Rating: Summary: Using Bluetooth couldn't get any easier!! Review: After extensive research I decided on purchasing the Hawking H-BT10U Bluetooth USB Adapter to use with my Sony Clie TG50. The set up was a breeze and I was already using Bluetooth hotsync in an hour. I just needed some fine tweaking on my clie however the installation of the drivers was effortless on my Windows XP pro machine. I just ignored the warnings that the drivers are not certified for use on Windows XP although it states on the box "Works with WinXP." I would recommend this to anyone who needs Bluetooth.
Rating: Summary: Worked quite well Review: and comes with Widcomm software. Excellent for the price.
Rating: Summary: Great Purchase! Review: Any person can use without any problems, its easy to install and to use. It detects bluetooth devices fast and connects with them even faster. I definetly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Works Review: As expected, this item works great. It worked on my PC and on MacOS X. On the PC the UI was confusing, and setting up my Palm was awkard ( to me ). On MacOS X it literally took seconds, you plug in this USB adaptor, and that is about it.
Rating: Summary: users of XP SP1a be aware of this... Review: as I stated about 4 months before it had some problem with bttray.exe and real player 8 recently, I re-installed xp, and installed again all updates and SP1a then I install this driver and accompanied programs but the problem happens... the driver prevents the system tray to load up, then I have logout and log back in to load system tray again, or unplug the dongle when booting up till everything has been loaded I don't have such problem before the driver installed, and the updated driver has problem with bt LAN, that says the "network cable unplugged" (means the dongle is not plugged); the driver with CD don't have this problem too but once make it working, it has no problem with HP 1945, Tungsten T, nokia 3650, nokia n-gage that I can use pcsuite, use bt phone as GPRS modem, hotsync/activesync, broadband connection passthrough for palm/ppc WARNING (XP SP1a users with this dongle): YOU MUST UNPLUG THIS DONGLE WHEN BOOTING UP, OR RESTART, and you can plug it back once everything has been loaded
Rating: Summary: Connectivity Issue Review: As with the rest of you all, my Nokia 3650 gave me lots of hassle connecting via Bluetooth with the PC. However I have found the problem is not with the Hawking device, but with the Nokia device itself. Apparently if Bluetooth is always enabled on the phone it becomes idle and refuses to connect the serial port. The solution that seems to work for me is to switch off the bluetooth from the phone, restart it (i.e. shut down the phone and start again), restart bluetooth, then connect. Always works!
Rating: Summary: Buying my second Review: Bluetooth isn't for everybody. You have to understand which devices provide what services, how to discover device, and how to pair devices. It isn't like the wireless ethernet stuff that you buy and it just runs out of the box. Once you conquer it though it is just too cool.
My wife is a mobile network. She has her bluetooth enabled cellphone, bluetooth earbud for the phone, and bluetooth pda. We have a hawking bluetooth usb adapter connected to the computer at home. So, with this, my wife can do hands free calls with her cell phone with no wires... she can even be up to 30 feet from the phone and still talking on it with her earbud. She can surf the internet with Internet Explorer with her IPaq PDA through GPRS on her cellphone (up to 115 Kbps for free on t-mobile) and of course get her email on her IPaq instead of using the keyboard interface on her telephone she is using Windows 2003 Mobile. She is also able to synch her pda and phone using the bluetooth so she doesn't have to hook it up with the usb cable.
We're getting the second adapter now because she has gotten a laptop. She can now carry her laptop and get the same surfing capabilities and so on using the bluetooth and the phone's communications abilities.
Bottom line is that the investment of thirty bucks and the time to figure out how to make this thing to work can really be worth while if it is what you need. You'd have a hard time taking my bluetooth away from me!
Rating: Summary: Like Product but Hard to Get Working With PDA Review: Bluetooth was a bear to get working with my HP 1945, but now that I have it working it has been really cool. The hardest part is finding information on how to make the two devices work together. The manual and tech support from HP and Hawking are about useless.I am using the bluetooth for wireless web browsing, activesync, and file transfers. Some sights to help you with getting these setup are: http://www.pc-counselor.com/How_to/bluetooth_network.htm - For setting up the wireless web browsing (this was very painful to setup) http://www.bluetoothnews.com/features/ActiveSync.htm - For setting up activesync. http://www.bluetooth.com/ - Official bluetooth site http://www.brighthand.com/ Make sure you download the most current driver from Hawkings. I couldn't get it work with my PDA with the driver they sent on the CD. So far I am able to connect to my PC and surf the net through-out most of my house. Overall I am happy with the product and the price and would recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Great Product Review: I am having fun transferring data between MS Outlook 2002 and my Nokia 7650. Minor difficulties in setting up but the product works fine. Can't beat the price too!!!
Rating: Summary: New driver on CD works with Nokia 3650 but will expire Review: I bought the dongle to use with my nokia 3650. The supplied driver version is 1.4.2.10. The setup took minutes and it worked fine on both Windows XP professional and Win98SE desktops. However, within a few weeks, the drivers stops working, prompting "Bluetooth license check failed." Hawkings support has not returned my emails after two weeks.
