Summary: LINKSYS 4 PORT WIRELESS ROUTER
Review: This unit installs and works just as claimed. I've installed at least 3 of them and each one is easier than before. As long as you have familiarity with the setting to make on the network adapters, either wired or wireless, this unit is superb. I like to use it with the WUSB11 wireless adapter for either notebook or desktop. All you need is a functioning USB port. Throughput is as claimed--11Mbps. 5 stars and good price.

Summary: A great product for your home network
Review: If you are in the market for a router for your broadband connection, I would give serious thought to this product. It takes Linksys's 4 port router/switch and adds a wireless access point. And if you check the price, it's about the same cost as a stand alone access point. If you want to connect several PC's in different rooms, or be able to work on a laptop from any room in your house, I would highly recomend this product.

The only reason that I didn't give this product 5 starts was the wireless abilties of this product. While it works great for surfing the web, it does seem slower than access points from Cisco, but at about 1/3 the cost. For price / performance this product rocks. I only notice the slowdown when I transfer large files (100M+) so for your day to day duties, the speed is fine. As for the distance, I can go anywhere in my home with my laptop and still be connected. I would also like to note that I am using a Cisco PC card. Also I have a very open floor plan that helps.

If you do decide on this product, there are 2 things that you need to do as soon as you turn it on. These are security issues that need to be addressed. First, change the ESSID. This will prevent your neighbors from connecting to your network if they have the same product. Second, enable DES. This will encript the data, and will make it almost impossible to connect to your home network.

One final note, if you are using a notebook that your employer supplied you with, check with your IT/IS department before you start making changes to the configuration. We would rather answer your questions and help you BEFORE you break it then after.

Summary: Easy setup
Review: Very nice and Easy to set it up
I plug it into my Linksys hub and turn on the power press reset swithch on the router. It is ready to go. paired with Orinoco Gold never dropped the signal once. but when my 2.4Ghz cordless phone is in use the signal will be dropped I guess this is normal since both devices operates in same digital frequency range. You can use this device as a single access point or use it as a router. it works both ways.
right now my configuration is cable modem router canceled my additional ip to save money.
now I use only 1 IP for multiple computers.

Summary: stay away from it
Review: If I knew what I know today I wouldn't touch this product with a 10' pole.
Can't go 2 weeks with it, without it getting confused, and stop working, the only thing is working on it is red lights blinking. After a month I have to send it back to linksys, and deal with there restrictions on a product...

Summary: Terrible Customer Service
Review: The Linksys product may be okay, but God help you if you need customer service! I bought the BEFW11S4 (their wireless router), and couldn't get it to install with my DSL modem. Four evenings I spent on the phone, in their service queue: a total of 6 hours, and NEVER did anyone answer the phone. Their call center system told me that the average wait time was 10 minutes, and after an hour and a half I had to hang up (there are others in the house who need to use the phone).

I took the system back and bought one from Siemens. I did have a problem installing that one as well, but got through to a service rep in 6 minutes. Works great!

Night and day. If I were you, I'd avoid this company if I could. I'll never buy another product from them.

Summary: Linksys BEFW11S4
Review: Dont expect this to work right out of thebox, it takes a bit of tweaking when setting up with a PC wireless card. I called Tech Support and only had to wait about 5 minutes and the tech was very helpful and resolved the issues. Now the PC wireless card and Wireless router work great!! A great product, but allow some time and patience for set-up.

Summary: Pretty decent
Review: Installed it last night to sit between an iMAC and an IBM Thinkpad. The iMAC has a standard ethernet card, while the Thinkpad is using the Linksys Wireless card. Works pretty well. I couldn't get the router a WAN IP address until i reset the cable modem. The documentation isn't the greatest however, which is the only minus. Signal strength is pretty good in a pre-WWII apartment.

Summary: Awesome
Review: I have only been using this for a couple of days, but I already love it. I can't wait for summer, so I can work outside from my lawn chair.

Only one problem. I did not know that I had to call AT&T Broadband to give them my MAC address. That was a waste of about 30-45 minutes. I should have read some of the other reviews first.

Wonderful product! Go pick one up!
