Summary: good product
Review: Actually I was not quite satisfied with this card at the beginning, but since I updated the driver. Everything works fine. I got very good range in the building. I am a little bit far away from the access point and the AP's signal is not strong enough, but I still have a stable connection. It seems windows xp is always over optimistic about the signal strength, but d-link's utility is more reliable.

I have tried several other wireless cards, like us robotics, not as good as this one.

Review: Just like the title says. I am using Windows XP and I still needed the drivers to install the device, no problem. I don't recomend the software that comes witht the card, it just plain SUCKS! I also have the DI-624 wireless router by DLINK.
I don't recommend using WEP or anyother encryption. Instead, set filters to only allow known MAC address to access the network, others wise don't expect to exceed 15-25 feet indoors.

Plays well with other wireless networks, both 802.11b/g

Beware with the different Hardware Versions. I have the lastest which is B2. (makes me question why they make revisions?)

I since made some changes thaT allows it to work beyond the 15-20ft. Here it goes:
TX rate: Auto (must be set on router and card)
Channel: 1 or 11 DO NOT USE Channels:3,6,9 if you have a 2.4 phone (channel must be same on router and card)
WEP: DISABLED, (Both on Router and Card) (affects range)
MAC FILTERING: Allow Known MAC to access the network (option on router)

Settings on Card: > Device Manager > Network Adapters > Dlink DWL-650 > properties > Advanced Tab

Driver Version 2.36 (from Dlink Website)

Preamble: Long (must be same on router)
Antenna Switch: 1 (only if you have 1 antenna, otherwise choose 2)
Antenna Tx: Both
Map registers: 256 (default)
Network Address: not present (default)
Power Save Mode: MAX (This is my personal pereference)
Radio ON/OFF: ON
Transmit Power: 100%

With these settings I gained an extra 30-45 feet. Also I am using DLINK DI-642 wireless router. READ MY REVIEW ON DLINK
DI-624

I was real close to returning this item but after the "tweeking" I am reconsidering.

Hope this helps.

Summary: I'm Having a Blast
Review: I am having so much fun with this wireless networking card in my laptop. Everywhere I go I check to see if there is any wireless access points around that I can find and maybe connect to. I enjoy seeing how many wireless devices are in a certain area. Even driving down my street I can see 3-5 APs broadcasting at one time.

Speeds are great, the range is great and I am totally digging this wireless freedom.

Summary: With This card I can be free
Review: This card is easy to install, comes with good software, and has good range abilities. When coupled with the right AP (like DI-624) I get awesome distance with my laptop in my home. The card was also very easy to install and is an important piece to my laptop setup.

Summary: Excellent Range with DI-624
Review: I get a very good radius of coverage when I use this adapter in my laptop and the DI-624 as the AP. I recommend this combo if you want ease of use, simple setup, and good range.
The software that gets installed with this adapter is pretty good to. Nice and detailed info on the site survey.

Summary: Another Great Value from D-link
Review: This card has set my entire family's laptops free from wires. We now can surf independently in our own rooms, or all together where ever we want. We play games online together and there is no stutters because of network speed, we stream MP3s from our desktop to our laptops with the wireless and I don't see a difference from being wired in. The setup was very easy since these are basically "hot swapable" and the price is right.

Summary: I was new to Wireless ...
Review: But now I can be anywhere in the house with my laptop and still have a network connection to the Internet. Thanks to D-Link's simple documentaion and setup wizards I was able to setup my first wireless network in almost no time at all.

This card was very simple to install. It is super easy to use after install since all you need to do is plug it in and it starts looking for a connection. The software that somes with it is quite useful as well.

With this D-Link wireless card and my DI-624 I get great reception and don't see any problems now nor do I predict any in the future.

Summary: A real winner
Review: I am glad this was my first choice for a wireless adapter. I was told to go out and buy a wireless adapter and with help from the local store's employee he recommended me this card. He said D-Link was a good reputable company. I believed him and bought this card and brought it home. Besides if he wasn't right I could always return it right back to him. :)

Either way I was able to get this working by following the intstructions and was connected to my work's wireless network in minutes. I thank the helpful employee who helped me and I thank D-Link. Thank you both.

Summary: Solid Card, with Excellent Signal Range
Review: With this card in my laptop I can be anywhere in my home and have a connection with my network/the Internet. There are even some spots in my front and back yard that get signal. I am not sure if this is because of thie card, my router/ access point/ or the location I am in, but all this D-Link 11g stuff is working perfect for me.

With the 128-bit WEP and MAC filtering on the router I feel safe in knowing people aren't going to get into my network.

I'd recommend this card if you want 11g on your laptop and have an available CardBus Slot.

Summary: Perfect Laptop Adapter coupled with the DI-624
Review: When I bought this Card I figured it would work just fine and it does. No suprises here. You get what you pay for and it does what it says on the box. I get good range throughout my home, and the install was easy and painless.

The configuration utility for this and the DWL-G520 looks cool and is very informative. It gives you signal strength, a list of APs in the area, and if they are WEP protected or not. Very useful for finding hotspots. I just wish it had an external antenna for reaching long distances.
