it very annoying to use the system. On the other hand, setup is easy and the Windows box works quite well with the switch. I will be returning this product.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: I highly recommend this KVM switch if you need to connect two computers to one monitor/keyboard and mouse. It is extremely easy to hook up: All you need to do is connect your monitor/mouse/keyboard cables to the switch, and then connect the cables to each computer and that's it! The video quality has been great-I have not noticed any decrease in resolution or performance, and my scroll wheel mouse works just the same as it always has. It uses the scroll lock key to switch between the two computers which is very nice. I have used some KVM switches that use the control key to select between the two computers, which in some cases can interfere with the function of the key in some applications. I will give one word of caution however: Treat the cables like GOLD! This particular KVM has the connecting keyboard/monitor/mouse cables permanently attached to the unit: If any of the pins on the connecting cables to the PCs for the keyboard, mouse or monitor are bent and you can't connect them, you're out of luck. You cannot detach and buy replacement cables like on some KVMs. I highly recommend this switch as you can't beat the quality for the price.
Rating: Summary: Iogear KVM 2 computer Mini-micro switch Review: I just got a new computer for Christmas and needed a KVM switch to use my keyboard, monitor and mouse on both my old and new computers. I was looking at other KVM switches, but saw this one at Fry's and bought it for $.... It is a great product. Worked fine first time, every time. No s/w to install. Controlled only by a keyboard hot key. No moving parts to break or wear out. And when you consider that it has 2 sets of 6 ft. cables built into the switch it is much cheaper than the competitors switches (have you seen what they charge for 2 sets of 6 ft. KVM cables these days!). Takes up almost no space and can be positioned under the desk if you wish. Great simple design, reliable, and inexpensive, considering 2 sets of cables are built in. Highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Nifty and cheap, but expect flickering Review: I just installed my IOGear MiniView Micro KVM, but I noticed that one of my PCs has some annoying flickering. I've tried different refresh rates, but the flicker is still there. It's an annoying, horizontal flicker, noticable along the edges of my windows. At the lowest resolutions (640x480, 800x600), the flicker goes away, but that's not acceptable for me, as I need to work in at least 1280x1024. But the strange thing is that my other machine, which is also set at the same resolution and frequency, does not have this problem! I believe the flickering could be some incompatibility between the cheap, on-board video that my Dell Optiplex has and the Micro KVM switch. The other machine that has no flicker has its own ATI video card. Another problem I noticed is that the scroll lock occasionally stops working, and unfortunately, there is no way to switch between the PCs manually.
Rating: Summary: I don't know what to say Review: I ordered this product 3 weeks ago and I still have to wait another 3 weeks before I can try this product. They delayed my order twice. They don't usually ships within 24 hours like they say.
Rating: Summary: Does not support 1600x1200 Review: I specifically bought this because the linksys switch I had been using did not support 1600x1200 without flickers. The marketing material for this switch says it supports higher than 1600x1200, so I was expecting no problems. Yet, the flickers are still there. I am going to return this and look for a better KVM.
Rating: Summary: Works great when all cords are connected Review: I tried using this switch as just a monitor switch, since one of the computers I had it hooked to had no PS/2 ports. Of course, the toggle is the Scroll Lock key on the controlling keyboard, so that didn't work so well. After I bought a USB to PS/2 converter, I could hook everything up and it works great. Just bought another one.
Rating: Summary: Why pay as much just for cables? Review: I used to have a Cybex SwitchView 2-port for my systems. But like all, upgrades are expected, especially in monitors and videocards. I formerly used a 17" monitor with 1024x768 resolution at 60Hz. Worked fine on the Cybex, which boasts "up to 1600x1200 @ 75Hz". But when I got a 19" monitor and an ATI 7500 Radeon, I noticed some very distracting ghost lines on the screen. And even though the card was pumping out 85Hz, it was only registering as 60Hz on the monitor. I hit the newsgroups and they recommended a high-res Super-VGA cable. But the cost? At least $20 EACH! I ended up getting this Iogear micro KVM for the same price as 2 cables, and I am truly impressed. No ghosting, no lines, frequency matches what the card reports, and such THIN VGA cables! I really recommend this KVM. Currently running 1152x864 at 85Hz on one box, and 1024x768 @ 60Hz on another with Linux, and crystal clear like I jacked in the VGA cable directly to the card! Excellent product!
Rating: Summary: Good for the price, but ..... Review: I was hesitant to get a cheap KVM switch since there were reviews with video problems. Unfortunately, I encountered a video problem myself. I use WinXP on both of my systems. I had to switch the KVM stuff manually so it was not fun. However, things were working fine before I installed the KVM. I noticed that the first PC that is power up with the KVM switch would be fine. The second one to power up will have problems with the video. The display will show that a generic monitor is used instead of my NEC monitor. So I had to reinstall my ATI drivers. Ok.. so everything went fine for a while, then I decided to turn on my "secondary" PC first. The display for both PC went nuts. I had to turn off both PCs and turn on my "primary" PC first. So now I have to turn them on in the same sequence or I would get some weirdness with the graphics. This is not a good solution to me at all, but it's a workaround. I also noted that the mouse had to relearn the configuration since Windows detected a "new" mouse. Well, I guess you get what you paid for....
