Rating: Summary: Good for experts Review: I own one of these that I got brand new one year ago, when this technology was not very extended yet. Of course, don't expect to get as much distance as you can read in the manual. That's simply incorrect. What's more, don't expect that with ANY other access point/wireless router from any other vendor. 802.11b won't work at home if there are too many walls between the two points. For indoor use, the only unit I've seen getting slightly more than the others was the classic Apple Airport. However, line of sight is needed most of the time. To give you some reference, in a common building you should get link enough to have 100% of your cable or DSL Internet connection at a max. of 75-100 ft. If you move from one floor to another, this distance will drop considerably. Reason why I said it was good for experts is that I "modded" mine and put a high-gain antenna on it (it's ideal for this purpose because of its simple design). So, this same unit which technically it is just a simple bridge-router eth-to-802.11b, can be converted to a router access point. Mine currently connects two networks a mile and a half away (with a 14dBi Lucent Yagi antenna), with full 11Mbps. With no modification, it will cover aprox. 600 ft. in outdoors.
