Summary: Stay far away if using with a Toshiba
Review: Purchased to use with a Toshiba Satellite S173. Computer locked up anywhere from immediately to around an hour when using the Linksys WPC11. After doing a little research (which I should have done in the first place) it turns out that there is a history of trouble with this card and Toshiba laptops. I like my Linksys wireless router, but the network card continued to cause problems and has since been returned. My advice is to stay away from this card if you have a Toshiba laptop.

Summary: Great once setup, but linksys service [is not good]
Review: The reason why I gave this card 4 stars, not 5, is because of Linksys' service. I called them few times during weekday and weekends for some setup help, got through the busy tones after redialing their number 20 times, and then I was on hold for about 45 minutes to an hour before anybody came on the phone. That was their shortest hold time.....other times I just hung up. I almost had returned their card and router at one point in time....once this card is properly setup with your wireless network, it works great....i have a 4400 sq ft house with a basement and back yard, and my laptop works great anywhere, including the basement and the back yard....just wish they make their technical support qaulity better and hire more people.

Summary: Great Card for Linux !!
Review: I have linux Red Hat 8.0.
I installed the card using the instructions ...to install the card without
wlan-ng drivers. It took me only a few minutes to start the card and connect to a linksys BEFW11S4 at a friend's house.

The only problem I found was if I used ftp for a while I would loose the network connection. I switched to the wlan-ng drivers and everything worked fine !. After that I got my own BEFW11S4 and it has been working great for the last 3 months.

Summary: free and wireless
Review: bit the bullet and purchased the router and card. after the initial headache of the set up, everything works great. with 2 computers in our house, this frees my wife and i up to be in separate rooms and concentrate on our own work. no unforeseen problems as of yet (knock on wood).

Summary: Great and easy
Review: Great product, easy to set up - I am you may say dummy if comes to the computer set up stuff. I got Intel wireless at first and let me tell you after about 4 days of trying to get this set up I took it back and got the Linksys wireless AP Router and the wireless PC card. I got it set up and it is working great ever since, it took me about 1 hour to set it up. Great product and easy to set up even for computer Dummies like me...enjoy it !

Summary: impossibly convoluted. unbelievably frustrating.
Review: Can I just put in my vote for the single worst product of the year? Sheesh --- I have a linksys wireless router and a linksys wireless card. And I'm a computer professional. This should be out-of-the-box easy to set up --- maybe ask for a "password" on one side and a "password" on the other. But NO! I have to know about WEP encryption (encrypt-it-yourself! it's more fun that way!) and subnet design and even then it doesn't work! Worst of all, the software gives no information about *why* it doesn't work --- there's no log, no error messages. Just a big nothing. Even after I got it working (beats me how, I just poked and prodded forever), the "configuration utility" that sits in my task bar does nothing at all useful. If I go to an airport or to another spot with Wi-Fi access, I have to go into the card's Configuration properties, re-set a bunch of stuff (with no opportunity to save my existing settings!), and hope that it'll work. All in all, a very frustrating product. Good luck.

Summary: Toshiba + XP + Linksys card = $%^#%^$
Review: I have a toshiba laptop with Xp and I am on my third card this week? Yes, when I got my toshiba, it was perfect, flawless. It remained so until I went with the linksys wireless setup (b series wireless cable router 2.4). The linksys card works good for the first ten minutes. In the next 10 - 50 minutes, the system will lockup, and I have to take my battery out to reboot. All three have broken within the first two hours of operation. The laptop gets really hot and the card is even hotter. I have adjusted all settings to minimums, but this card just loves to overheat. I know of two other people that have had similar problems and went with the d-link 2.4 ghz. ...

Summary: A decent wireless card
Review: The setup was incredibly easy and it was operating in minutes. Signal strength has been great so far operating in public wireless hotspots.
