Summary: I'm Impressed!
Review: My DI-614+ and a DWL-650+ for my laptop arrived Friday night. I did not attempt the installation until Saturday morning. I figured that this was going to be an all day install. I was pleasantly surprised when my PC, running WIndows XP, found the DI-614+ imediately and obtained an IP. Next I just spoofed my MAC address onto the router, then entered my host name. This got the DI-614+ connected to my cable modem. The next step was connecting my laptop wirelessly, which was the point of the whole "experiment". After the driver installation all I had to do was use the Site Survey program that comes with the card. I was able to detect the DI-614+ and was connected in a matter of minutes literally.So, rather than spend all day setting up and configuring the network, I spent all day sitting on the couch watching football and surfing the web. Good show D-Link. I am truly impressed.

Summary: Could not be better!
Review: On two XP machines it was working before I knew it. My wireless 650 was great too. Relieved after reading all of the confusing reviews about so many products.

Summary: D-Link DI-614+ ...Returning to Store
Review: Out of the box, the wired connections worked fine...initially. Wireless worked ok downstream, but terrible upstream. Attempted to install firmware upgrade, but did not take...incompatible version message. Now, no connectivity either wired or wireless...admin browser not even available. Performed ipconfig /release then /renew...still no connection. This is more trouble than it is worth. I'm returning this to the store tomorrow...last D-link product I'll ever purchase!

Summary: Airplus AWESOME!
Review: My setup includes a desktop with printer connection and a laptop I configured to be wireless. If you need the router to be your printer server, you should consider the DI-713P. With that said, straight out of the box, the Airplus has worked seamlessly and is a breeze to install! PROS:
I purchased the D-link DI-614+ broadband router and the DI-650+ together. While most manufacturers claim a 11Mbps throughput, the Airplus combination claims a 22Mbps throughput. In fact, if you do a little research you'll find that the 11Mbps systems rarely seem to transfer above 4.2-4.8 Mbps. The Airplus on the other hand transfers at roughly 150% that rate or 6-7Mbps in personal tests. The range has been great; allowing me to travel upstairs and through 2-3 rooms. Also, traveling in my backyard has not produced any noticeable dropoff. The setup was VERY easy. I'm sure each reviewer will have a different opinion. But, the D-Link wizard walks you through EVERY step. It cloned the MAC address of my computer that was currently connected to my cable connection and I was done in a matter of minutes. The card was also VERY VERY easy to configure. It found the router instantly. CONS:
Tough to find any. I got this up and running straight out of the box. I recommend this for anyone looking to upgrade their systems for increased security or those simply looking to get into wireless for the first time.

Summary: Not one problem.
Review: I am stumped by these reviews. The DI-614+ that I bought is fantastic. Flat out. The router was simple to setup to my Road Runner account. I plugged the unit in and was connected and surfing within 5 minutes. I have yet to see a dropped connection. The wireless is much faster than any Linksys, Netgear or SMC wireless out there. I would assume that the SMC TI based wireless devices will be fast too when they release their TI based stuff. I use the DI-614+ in conjunction with a hard wired desktop PC and a Dell laptop using the DWL-650+. I can really see the difference in the throughput performance over the Intersil based solutions. I am wondering if some of you live in lead vaults with a microwave next to your wireless AP. There is a great story on 802.11 Planet on how to overcome attenuation associated with wireless networks. This is a great product especially considering the price. I would suggest the new enhanced wireless products from D-Link to anyone.

Summary: Good Features, Bad Fundamentals
Review: Although this router had a lot of nice configuration features, I was disappointed to find that it fails miserably when it comes to performing some of the more basic (essential) router tasks. The DI-614+ requires a reset every couple of days because it flakes out and drop routing functionality through the WAN for all of my computers inside my local network with statically assigned IPs (you must assign static IPs to your machines if you want to use some of the more advanced features of the router) This is a HORRIBLE flaw that makes the router useless for any serious use. Another big problem is that it has a *VERY* weak routing implementation - if you keep TCP/IP connections open for more than 2 minutes without constant activity, kiss your connection goodbye. (i.e. don't expect to be able to use telnet, ssh, or ftp programs without your connection being dropped every time you leave your connection idle for more than 2 minutes) This problem didn't happen with my old linksys router. I emailed tech support on this one over 5 times - they just kept sending me back a cut-and-paste of the entire user manual - they're completely useless. Bottom line is - DON'T BUY THIS ROUTER. Get a different brand router, or a string and two paper cups, because communicating across the web with this router is so unreliable - it's worthless.

