Summary: Great product with a flaw
Review: A very nice product that works great.... no video problems at all and the key switch works as advertised and much better than having to throw a switch on a box. It is nicely designed. HOWEVER, after using the item and then removing it and going back to a direct plug in of mouse and keyboard on my new Compaq Presario, the computer would not boot up unless I had the cables attached. I could not even get into safe mode with winXP. I had to go to a USB keyboard in order to get back into windows and work as before. This must be a flaw that no one else has reported since all others seem to continue using the IOGEAR GCS62 on two computers. Beware if you want it for only a temporary period.

Summary: This KVM Rocks!
Review: After having a really horrible experience with a Linksys 4-port KVM, I decided to give this a try. Very smart move on my part. I have a desktop and a docking sttation for my laptop hooked up. It works great, even when I am constantly docking/undocking the laptop. Don't waste your money on anything else if you only need 2 machines hooked up.

I hope they come out with one that supports a USB mouse/keyboard as well as PS/2 soon.

Summary: ok for everyday use
Review: After hooking up 2 computers (1 running Windows 2000 Pro other running Windows NT legacy), I found streaking (thin white streaks) across the screen using one (1st) computer but ok on the second computer - maybe this is what many people refer to as "video problems". Streaking was VERY minimal but annoying.

My monitor can support refresh rates as high as 85 Hz. I reduced the refresh rate first to 75 Hz and then to 72 Hz. At 72 Hz the streaking went away, and at 75 Hz I saw reduced streaking. Question is whether there is noticeable difference between 72 Hz and 85 Hz - answer probably is no, but that is a judgement call. Most monitors anyway support 60-75 Hz, but what about folks with 'superior' monitors. BTW my second computer is still set at 85 Hz and no streaking on that one even at 85 Hz (Mystery !!). Open questions are: 1. whether this "issue" is graphics card dependent - since I have two different graphics cards on my 2 computers 2. is it the monitor connector related 3. Will one computer do better than the other (i.e. unequal performance).

Otherwise the product is sleek and good looking. Hotkeys work great- very convenient. Monitor connectors for the 2 computers could be improved. Manual is very basic. If you are looking for a low cost option for regular use, I would recommend this product. However I have not used any higher end KVMs and would not know how they compare in 'streaks' or otherwise

Summary: Simplistic, very functional, and attractive
Review: Amazing that something so simple as this actually WORKS. And there's no software to install at all, which is a relief. I didn't want to have to rely on yet ANOTHER background process running in my system tray(s) - I have enough of those to keep track of as it is.
This is COOL! BUY it!

Summary: Great Product
Review: Connects in seconds. I purchased this KVM so I don't have to keep unhooking my main pc to test other units people have me work on. It also works great with my USB microsoft explorer optical mouse. I had to use the USB to PS/2 adapter that came with the mouse. All the buttons work and the scroll wheel functions perfectly. Works exactly like I wanted it to. Highly recommended!!

Summary: not good enough
Review: fair price, easy to install.. but the video shows worse than before the kvm switch installed. my officemate got belkin 4 port kvm, and its video quality was a lot better (the same as original vidoe without the kvm) than this iogear one. well, i guess you get what you pay for.

Summary: Great for the price and easy to hook up
Review: For a while I've been doing the two-monitor shuffle - my main screen and keyboard on my desk, connected to my most-often-used machine, with my secondary screen sitting on top of whatever PC I happened to be fiddling with (maybe it's a machine for my wife's business that needs work, could be another machine I'm building, or the Linux PC I just installed). But I was getting tired of that, especially after I knocked over my secondary 15" LCD during the '03 blackout and gave it some permanent damage (luckily it still works, but there's now a smear on the screen). So when I saw this item listed for [this price]I figured I couldn't lose. In the past, two-port KVMs have sold for [a lot more]. For the cost of the GCS62, you could just about purchase one cable for the more expensive KVMs.

This one is definitely no-frills, but it really does all you need - switches your keyboard, monitor and mouse. Hookup is trivial and there is no configuration. Of course, at this price there is no on-screen display, you only have two LEDs on the unit. My only complaint with my unit (and I don't know if it's a defect or a design flaw) is that the plug from my Kensington expert mouse was somewhat loose in the socket of the KVM. But I can live with that as it's just sitting in back of my machine anyway. It can handle any reasonable resolution you'd run on screen sizes up to about 21" (1920x1440 is the max, I can't imagine using more than that until screens start to get larger). The only other feature that I'd really like is audio switching; if I want to have more than one machine with audio connected, I need to use a separate input on my amp. But that's not a big deal. Definitely recommended!

Summary: Don't pay more for a KVM!
Review: Got it. Installed it. 1 minute later - it works! This is a great KVM for a great price. Strongly recommended

Summary: Flawless (when applicable ;)
Review: I bought this switch over a year ago after significant research.
My main criteria were video quality and the mouse response rate.
So far the unit performed flawlessly on both counts. Right now I have ATI Radeon 9600 on one computer, nVidia TNT2 on the second. Resolutions ranging from 800*600@140 up to 1280*1024@85 - no problem whatsoever. At various times I had also Radeon 9200, 9500, 9700, nVidia MX440 and relict ATI that came with Dell. I never had any problems with video quality. There were some DDC (monitor Plug and Play) problems with some ATI drivers, which disappeared after an update.
There are two minor problems: one is that while booting a PC keyboard is not available for approx. 2-3 seconds, so it's impossible to switch at that time. Another one is that there is a key combination for a mode when the unit constantly switches between computers and does not allow any mouse/kbd input. If you happent to hit this combination in a game - you'll get fragged.

Summary: Great product - one flaw
Review: I found this product to be very good, and I have used one for almost a year. Very easy to set up and use; cables are nice and long - they provide a needed "extension cord" for my setup, no extra charge! ;-) I did find that the product has trouble with the IBM Thinkpad laptop mouse port, in that I cannot share the mouse between both computers attached to the unit. This was a documented known limitation, however, so I can't find too much fault with it. Would have been nice to know before purchase, though.
Overall, love it, and love the keyboard shortcut for switching computers! A great buy.
