Rating: Summary: Linksys WET11 Wireless Ethernet Workgroup Bridge (802.11b) Review: Can be used with any platform with a Ethernet (NIC) card. No setup with Platforms OS. Just plug in after setting its IP Address on your LAN. The IP Address is for updating this device with any new firmware, etc... Or in changing any of it's options, like WEP. The only problem is its only 802.11b would be nice if it worked 802.11a as well. I can now have a Macintosh/PC in the front room for my daughter to visit places ... under supervision without wires running in front of the fireplace. Bruce :-)
Rating: Summary: Windows 95 Machine Review: As a uses with many different computers I wanted to be able to network all of the different systems that I had. This unit was to hook up a 95 machine. I tried to follow the instructions several times and was forced to call their technical support. After waiting 20 min I got a man who knew little about computers and less about his own product. After 30 min I was instructed to return the unit if I could. That is all that they said. To attempt to return the unit. I have been an avid linksys customer but if they say that the product is going to work and then can't fix the problem I will have to reconsider them.
Rating: Summary: Sweet! Review: I bought this for my Xbox. It works great with it. It took only minutes to set up. I had to reconfigure the Xbox from PPPoE when I linked it to the Modem, to detect IP automatically from the router. Very happy gamer.
Rating: Summary: WOW! This does exactly what it should! Review: Plain and simple, take an ethernet device and hook it to your wireless network - easy to setup (go slow and do follow the directions) and provides strong reception. It saved my AudioTron from HPNA.
Rating: Summary: WillieB Review: I'm starting an WISP and thought we had found the answer to our prayers in the perfect CPE device. It has ethernet connectivity to the computer which means no driver installs. It also has remote access via web browser and tells the % of the link. Which means we could connect to any of them in the field and check the signal. This is perfect. Unfort' it doesn't work [very well]. I took the Linksys USB adapter and put it on top of the truck. Then I had the WET11 connected to a 8.5db external telexwireless.com patch antenna about 15-20 foot off the ground. The usb adapter outperformed it in every way. The signal would have to get to 60% before the link quality came up enough to even use the WET11 on the network. We REALLY wanted this to work! It's a great idea. ...
Rating: Summary: Connect different networks cheaply with any access point Review: This tremendous and inexpensive piece of gear has two great features: one, you can plug any Ethernet device into it and thus attach it to a wireless Wi-Fi network; two, you can take a network of 30 or more devices connected in a wired configuration, and bridge all of their traffic to any access point within range. This lets you hook pods of computers together without wires, bypassing expensive or difficult drilling operations or wiring configurations. It's not perfect, as the full connection is the equivalent of less than the original 10 Mbps Ethernet, but it's an awful good solution for computer labs, homes that are too large for a single access point, or building small office networks. It's also worthwhile for community and neighborhood networks trying to extend their range.
Rating: Summary: works with X-Box live Review: I bought the BEFW11S4 and the WET-11 from Amazon to connect my upstairs cable modem/pc to my X-Box live service. It took me a little bit to figure out that I needed to program the WET-11 through the WAN port on the BEFW11S4. Once this was done I let the X-BOX auto configure and I was online. I am one of the beta testers for X-BOX live. I then hooked the WET-11 to my laptop and I was online. So far so good.
