Review: I'm on Comcast and it works great! I had to register my MAC address first and I was good to go! Five year warranty too. I highly recommend this modem.

Summary: Does not work with ATT Broadband
Review: In reading the reviews I thought this modem would work with ATT. Apparently, it used to before they switched to a different type of system. The ATT technician said it does not work with ATT and suggested I buy a Motorola modem.

Summary: 3Com Office Connect
Review: Nice product, I can't say enough about the history of the company or the overall quality of their products. This modem has all the features and performance you will likely need. I do not however recomend it as 3Com has very nicely discontinued support for this modem. This includes any future firmware upgrades including upgrades to Docsis 1.1 other than no support on their website and no upgrades a pretty stable/good product.

Summary: Works Fine After Reset
Review: Slow until reset at least once. AT&TBI in Richmond, CA is my provider. I also noticed that the connection between my router and the modem is 10Mb/s half duplex. Full would be nice, but it is probably an issue with my router not having a feature to force it. 3COM has discontinued this product, so beware.

Summary: Works great with ATTBI in Fort Collins, CO
Review: The pain of getting it set up is well worth the price. After 4 phone calls to ATTBI's tech support, it works great! 3 of 4 tech support peeps kept telling me I needed to pay [the money] to have someone come out and install it. THIS IS [NONSENSE]! Finally one of the tech supporters knew what to do: Simply register the cable modem at their online site...Make sure you register your computer with your current modem, then register your 3com modem. If you don't reg your 3com modem at that site, you'll get slow speeds (~100k instead of 1.5M). Like I said, the only trouble I had getting this modem set up was with attbi's tech support. Once I found someone who know what they were talking about, it went smoothly. Plus [buying] the modem sure beats [the] lease fee!! :)

Summary: Great If It Worked but not on AT&T in ST PAUL MINNESOTA
Review: This is probably a very fine modem on systems that support it . After reading the other reviews and noting that the "shark fin" modem I was leasing from At&t in St Paul, Minnesota was also the 3COM 3cr29220 I decided to call At&t tech support and see what was up . They wrongly informed me it should work great . When I installed it it went through the whole locking on process and appeared to work because all the status lights say okay . After 51/2 hours tier 5 tech support admitted it was not provisioned with the proper firmware at the head end . If I sound like I know what that really means , well don't be fooled , I don't .The bottom line is that The 29210 and 29220 are not usually interchangeable . The 3com tech said he'd seen a few cases where it could be made to work if configured as a 29220 but that the downstream rate was slowed to 10% of what it should be . The maddening thing about this ordeal was I did call my local service provider prior to purchase and they said the 29210 would work fine. Even today when I was calling in the new serial number for the Toshiba 1100/1100U modem replacement the tier 1 tech I spoke to couldn't see why it hadn't worked . I figure they wiped out 6 months profits on this one case not counting my time , The Toshiba by the way was online almost as fast as I could plug in the various cables.

Summary: Rocks with @Home / ATT Broadband
Review: This is the 3Com 3CR29210. A sticker on the modem says to use the 3Com 3CR29220 settings for @Home service. 3Com has discontinued all their consumer cable models but they are still honoring the 5 year warranty according to their website. This modem uses the Broadcom chip used in high-end models like Motorola, Nortel but it's half the price. I read a review saying that there are still engineers in 3Com who are still working on their discontinued cable modem products and these should not go outdated any more than the other cable modems. It "locked" in about 3 seconds the first time I plugged it into my cable outlet, which is probably really good because the cable guy was telling me to wait for 15mins to an hour. I get a max downstream bandwidth of 3800 Kbps with it and my ATT Broadband service. (...)

Summary: Not compatible with @home in Baton Rouge area
Review: This may be a fine modem, but make sure you check with your cable provider--preferably by checking their online listing--as I was informed incorrectly by one of the @home techs that it was compatible. It did look nice and is well constructed, but of no help to me.

Summary: Don't Buy this Modem!
Review: This modem is NOT DOCSYS compliant and will NOT work with AT&T cable service. 3Com Tech support, (which doesn't have a toll free number) describes a 'secret' web site that AT&T can go to get a frimware upgrade that this modem requires. AT&T tech support, after several calls and several technicians, all say that 3Com is giving me misinformation. Several people, in fact all that i spoke with at AT&T, said that the 3Com modems are junk and strongly (yet unofficially) advise ANY other brand of cable modem. Some also added that 3Com's other network gear is no longer a qulity purchase. All told, I spent (money) on the modem, ... dollars calling tech support at 3Com, and (money) on a service visit from AT&T to tell me that my 3Com modem doesnt work. On top of all of those costs, 3com wanted me to pay for the shipping to send it back for a refurbished modem. I cut my losses and purchased a Motorola instead.
