Description:

The D-Link Wireless Laptop Kit includes one wireless access point (DWL-1000AP) and two 11 Mbps wireless PC Cards (DWL-650). The DWL-1000AP is an IEEE 8.02.11b-compliant, 11 Mbps wireless Ethernet access point designed for use in home and office environments.

Supporting 40-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption, MAC address control, and user authentication, the DWL-1000AP ensures a secure network connection. When connected to an Ethernet LAN, the DWL-1000AP automatically identifies the IP of the host PC as well as the subnet, or you can assign the IP manually. You can also set the bandwidth data transmission rate to automatically use the dynamic auto-sensing configuration or to a manual rate of 11 Mbps, 5.5 Mbps, 2 Mbps, or 1 Mbps.

The DWL-650 is an IEEE 8.02.11b-compliant, high-speed, 11 Mbps Wireless LAN card that plugs into your notebook computer's PCMCIA slot and lets you send and receive information wirelessly from anywhere in your LAN. Once connected with other networked computers, this card enables you to share printers, a modem for Internet access, and hard disk, DVD, CD-ROM, and Zip drives.

Both the DWL-1000AP and DWL-650 operate in a 2.4 GHz direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS), which provides transparent bridging and roaming capabilities to wireless nodes at ranges of up to 100 meters indoors and 300 meters outdoors. Like the DWL-1000AP, the DWL-650 bandwidth data transmission rate can be set manually at 11, 5.5, 2, or 1 Mbps, or it can be set on a dynamic auto-sensing configuration.

D-Link provides a lifetime warranty for both cards.
