Summary: Very Satisfied
Review: Installation took less than a minute(XP). As soon as it started, it picked up a signal even though I didn't have my router up yet - only one bar, but it was strong enough for me to surf the net at a very decent speed - I was eating somebody else's lunch :-).

Summary: Make sure you install the right driver
Review: Make sure that you installed the right driver. updated driver is available on the website of the manufacture.

On the other hand, Windows XP has a built-in software module to control wireless device. You can choose either of them, Windows built-in software or configuration Utility provided by manufacture, but make sure which one is actived. I just want to tell you that you don't need to feel frustrated if you can't set up your device. You may block the utility that you are trying to use.

This is the most sensitive device comparing to other brands.

Summary: Great product
Review: My router is Linksys BEFW11S4. After trying Netgear wirelss USB adapter and Microsoft wireless PC card, I bought this Siemens USB adaper. It begins to work smoothly on my Windows XP laptop right out of the box. The range is also good.

Summary: Won't work with Windows 98SE
Review: The requirements say that it will work with Windows 98SE. I tried two different computers with windows 98SE and it didn't work with either one. I spoke with the tech support and they didn't know anything about it not working with 98. They were no help. I tried it on ME and 2000Pro and it worked perfectly. Very easy to install on anything other than 98. As long as it is not on 98, it works great and I am really happy with it. The range has been great, at about 30 feet through 4 walls I get full power. Comes with a long usb to be able to place it where ever is best. Worth the money.

Summary: Gentlemen(?), TEST YOUR CABLES!
Review: The SS1022 may be an acceptable product, but a customer might never know it if his (like mine) was packed with a new yet intermittently faulty USB cable. If you own one of these adapters and are seeing dropped connections, unknown device, no device, or USB zero power out, then you might save yourself some bother and a tedious but fruitless search of SpeedStream's laughably user-hostile "knowledge base" by merely substituting a good cable for the factory-supplied one.
However, your good substitute cable may have the shielding ferrite bead fixed near the computer end, possibly accounting for part of the adapter's now-consistent but low performance. If you would like a replacement factory-designed cable, with the ferrite bead attached near the ADAPTER end, then be prepared to wait for more than half an hour on hold for SpeedStream Customer "Support" to inform you that you must ship the whole adapter kit back to SpeedStream at your expense for a replacement of the defective cable under warranty. I wasn't willing to suffer this chain of idiotically wasteful policies, and returned the kit to the vendor for a refund, thankful to have found out before buying any other equipment that SpeedStream (evidently a Siemens subsidiary) deals with its customers in such a shabby manner.

Summary: Fails when other wireless adapter work.
Review: This adapter worked Ok for me under Win98. PC running 98 would stay connected while two XP PC's (Home and Pro) would frequently drop connections with SS1022. Friends brought over an iMac with a Airporte wireless adapter - it never dropped. Toshiba and Dell laptops with integrated wireless never drop. Email to support@speedstream.com (listed in their documentation) bounces. I've purchased two 50ft patch cables until I evaluate a replacement router.

Review: This is a very nice product. Installed very quickly without any problems and ,also, signal strength is excellent. This was used along with Siemens wireless router.

Summary: Good reception, great flexibility.
Review: We purchased the SS1022 USB Adapter for the PC in our guest bedroom after failing to get a Linksys internal wireless card that would keep a signal. Despite the computer being just 1 wall (and less than 15 feet) away from our network's Wireless Access Point (WAP), the internal wireless card failed to perform. We were attracted to the SS1022 adapter because it's external and could thus be repositioned easily for better reception, unlike the internal card's tiny external antenna extending from the CPU (on the floor, beneath a wood desk).

Installation of the SS1022 went without problems, and we now have a fully Internet-ready guest room PC for visitors to check their email or play multiplayer games with us, all wirelessly!

No more wires!