Summary: Very Painful Setup: Nice Performace
Review: Got it at a lower price from a local (bleep) during its specials. Also, D-link is currently having sales on its products at giant retailers like (bleep). Check out Dlink DI-713P(with a printer port) before you consider this model. I used to have the Netgear RP114 router for a year with the Earthlink DSL service: after putting the Dlink 614+, a Toshiba Satelliet 1805 laptop conncted via a Dlink Airplus DWL-650+ card had faster internet connection than with the Netgear. This relatively new router model is better than the others in its lineup in that it has a 256bit encryption mode and can transmit upto 22Mbps on certain wireless cards(like the DWL-650+): whereas the 614+ has four router ports, the 713P has three router ports and one printer port but has only a 128bit encryption mode and max. transmission of 11Mbps.
The looks are nice too: plastic case, but two tone colors with nice design with a large D-Link logo on the top of the box.
The range is pretty good: note the router be placed at a appropriate place for better reception (places where there are less electrical interference). Ok, the thing is, it took me four hours to get technical service, all the while agonizing over the router that refused to work on the first installation.
It turns out that the manual is poorly written; insufficient information about the encryption mode, which I mistakenly turned it on during the installation procedure, was the problem and took forever to find the right method of hardware rebooting(the manual said it wrongly: how can a machine be rebooted after having its power turned off???) Thankfully, the technician(who must be overworking) helped me out to the end, which was really nice(to see some humanity still being served at the end of the telephone line). A piece of warning: if this is the first time you are using a router, be advised to consult the DSL provider service first. You need to use the PPPoE for Earthlink(and other DSL services alike), and for the person who below says this machine does not work with Earthlink DSL is mistaken. It works fine- too bad that the manual is somewhat obsolete in telling you this. Get a friend who knows something about networking, and buy him a meal after his/her headache-the machine will work in the end.
There is no wireless router currently at this price range, so if a price is your priority, check this out. After pain, you certainly gain something in this model.

Summary: Solid Wireless Router - After Firmware 2.0F Upload
Review: I had problems connecting to Verizon DSL service, the wireless connection got arbitrarily disconnected (especially nice during downloads, chats) and my over-all experience was bad. However, DLink released the latest firmware on their site - and with it, all the problems were solved. The connection is stable and the speed as expected. It clearly outperformes the DSL bandwidth so that you can't tell the difference between wired and wireless connectivity while surfing the internet. Of course, the LAN connection to my server via wireless is much slower than via the 100MBps Ethernet - as expected. After all, the DLink 614+ is a reliable router including rich features and quite fast wireless connectivity - with the latest firmware. Given the fact that you have to download a firmware to get the product operational, only 4 stars.

Summary: Not recommended for network newbies
Review: I don't own this router. But I installed a wireless LAN with this router for a friend. If you are buying this router for Pacbell dsl or Earthlink dsl, read this. There is a known problem with logging into those dsl providers. The lastest firm upgrade (just posted on dlink.com today 7/28/02 or yesterday) seems to make it work (my friend's did). If you own this router and having problems logging in, plug your dsl modem to one of your computer and create a PPPoE connetion in Network Connetction in Control Panel (easy for WinXP)Otherwise you need to install Ethernet300 software for other Operating Systems (Me, 9x) In other words, use the way you log in before you get this router. What made the installation a nightmare was that I had sucessfully logged into pacbell dsl with the default firmware the day before. So it was a complete mystery as to why I couldn't log in the next day. I did tons of troubleshooting before I could pinpoint it was the router not pacbell than was causing the problem. I installed wireless networks before, and I do have a lot of networking experience. For the typical user, it would be too much hassel to get this thing to work. So I am not recommding it to newbies. I am giving it a four star b/c it seems to have a lot of features, very cheap, and looks decent physically. I have no idea how dlink can make a 22Mbps claim on this router. I have not tested it. Maybe it is just pure marketing hype. Please don't try to call pacbell and expect them to fix your problem with this router. In fact, phone support in general is very unprodctive for consumer products. Always search the web first, then newsgroups, or send a detailed email. In my opinion phone support is just two clueless people yelling and pointing fingers at each other. Not offense to either side, but it just seems to be that way.

Summary: Has problems with dynamic connections
Review: I bought this router to use with my dynamic PPPOE DSL connection. The setup and interface were easy enough to use, but no matter how I configured it, it would not connect to my DSL connection. The router would get PDAT messages and disconnect immediately. I found out that other people have had this same problem with this router.
Also, I couldn't get the router to update its firmware. It would repeatedly give me a message saying that the firmware version is incompatible.
