Summary: doesn't work on dell inspiron 8200
Review: Couldn't get it to work on my dell inspiron 8200 although it worked on teh desktop, the remote program never worked an crashed every time windows starts. Tech support can't figure out why it won't work on the notebook, returned it the other day. Don't try it if you have this notebook.

Summary: A must for the TV junkie!
Review: Having been an [internet] shopper for several years now, I believe this product is worth my first review.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that there are no printed instructions for Win2000/XP users. However, the drivers ARE INCLUDED in the CD that comes with the tuner, or DOWNLOADABLE from Startech.com. . Just email them for instructions and they reply promptly, and their tech support WILL CALL YOU BACK if call instead and leave a message.
By the time they called, I had the tuner working. I do have a bit of computer experience but I am not at total techie. Just install the drivers first. Then restart your computer for easy hardware detection.
Now I watch TV/cable on my computer all the time, I can hardly get any work done!

Summary: OK for what I needed, but could disappoint some
Review: I bought this unit because I like to have financial news stations running in the corner of one of my screens. I do run more than one screen, so I do not know if that has a negative effect on operation. Installation took a few times, picture is fair to poor at best. The program is slow and unstable. The program runs ok on my desktop running XP professional, but won't run at all on my laptop running XP home. Its fine for what I'm using it for, but if I really wanted it to watch tv as a goal, I would have ended up returning this item. The USB feature is just too convenient.

Review: I have XP Home Edition. When I first tried installing this, I kept getting a "initial h/w fail" message. After reading the reviews (instead of reading before I bought) I didn't like what I read. After some experimentation, I used the Win98 driver instead of the XP driver. Got it to work just fine. Quality not as good as my desktop card, but it suits my purpose.

Review: I ordered this unit with limited expectations and have been pleasantly surprised by the quality. The picture is clear and well defined and the motion is very smooth. I run an HP Laptop, 1.13 Mghz, XP, and this was very easy to hook up. You will need one additional driver from the Startech website in addition to the packaged CD-ROM for XP compatability. But, other than that, you'll be up and running in a matter of minutes. Overall, it's a great value, especially, with the wireless remote and recording and editing capabilities. I recommend it highly!

Summary: SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE, It really does work
Review: I own TV Tuner cards by AverMedia, STB, and 3dfx. I am very pleased with all 3, but I now needed a USB TV Tuner with a Wireless Remote. I couldn't find any except the Star Tech. I read some awful reviews about this product, but out of desperation I gave it a try. WOW, was I surprised. This unit is by far the best of all my TV Tuners. It has so many more features and installed seemlessly. I installed it on my Dell laptop that has XP as it's operating system. I'm not sure why this product received such bad reviews, but as one tech savy geek said, " most of the people who tried to install this TV Tuner must have had other problems with their computers at the time.

I've only had this card about a week, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. The remote works all options including changing the size of the tv picture (find that somewhere else). The volume controls and mute, last channel, favorite channels and about 20 other options work perfect. The only 2 things I'd improve on this unit is the color of the remote (it's an off white)to a green to match the card and on certain stations you do get the white squiggly scan lines at the very top of the border (not a real problem). All in all, this is a top of the line TV Tuner selling for a giveaway price. I strongly recommend it. You will be very happy.

Summary: Easy to set up, but poor video quaility
Review: I purchased this from amazon.com and returned it. It is very easy to set up, great price, however I was not pleased with the quality of the video. It is ok, if you just want to watch tv, but I need to transfer home movies to DVD, this just didn't cut it.

Summary: Very good product
Review: I purchased this product couple of months ago. So far I am pretty satisfied with it. All the features it has are beyond my expectations. You can watch and record your favorite programs. In addition,it comes with a remote control that you can operate from pretty good range. The only missing function for this product is that unlike some other similar products, it does not have FM radio function. Overall, I would recommend this product if you don't care FM receiver.
