Summary: static IP #s not required!!!
Review: Very easy setup. Has a great set of features which will allow a home office using cable modems to setup their own webserver WITHOUT the need of a static IP number, since the router will automatically update the DNS entry for the site with Dynamic DNS org servers when ever the assigned IP number changes. Has a fair set of tools which will aid in preventing those nasty little hackers from invaiding your home network.As for wireless range, it works as specd and more. I'm using it together with 3COM's XJACK PCMCIA adapter (3CRWE62092B), another great little winner. I've testing it by roaming all over my house , garage and outdoors. It still reported 11Mbps even at the corner of my large lot, and that's with the router located in the basement of the house.

Summary: Easy, Cost Effective and Will Save The Marriage
Review: We have a simple wireless network at home with cable modem internet access, this router and access point, and we use two of the associated NICs (Siemens SpeedStream Wireless PCMCIA Card (SS1021)) for my wife's and my work laptops. I also have a wireless network in the office (using 802.11a technology), so when I get home I pop out the office NIC and pop in this NIC and it works great. With this setup, my wife and I can both sit in the living room and access the internet without wires, etc. It is great and now we don't have to "share" the internet connection. ;-) Actually, it is good because we both work from home a lot and this allows us to stay on top of e-mails and access resources on the net. I recommend this network for its ease of installation and operation. Truely plug and play.

Summary: Died after 8 month
Review: When it was working needed the reboot few times. One day it just died with status LED red. Opened it up. Capacitor in the power supply died. As a result it killed the circuitry too (besides the power supply). Fixed the power supply. The router is still dead. Could not find a receipt. Figures shipping cost will be about the cost of the new router. Bought another one. This time D-link. So far so good.

Summary: poor product, poor service
Review: Worked well for a short time, then nothing. Tech support was absolutely no help...repeating what was in the manual and no more. Contacted management to no avail. Finally gave up and bought the microsoft product. I am having no problems with it. Save your money and your time...buy something else.

Summary: Piece of junk!!!!
Review: [I am a grad student at CMU in Information Systems] I am disgusted with this router. Let me help you understand: a) This is not a Siemens router! Siemens bought a small firm that made routers and slapped the Siemens brand name on it. The product design is worthless. Consequently, the Siemens brand name for which I paid extra $$$ is worthless. b) The WEP set up is broken. Have fun setting up WEP on this one. Let me know if you succeed. c) The access restriction is non-existent. Most routers have MAC address filtering, this one has _Windows_ host name filtering :-O !! My friend on his iBook can get on the network without registering. Hmm...you think that's bad? Wait, my Windows laptop can get on the network even though it isn't registered as well. Net result - vaporware. My network is wide open and vulnerable! Gah! d) The print server is awful. I also feel the feature is responsible for the router to lock up. Everytime the router fails, I see the print error light lit up. e) I use my wireless laptop on the Carnegie Mellon network all day with no problems. This router will drop connections every time I
i) Use it for more than 2 minutes
ii) Transfer at speeds greater than 200 K
iii) Disconnect my laptop from mains power This is weird. I use the same laptop (IBM T23) on the campus network with no problems. f) Ok, so the wireless blows, the wired should be ok? NO!!
This is the first time I've seen a wired router lock up. I stay away from the wireless connection, turn off my wireless card, and only use wired. And guess what? The wired connection locks up every 3-4 hours. Overall, this is a useless piece of hardware. I'd like to get my hands on the phony engineer who got to design this. grr.....
