Summary: 3 strikes - NWR04B is OUT!
Review: After replacing 2 of these under warranty, the 3rd unit needs to be unplugged and reset every few hours. Not reliable hardware.

Summary: Tin cans and string...
Review: Got this unit with a matching PCMCIA card. Out of the box it set up easily enough...untill you actually try to use it. Much like the other reviewers I have had untold problems with stability while connected to a high speed cable modem. Both wired and wireless cannections drop out regularly. At times it will remain functional for days, and at others it will crash and require resetting every few minutes. I can't find any external sources for the problems and have it connected to a UPS to prevent power from being an issue. Don't try to save the few dollars, get a real Linksys WiFi router. This one has, it seems, inherant problems and has not had a firmware update since June 2002. I am sure a better supported firmware would fix this product...but why bother untill then?

Summary: Positively Disappointed
Review: I bought this Wireless router from Radio Shack for $$. I brought it home about a month ago, and I have been having CONSTANT problems. I have to continuously reset the router, which is highly inconvienient, considering I must place it SO high up in the air for my wireless network card to even detect it. Getting ON the internet is a whole nother dilema. It takes me about an hour everytime I want to connect to the internet on my wireless computer, because it supposedly detects it, but I have no signal. On my wired computer, the internet is slower than my grandma, and sometimes, I dont even GET the internet and must continuously reset it. I am extremely disappointed, because my parents had bought this horrible piece of junk, and not given me the reciept. So, now I must settle for 60% of what I paid for it. EXTREMELY disappointed. Do not buy this, if you don't plan on wasting your precious time and money, even getting it to work.

Summary: worthless paperweight.
Review: i have spent probably 3-4 hours with customer support who are useless. i am finally getting an rma to send it back, but from what i have read elsewhere, i shouldn't get my hopes up too much - it probably won't work either.
this is one of the cheapest routers out there - you get what you pay for - a lousy product and miserable customer support to match!

Review: I retract my previous review of this product or at the very least correct it. I've used this product now for several days and it's worked flawlessly. Setting up a network isn't the easiest of tasks so you should know that you need patience. There is the off chance as in my case that my ISP wasn't working so well the week I decided to up and run a network at home. Hope you have better luck but the product seems sound at least so far. For the price - it's worth it. Any problems getting it going can be blamed on not knowing exactly what you are doing. This product could use some free tech support and instructions for upgrading the firmware but hey - again for the price - I'll let that go. You should know also that the cables you use can be flaky if you use cables and make sure all computers are on when running a wizard. A bad cable connection can make everything impossible to figure out.

Summary: Seemed like a great deal - until the hardware failed
Review: I was excited to get this product, especially with the rebate. It installed easily, and worked, for about 12 hours. I called tech support and we determined my router was dead. The router could not be accessed using the web interface. It was very hard to get an RMA because these are new, and they are not set up for returns. It took more than 6 phone calls.

My replacementunit worked well, (the hardwired links only, the wireless had issues, even with a wireless cardbus card by the same manufacturer)

The new router died the same way the next morning. It was on a surge supressor, and everything was OK using an older non-wireless router. (I also have a NR041B)

I wish I could return the router and the wireless card, but because I sent in the UPC for the rebates, I'm stuck, and will have to buy products from another company.

Summary: Hair loss inducer!
Review: I've almost had the product now for about 28 days and I have to say that I've never been more frustrated in my life than after setting this one up. Yes out of the box and the first day - your network will hum and you'll be so glad you bought this product but then the future comes and like others who have written reviews - you'll wonder - where did my network go? Is my ISP down? Did I accidentally change a setting? How come I can't see my other computers - where's the net? From what I've read online - there sure seems to be some stability issues with this one. I'm about to try to upgrade the firmware which I think is a must but I don't hold out much hope. I think I'm wearing out the reset button and the power connector on both the router and my modem, not to mention the myriad of reboots I've done on my computers. Companies with bad products should just cut their losses early and either not put out the product if it's flaky or simply get on it and really support the thing on their website and if it's an update on the firmware it needs - make that known FRONT AND CENTER on the hompage of the product or just stop selling it. Address the issues dead on and let the customer know that there are issues that are being addressed and if still not happy, they can exchange the product towards a better one. Bait and switch? Ideal world? Maybe, but at least I don't feel like I'm being laughed at by a big company for believing in their product. I can see that this product will be going back to the store unless a miracle happens in the next 24 hours.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: Like others, I bought this router because it's cheap. I've had it for several months.

Unlike others, I have met mostly with success using this router. It's been routing http, ftp, rdp, and other traffic into my home network. Outbound connections just plain work. I found the router easy to set up and wireless connections started right up. WEP works. Inbound port forwarding works. For the most part I'm happy with this router.

But every few weeks, this router will simply stop routing traffic between my internal and external networks and I don't know why. It may be that it doesn't renew its DHCP lease properly; I don't know. I called technical support and was just flabbergasted by the incompetence there.

Currently I must reboot my router every few weeks. It's very frustrating. I would recommend against this product overall. Spend a few more dollars and get something reliable.
