Summary: Great, fast router
Review: haven't had any problems with the router so far. I did have a little difficulty setting it up. For those who are going to get one, let me suggest that you first check the channel for which your card in your PC is set, and then, during the setup process for the router, set the router to the same channel (1-11). The problems I did have seemed to be related to that. As someone else mentioned in their review, following the suggested (required) sequence of modem-router-PC when it comes to powering up things is important.

Summary: Router defective after attempting to set up
Review: I got this new router and after going to the CD setup, and getting proper info from the DSL ISP, the router did not connect to the pc. Using the reset switch was of no effect. Left for a day an try again. Same issue. Used Linksys help desk, good support but the blinking light (defective) did not go away. Have to be returned. I had very good experience with a previous Linksys "wired" router but now... this sets Linksys back...

Summary: No problem!
Review: I bought the Linksys router because I was assured it's operation and range was better than Apple's Airport; I had the Airport card installed in the laptop at a computer store, but installed the router myself. I have an ibook laptop with operating system10.3. With a mac I didn't even have to use the CD rom supplied for the router. I simply hooked up and everything operated fine. I am downstairs on the laptop accessing the internet on an imac upstairs without wires. Gotta love that technology.

Summary: Excellent product, better price
Review: I have set up and configured over 100 networks for assorted customers and always had great luck with Linksys products.
In fact Linksys is the only line of products that had for me always worked and setup first time with no issues.

I did have to contact tech support one time and got a lady named Christi who hung with me on the phone for 45 minutes to resolve the configuration issue. We were using a non-standard set up but together we did figure out a way to accomplish the task.

I've been using the Linksys wireless router in my own network for over a year now with no downtime, no issues and excellent performance attached to a DSL modem.

I am using 3 stations on hardwire and two on wireless with one wireless print server - all Linksys gear and all set up with no fuss - first time.

I am a believer in Linksys products and would recommend their products to anyone from the professional to casual user. I just hope Cisco doesn't change them. This unit performs flawlessly.

Summary: Not Bad For a First Time Setup
Review: Wow I actually can browse the internet on my laptop now with no wires.

My desktop runs xp and recognized and installed the router right away, but getting a connection to my 2 laptops that run 98SE was a little tricky. Make sure u install the software in the laptops first before u insert the cards if u run 98. Linksys support website wasnt too much help either so that's why it gets 4 instead of 5 stars. I was too scared to call tech support after reading the other reviews so I figured this out to be a about 6 pack install job :)

The only problem i have with the router is that my download speeds have diminished somewhat, but i guess that is to be expected. Browsing the internet is still pretty fast so I am happy.

If you own a machine with an XP operating system than it should be very easy to install and setup. So far I have no loss of connection anywhere throught my house weeeee. It is a little slower out on the deck and in the backyard but i can live with that

TY linksys and amazon for setting me wire free !!!!

Summary: Do not touch this product
Review: This product is extremely flakey and unreliable. The helpdesk at Linksys is also inexperienced and somewhat unhelpful due to their lack of English. My quest to resolve the wireless connectivity issues with this product through the Linksys channels has taken so long that it has taken the product out of the warranty period. Linksys has now determined that the issue is a hardware fault which can only be resolved by returning the product. Since the router is "out of warranty" they told me that they can no longer help and advised me to buy a new wirless-g router. From them of course!! Be very wary of this product.

Summary: Works Fine Right Out Of The Box
Review: I purchased this device because of its ability to support both wired and wireless connections. I've never hooked a network up before, so I was a little worried at first. But I followed the directions and was able to network two PCs together and share my DSL/PPPoE connection in about 10 minutes. I did have a problem with the Installation Wizard CD but the paper instructions were more that adequate for me.

My next challenge was hooking up an Xbox Wireless device. That took a little more time since I was reading two sets of instructions - Linksys and Microsoft Xbox. After deciding what security settings I wanted, I was able to get everything working in about 15 minutes. I messed up one time while entering the WEP codes on the Xbox once, so be careful entering your data!

Overall, I had a good experience with this device and I will definitely buy products from Linksys in the future. A+

Summary: Linksys Wireless-G router is GREAT!
Review: I was up and running within 20 minutes, right out of the box. Used the CD's that came with the router and the card, and Windows XP did the rest. Didn't have to enter ANY information. The setup CD did all that for me. I moved the computer downstairs into a game room, about 75 feet away from the router and I have a SUPER FAST connection. Could not be happier. I recommend this setup to anyone looking for wireless.

Summary: Just won't communicate
Review: I decided to go from my netgear router to the wrt54g and nightmares began. Can't get past installation on my XP Pro box. Changed cables etc to no avail. Desktop talks to box but after that I get "you have no Internet connection" or something like that. and never get any further. CD installation got me the same message. My ISP is bellsouth.net and uses ppoe. I have only the RJ-45 cable from the wall for DSL and no modem is required. With the NetGear router I just plugged in the line from wall to the inet port on the router connected the router to the with a standard dsl cable desktop for the setup and away I went. 5 minutes to add my wireless notebook and a few more minutes for WEP and MAC setup and away it went.

Summary: Lynksys Customer Service is Alright with me
Review: I have no knowledge of networking. I bought this product based on the recomendation of a friend and got the router set up in 10 minutes with no help (amazing!). When it came to the wireless PC card I got stuck. I called Lynksys, and waited less than 2 minutes for help. A man named Ahmed helped me, was kind, made sure everything worked, and got the whole system running in under 10 minutes.
I'd by this Lynksys again, if only to get help from Ahmed.
