Rating: Summary: Works wonders.. Review: Well I had comcast cable highspeed service here in michigan and a Toshiba PCX1100U cable modem and a vonage voip linksys router (model RPT31P2) well since my telephone service was intermitant and always cutting out I read all over the internet and found out it was either the vonage router or the cable service or the cable modem ...well since the oldest component was the cable modem(even though comcast said it pinged ok) I purchased the WCG200 and first thing was to hook it up to my four computers(don't ask)...one by usb cable and three by ethernet ports on the back of the unit..then I connected the last free ethernet port to the vonage RPT31P2 voip router..(total of five ports)
after that I powered it on and went to the units web browser configuration page and disabled the firewall(just to make sure it did not interfer with the vonage phone line service..) then I called comcast and told them (using my cell phone since I no longer had a working phone) to delete my old mac address and gave them my new one from the WCG200 and its serial number and made them aware it was a gateway and router and cable modem...
(be sure you don't select the wrong mac address as it also has a router mac address on this unit)..well within 5 miutes my modem was up and running and then my vonage services was working with no cutouts..
the only problem with this unit is that if you ever wanted to use it with a newer cable modem you could not since it does not have a wan port on it...(its all internal)..but hey...
every thing is super fast and I have five pc's hooked up and now a wireless notebook setup and a wireless pda hooked up ...(don't ask :)
and IT ALL WORKS!!
PS by the way if you use wireless phones you may find some background noise from this unit as it also uses 2.4 ghz operating Freq!
