Summary: Not reliable
Review: I purchased a WAP and 2 usb adapters a year ago. It worked fine for windows 98 but on windows xp it has given me nothing but trouble. I updated the drivers and firmware on the wusb11 and have been rewarded with a non-reliable connection. I am waiting for the price to drop on 802.11a cards and wap to replace these...

Summary: Works Great!
Review: I first used a direct cable to hook up to main computer which was hooked up to the internet. I removed all the hard cable and decided to go wireless.
After purchasing the new Linksys 2.4 GHz 802.11B adaptor...it works great! (using this new version)
I have not encountered any problems and is very easy to install in no time. The Att wireless adaptor is not easy to install compared to this one!

Review: I had the wiredless router plus wusb11 install for 30 min., and it were good no problems never had any downtime or stop connect.
My sys are SBCyahoo dsl, AMD 1gh, Intel 633Cel.The Intel at next room that why I need that Wusb11. So far so good. I recommended.

Summary: Agony.
Review: I finally installed the linksys wireless system; the router plus the wireless USB adapter. I have spent upwards of four hours with support personnel, who were unfailingly courteous and anxious to be helpful. The problems are multiple: despite assurances to the contrary there are issues in configuring the system to work with Windows 98 first edition. The signal is weak, despite the fact that the router is only 10' vertically and 20' laterally from the receiving computer. I now have intermittent access to the internet at speeds that are slower than dial up. The whole enterprise has been a black hole for my time and endlessly frustrating. You may well be more fortunate, but if you buy it and it does not function with little effort, cut your losses and return it immediately.

Summary: Works with some versions of windows....otherwise: forget it
Review: It is a great system and works well with *most* version of windows. It does NOT work with Windows XP Pro. Their service number is almost impossible to find. When we did call, they knew about the problem with it not working with Windows XP pro but could do nothing to help us.
It also didn't work well with my husbands computer...it kept cutting out. Luckily we have the Linksys Router where we can have both wired and wireless connections. Only one of our three computer uses this adapter. The one thats on it works great with no problems...but the other two computers won't work with it. And the people at the company could not or would not help us, even after we dumped [$$$]into their products to get the wiresless system in our household.

Summary: I Can Actually Give Something 5 Stars!
Review: ...The wusb11 arrived this week and after inserting the disk, hitting a few buttons and entering my encryption codes, I was hooked up. It literally took less than five minutes to take it out of the box and get it working. ... Great product.The usb adapter also comes with a velcro plate that slides on and off (hard to explain but will come in handy). It allows you to velcro the adapter to your laptop so you don't have to juggle while switching locations. The only con is that it should have come with a short cord along with the long cord. ...

Summary: Better range than PC card.
Review: I run a Linksys mixed (wired & wireless) network at home, and though I've been pretty satisfied overall, the maximum *effective* range I've been able to attain with their PC card in my laptop has been under 100 feet. I've tried centralizing the router and elevating the antenna [even to the extent of using a makeshift coax antenna extended into the attic] with no real benefit. However, with this USB adapter and its built in antenna, my range has doubled and my laptop is now free to roam anywhere in the house with "excellent" signal quality. Setup was a snap and as long as you have a free USB port (or use an adapter as I do), it'll improve your network without too much of an investment.

Summary: Problems galore
Review: I have this unit working with Windows XP and the Linksys BEFWS4 wireless hub. The WUSB11 is a power hog, so it won't work with passive USB hubs. It wasn't easy configuring the unit with WEP, and I never really figured out what the problem was. The tech support from Linksys has been absolutely horrendous. In the end, my unit decided to die, and now I have to send it back to Linksys to get a new one. If you have a laptop, go for a more reliable wireless PC Card solution (I recommend the Orinoco Gold from Lucent). Not recommended.

Summary: Cigarette Pack Size
Review: I was having some trouble roaming around my house with my laptop and WPC11 (Linksys) PCMCIA card. Signal strength did not appear to be that great. I found that tipping my laptop on edge I received a good strong signal. This led me to do a little on-line research and I found this article: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,3973,20417,00.asp On WEP and antennas. I almost purchased an antenna for my WAP11 (Linksys) unit, but instead decided to try the WUSB11 first. Glad I did. The price for an antenna ($30 to $60) is comparable, but the flexibility of the WUSB11 is preferable I reasoned, if it worked. It did. Out of the box it is plug-and-play. The box contained: the unit, a 6ft USB cable, an installation CD, and a quick-install guide. I was up and running in about 3 minutes (took me a couple of those minutes just to turn on my laptop!). It was that easy. The time included configuring the WUSB11 to interface with my SSID and WEP settings! Wow! Okay, now for the test: will it work better than the WPC11. I began roaming my house, and with the exception of a couple of remote closets (really dark anyway), I received a 50-80% signal everywhere! Antenna orientation is a major factor on reception! I decided on a more rigorous test: would it work out in my garage (separate from the house). The farthest corner of the garage is over 100ft away and the signal would have to travel through 3-4 interior walls, 1 exterior brick wall, and 1 wood covered garage wall. Signal strength was 60%! My WPC11 would barely register out there. Okay, sold. I will be purchasing a couple more of these to allow me to place computers around the house for the rest of my family and NO wiring. I highly recommend the WUSP11.
