Summary: Great Router with Awesome Wireless Features ...
Review: Security on the wireless side are as good as you are going to get for a home based product, and the speeds are good enough for home, about 6Mbps throughput in the best spots and about 2Mbps in the depths of my home.

The router itself was easy to setup and has been working great, firewall rules are easy to setup and some are even all ready there for you, you just need to activate them.

Summary: It's Everything it Promises to be.
Review: First of all, the 22Mbps does make a difference. I checked my throughput with NetIQ's Qcheck on my laptop (XP) with a DWL-650+ through this DI-614+ to my wired (10/100Mbps) PC (XP) and I get an average of 7.5 to 8Mbps. When I take that very same laptop to my work or a friends house that has just the standard 11Mbps Access Point and do the same setup (2 XP machines) I only get about 3.5 to 4Mbps max. The tests I've run show that XP seems to be a little better for speeds, I am not sure exactly why though.

Everything else I use on this DI-614+ has been working since I got it. I use MAC filtering, the 128-bit WEP, although it does support 256-bit, and static IP's for security and I haven't seen anything in the logs showing an intrusion or unwanted visitors. I also use and SSID with "()" symbol in it to denote that it is a closed or "Private" Access Point.

I have upgraded to the latest firmware (2.10) and am very pleased with the speeds, range, and reliability.
I also have a couple sets of 2.4Ghz cordless phones and I see no interference on channel 11 (channel 6 is default and I experienced slower speeds with that channel).
I hope this helps you make your decision about this product.
I'd also recommend the DI-714P+ because it is supposed to be the DI-614+ with a built in print server.

Summary: bad wireless router
Review: well just to start the only reason that im starting to hate this router is that i keep loosing wireless connectivity.

i have researched on the net and have found that im not the only person with this router that is having this problem.

everything else on the router works.

i have emailed dlink multiple times and have not received a reply fromt there technical support.

i called there technical support and they walked me through all the DEFAULT configs... and i told them it wasnt the configuration its a defect with the routers wifi.

im either hoping that they come out with a fix or im going to return it.

Summary: D-Link DI-614+ works better then expected.
Review: I was up and running in under 5 minutes. The only issue I had was that the install guide was rather limited. It really didn't say much on setting up WEP and some of the other security features.

Summary: Great Wireless Router
Review: This is my second attempt at wireless. I first tried a Netgear router and wireless laptop card. The system would work for a while and then drop the signal for no apparent reason. This D-link system was simple to set up and has worked flawlessly ever since. The only downside is that to make any changes to the router you have to run the network wizard instead of going right to the parameter you want to change.

Summary: Very simple and easy to use
Review: I was glad to see that it wasn't very hard to set this up and start sharing our cable internet access securely. It practically worked great out of the box. I was lucky and the default settings were exactly what I needed to get onto the Internet.

The wireless portion was just as easy to setup. I installed my DWL-650+ and instantly was connected to the 614+. Everything went very smooth and I was very pleased when everything was done.

Summary: WOW, this thing rules!
Review: Blazing fast wireless speeds, parental controls, MAC filtering, 256-bit WEP, setup wizard, ... blah blah blah, you all know this already right?

My expereince with this product is nothing but success. It practically setup itself and I just changed the default settings to soemthing a little more personal as to avoid wireless hijacking or whatever you want to call it. I am truely impressed and wish I would have bought one earlier, except I wouldn't have gotten the deal I got. It was on sale for almost half price what is it now.

Everyone, go out and buy this router now, heck order it from amazon.com and get it delievered for tomorrow, you wont regret it.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I bought the 614+ with the intent of using the Nortel Contivity VPN client to connect to my company's network. Tech support told me it doesn't work with Contivity, but does work with the Extranet client. I was unable to get either the Contivity or the Extranet client to work. If you don't need to use a VPN to me this would not be a bad product, but don't expect much help from Tech Support. I think they get most of there recommendations from Internet news groups.

Summary: A big stinking joke of a product and tech support
Review: How's this for a brilliant product: You build a wireless router with a 4-port switch that can only accomodate 1 EMAIL USER because the built-in server can only accomodate 1 IP address per port! So if the other three wired users want to use your email software, you are sh** out of luck.

And it took 3 phone calls to tech support to get the question answered. One of them said after 30 minutes of playing around with router settings "Maybe you should not have gotten this router." Statement of the year.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS ROUTER AND STAY AWAY FROM ALL D-LINK PRODUCTS

Summary: VPN, Gaming, File Sharing, XP, 22Mbps, they all work!
Review: I have had minor hang-ups since I bought this router. I bought it to be able to handle my VPN connections, my kids' gaming habits, file sharing programs, and all on wired OR wireless. These have all been working great for me. It is hard to believe that others are having so much trouble. Everything I've thrown at this thing it can handle.

My wireless connection is great, right now we only have one laptop that can take advantage of the wireless but when a buddy comes over, or when we get more laptops I will be ready. The 22Mbps only works with other D-Link products of course, but you can buy them in a bundle. I have a DWL-650+ in my laptop and it gets constant 6-7Mbps when I am on the same floor as the DI-614+. When I am upstairs I get about 3-4Mbps. This is perfect because our ISP only gives us 1.5Mbps speeds.

Setting everything up was fairly simple since all the features are right there in this one box. We all run Windows XP and which only made setting this up even easier. From within the web based configuration I was able to open specific ports to allow certain PC games and file sharing programs to work properly. There are even preset firewall rules that allow you to play MSN Game Zone and more, all you have to do is enable them.

Another plus is that I can set up "Parental Controls" to disallow certain websites from showing up on my kids' computers. I can do this by entering in keywords I find inappropriate into the parental control area.

This router continues to work flawlessly to this day.
Our family isn't exactly novices when it comes to utilizing a router for all its uses but we sure are taking advantage of what this router can do. I am very impressed and somewhat proud that I can get this one product to do so much for us and at such a low price. This is definitely a great value.
